Well a fair amount of people do it in Japan so I think its common. (Mainly Odorites do this, Tadanon, Miume, Kamenliar217, TAKUMA etc.) but there must be some people watching behind the camera.
the ohlsen I agree with SomeOtaku!. In Japan, people are overly polite, so if they see you're recording, mostly, they'll get out of the way. But there are a lot of people in japan who record themselves dancing on the street, so yes, it's pretty common. If you watch any dance video (I'm currently learning Panda Hero, which brought me here) that is recorded in Japan, you'll see people just walk right past.
Honestly this choreography is not only impressive because it has a lot of body isolation which is pretty hard to get exactly perfect every time but additionally it actually adds to the song and it has elements that completely go with it. This is the only dance cover of ‘The Game of Life’ that I have ever seen but coming into it the fluidity of the intro kinda put me off. The piano part has so much staccato it didn’t make sense to me to open with fluid movements. And then getting into the lyrics I was expecting the style to change with every ‘Life’ or at least the most distinctive ones which I kinda saw with the blind pianist and the Pedo teacher but not so much any where else where I thought I really could have been brought home. While the tutting was impressive, at first it seemed so unnecessary and a bit showy than blending with the song. But then the huge drop hit and I finally realized what these off putting elements were being used for. The dancer is literally acting like a puppet. If you notice the leg work in between some of the sets, the knees appear close together while the calf’s are apart and sometimes the feet awkwardly go inward like a puppet whose joints are fixed and is being awkwardly set down to the ground. The fluidity and tutting is the ‘God’ putting on a show which is why it’s showy. The fluidity also is an element of how the dancer who seems to be like a protagonist is flowing into each like coming and going faster than he can stay put. Finally the ‘god’ completely takes over resulting in the great finale and at the very end the last pose is like the puppet finally being the puppeteer and crowning himself as his own ‘god’. It’s clever in my opinion and that’s just what I saw. If anyone else has any other dance elements that they can see connected to the song let me know, or even just elements that are really impressive....
If I were walking in the background of him dancing I would ATTEMPT to walk by without walking by dozens of times or without touching his hair. I mean, COME ON IT LOOKS SO SOFTTT!!
XDD i like how half of the comments are about his hair.. what's sad is that while i'm not as flexible as him at the parts where its almost certainly sped up i could probably whip my arms and legs around as fast as that (even though i dont for fear of a limb flying off even though that can't happen.. probably more like dislocating them)
