  • Wiring a temporary electrical service is not a very difficult process if you follow a few simple steps and work with your utility provider.

    When I had my local electric co-op set up my temporary service, I decided to rent the pole from them. They put the service right on the transformer pole, no ground rod, and the panel didn't have a main breaker on it. When the time ran out on it, they removed the boxes from the pole and left the transformer. Guess that's one good thing about being a service provider, no inspections so they can do whatever they want. Now I have to build my own pole and I am finding out about all of these requirements so I can't simply copy what they did. Thank you for your video!

    Thank you for sharing this, I live in East Texas and my place burned July 10th of 2022 but I have two storage buildings and one I had already made into a room with just about four plugs in so I am considering staying in it until I get another place put on the land. My ex husband is in Mexico but his brother is helping me out and he already cleared up where the place burned and is moving two storage buildings where the burned down place was, I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis December 19th of 2022 and I have been having a hard time with strength and balance but I know about electric some because my uncle worked doing electric and showed me so before this place I had another used mobile home that I bought for $1,000 from a trailer park and it was gutted and had new floors already so that is why I bought it because of everything already down , so my ex husband and I redid everything in it and after we were done my dad came over and was amazed at how nice it turned out was taking pictures and sharing with everyone at work. You can do a lot if you put your mind to it but thanks for the video and have a Blessed Day.

    Confused, in comments below you state the ground and neutral must be bounded in the meter box. However the video shows and states they must be bonded in the breaker panel. I am certain bounding them in the breaker panel is accurate. Just want to make sure I wasn't missing something.

    • @BeyondtheBoom
      @BeyondtheBoom  2 года назад

      Codes are weird. You must have a bonding screw installed at the main panel. The wires for neutral and ground are tied together at the meter base.

    I bought a 50/30/20 gfi power box to use for my 30 amp rv and to have 110v socket for yard. Question, I am not going to use the 50amp, I don't have anything to use it for, but may if I ever get bigger RV. I am not doing the wiring, but want everything on hand, I will put plug over the 50 Amp so it's not used, but will be working since box is pre wired for all 3. My box came pre wired, so only has 2 inputs. Do I buy 6/2 wiring or do I need something different. Box will never exceed 50 amps and is it recommended to put 50 Amp breaker in my garage main box then run them to the rv power box?

    Quick question hopefully I can get the right answer on time - the electrician we are going to use said we need to find a engineer to find where they will get service from is this the truth or is it false cause when the electrician goes and pulls the permits isn’t his job to find that info out I’ve never heard someone say you need a engineer to find where they will be getting service from because now I am confused also ( we are first time home builder so we are learning as we go )
    Edit : just want to know if that is right or wrong cause I was thinking when the electrician pulls the permits don’t they provide him with everything to temporarily use for electrical

    Anybody familiar with Florida Laws on Temporary Power poles? I have a vacant residential lot on in central Florida on a very narrow and soft road few cars would dare drive through. No houses in 1000' square feet. However, 200' away there is a power pole. I am yet to have a survey done, have been able to drive to the middle of the lot where I've camp. I'm looking for the cheapest way to get Duke Power to run me a temporary 100amp power connection. I called they said the county would need to inspect and I would need a building permit. I've heard you can get a permit for just a well pump. How about if I want to manually clear myself using electric? Also, soon I will be driving electric and need power to charge my truck.
