I did like this record, because i'm quite sure that you cannot BUY Jaco's sound, but you can here these pus with a fretted bass (which i have), and it is very useful. I think you can use these pickups not only for trying to copy Jaco, but have your own music played like in this video. :) Let's make something new like Jaco did! :)
It would have been nice if the bassplayer who is playing on this track had any idea of how Jaco did sound! Pick up configuration is completetly wrong!!! I thinking of buying these pick-ups but when i hear this i would never buy them. I would be nice if a bassplayer who knows jaco's sound plays with these pick-ups. These pick-ups are not cheap and I would like to hear them properly before i buy them!
This set was based on a rewind that Duncan did for the pickups in the bass of doom in the early 80s, so that explains why. What you read was the original 62 bridge pickup most likely, and the pickups were probably wound hotter at Jaco's request.

daltonauto that bass costs over a thousand dollars...
My bad, I thought this was one of the lawsuit 70s basses. However, I would never pay over 1K for a Fender ripoff
daltonauto even if it's specs and quality were better? Lakland and G&L make BOSS fender "ripoffs".
Pickups were probably more expensive than the bass itself ;p
I know $220 for the set! Shit, their Quarter Pounders are only $130!
Good luck getting a Tokai Jazz sound bass on the cheap ;)

Way too hot wound for the classic Jaco sound. I measured Jaco's bridge pickup back in 1977 and it measured 7.7 Kohm dc resistance strangely enough.
