- Hello fellow chalk fiends!
So here's a little demonstration of how truly different the textures in 1-2 boxes of chalk can be! It's pretty wild. I do love both but UGH if only the soft luscious buttery chalk was more widely available. Manufacturers are veering more and more toward the hard chalk (because they stop showing up broken to people who are actually using them for lifting lmao), and as glassy and delicious the sounds can be, it makes for a less visually satisfying video (in my opinion!).

That blue block was expertly dyed and had the most delectable texture and crunch.
I am a true crunch lover to my core, but have to admit that the crush does become less satifying, when the breakdown of the chalk seems a struggle. It breaks the rhythmic flow of crunches that I, personally, find particularly satifying. I appreciate when artists switch gears during a crush to twist crushes or snaps into pebbles, when they experience the chalk to be too hard, rather than battling to break the chalk down into powder completely on the first try.
As always I adored this crunch experience!

Speaking of inconsistency, I completely understand your concern regarding manufacturers favoring hard chalk for gyms and sports. Perhaps, a solution could be encouraging manufacturers to offer a wider variety that caters to different preferences and needs.
Lastly, the colors in the video were so vibrant, and the overall presentation was absolutely amazing! Kudos to you for creating such outstanding content!

It is typically money, as well. The formula (regardless of soft or hard) determines the price. Bad formulas are cheaper; therefore, the ‘brands’ make more money. While things can happen, ‘brands’ and ‘sellers’ know what they are selling. You purchase gym chalk by types and formulas and samples. Bad factories can mess you up sometimes, but when the relationship is established, that is rare. It just means that the person purchased the cheaper formula. You are not wrong about actual gym chalk needing to be hard/not break, but depending who/where you are buying, that may not even be an issue (is it an ‘ASMR’ seller or is it a ‘brand’ like ‘Nexo’, etc).
Mhmmm cheaper chalks = higher margins 😅 I'm currently working with a manufacturer so I don't have to guess what the chalk will be like anymore 😂

I personally like seeing soft chalk being crushed. The sounds of hard chalk are nice, but I often worry about the crusher. Like are they hurting their hands by crushing it??? I hate seeing asmrtists struggle with crushing hard chalk 😅
The struggle can definitelt be difficult to watch but I assure you that our hands are almost always fine 😊 I've never had any issues with pain
