22:06 those dust particles look like they are formed in the shape of a person when the light is adjusting to the inside of the second bunker. totally freaked me out for a sec.
Howdy! Like you, I too enjoy walking around in old cemeteries and reading the grave markers. To use your word, those were some "cool" cemeteries in this video. I really enjoyed your low-key personality, also. I mean that as a compliment. You seem like someone I would enjoy hanging out with. I hit subscribe and will look forward to your next adventure. Cheers, my friend!
Thank you so much for sharing this informative historical video. I enjoyed the cemeteries, history, and bunkers. Now the church would be a good place to metal detect. Thanks again
I lived a half mile from these and would have a great time exploring them as a kid. Up until the early 90's there was only the one prison and it was a low security "country club" where some Watergate folks ended up. The new prison is a minimum-medium-maximum security complex that completely destroyed the night sky with all the lights. The fence you see is just a property barrier and is not meant to keep people in. I know of people who would slip to the other side to hunt during deer season. I'm so busy visiting family when I'm up there, I never get a chance to walk around there but really should do it soon. Thanks for making the video.
I’ve noticed in these old cemeteries whether they are in the north or south always has cedar trees planted in them. And it’s because cedar trees are supposed to represent everlasting life. I think that’s really cool. I’m not sure if that’s still done today but I doubt it. I absolutely love these old cemeteries and all the history they hold.
I grew up in the area. I used to attend White Deer Valley Baptist Church near there. It was the only church to survive the "ordinace". In the cemetery of that church there are veterans dating back to the Revolutionary War. There is a whole lot of history in that valley.
Thanks for sharing cool places like this! I was down in PA and made a stop here. Those bunkers sound so cool when you stand right in the middle! If you go, stay out of the first bunker at the entrance. The State Game Lands Authority stores stuff in there and doesn't trust people not to steal. The ranger might come say hi if he sees the door open. The other bunkers are fair game!
At 13:15 the grave marker is for Cornelius Van Fleet. This site has a photo of the marker as well as mentioning that it's in the Washington Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Union County, PA. www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=12613714 There's also a photo of what appears to be another grave marker or maybe a memorial marker for him. From the top photo of the other marker on that site I linked, it's right in front of the one you showed on the video. Place of death is noted on that website as Lycoming County, PA.
After watching your video, which I enjoyed, I did some more research. I found that some of those bunkers contain radioactive materials from the Manhatten project. In 2011 the EPA did some scans for radiation and found two bunkers with sealed drums. The bunkers were on State game lands. I am telling you this because I would not want anyone to get sick there. That sealed bunker and perhaps the one on prison land may have contaminants. Be careful out there and thanks for the great lessons and Videos.
I have never seen one from the war of 1812 before. So much history there. So many women died in childbirth and children faced so much. It is amazing how many actually survived.
Would you look at the last names on the tombstones? Some of us like your videos for family searches but look at the dates, designs, veteran markers but skip over the names. Thanks for your videos!
I wonder what it looked like in use. Were there wooden crates or special containers to help protect what they were storing? Were the amounts of TNT kept at a limited level in case one did explode? How well would one of these structures have contained a mishap?
The draped urn is a common symbol in old cemeteries. It was especially popular in Victorian times. There are various interpretations of its meaning. Some see the urn as symbolic of the ashes, the remains of the mortal body and the cloth as the departed immortal soul. The cloth is also interpreted as the veil between life and death. The urn as a death symbol goes back to ancient Greece where the dead were cremated and the ashes placed in urns, much as today. The symbolism on old grave stones is an interesting study.
Thats 20 mins from where I lived and grew up. We use to go to the bunkers and goof around at night. Hunted there to. And fished in the ponds. ALLENWOOD Federal Prison Complex butts up against there. Locals call this place the ordinance. So if you ask directions. Just ask about the ordinance bunkers and the prison. You'll be directed to it. There's 3 prisons there. The low. The medium security. And the max. USP ALLENWOOD. So yes there are a lot of high profile dangerous criminals. You should do your homework
Have you ever checked out the walls/tunnels along Belmont Road in Bala Cynwyd? Seems there's a tunnel entrance just up the road from the CVS/Bala Heritage trail entrance on Belmont rd itself. Appears to go back into the cliffs
Just a note to the somewhat creepiness you encountered. In May 84' a tornado ravaged this area. Several people were killed in the general area. The trees having been stripped over 30 years ago still have the tornado look still standing looking very ugly. A story worth repeating. A farmer in Union County had a cow missing after the tornado and just assumed missing in action. He got a call one day asking him if he lost a cow? Here the cow was caught up in the vortex and carried across the river into Northumberland County ....dropped into a pasture, unharmed. Cow returned!
I stumbled across your videos and am glad I did. Thank you for videoing your adventures. The bunkers would/could make great bug out shelters I’m thinking. Really cool!
i watch 539 productions he does lot of these, and i find that alot lived to be from the mid 60,s to 80 plus, and they say we live longer now,i really ? that
I know this is a really late reply to you but the reason people think we live longer now is the average life span was brought down by infant and young children mortality rates. If you made it to your 10th birthday the likelyhood you'd make it into your 60's was pretty good. Many didn't even make it to the age of 5. This also shows how a "Parent should never outlive thier child" is quite a modern ideology in just the past 100 or so year's with the invention of modern antibiotics, drugs, and vaccines. It was quite common for most families before and during the 1900's to loss one or more children to disease or illness. But when you hear the average lifespan was 40's thats taking all lifespans of the time and averaging them together. Not that people usually only made it to the age of 40. Though that's an easy miss understanding of the statement if you forget or dont know that children die far more offen then they do now at least in first and second world countrys that is.
So to put it simply we do live longer now because more people make it to their 60's or older. Then they did in the past. Not that we now live more years just that more of us live to those old years.
finally at 26:29 no graffiti....yes!!! would not spend the night in any bunker....too risky. enough people know they are around. ......best that no one knows.
Iam only subscribeing to you because it looks like to me you got a really nice iam guessing a 1991 or 1992 or 1993 or 1994 chevy truck god i really do miss those years god your lucky for haveing that truck please feel free to let me know if iam right on at least one of the years please because now iam curious thanks my friend
The echo is unreal in the bunkers; great sound effects as result. would be fun to hear music played or singing done in them. here, we white wash graffiti and often it stops it. looks like a full time job up your way with all the graffiti you run into. wish you didn't have to put up with that when you are out enjoying nature and old structures. as you say, "oh well."
wow if i found that id hide it with bracken etc, chain it up good n proper, Then slowly add a generator, electrics, sanitations air filters, masses of food stuffs with long life, water and other essentials and wait for the zombie apocalypse. And only tell my nearest n dearest lol, Thanks for sharing

Very cool video Cliff, thank you. Have a great week & stay safe. 🙂👍
Sadly a lot of women died young back then as a result of complications of giving birth.
Ok nutsy

I can't get over the crazy acoustics in those bunkers.

I wish someone would hurry up and invent a time machine so we can go back and see these places in their heyday.
Maybe not so fun.
Still waiting sadlu
You should say when somebody builds a time machine come back and get me.
Really enjoyed that . Thanks for taking me along
What a cool combination to find! Cemeteries and bunkers!
At the 5:07 mark you can hear an EVP, it sounds like a spirit is saying "Hiiiiiiiiiii". very clear. Great capture.

Great work on your video those bunkers could make a great Sound Studio thanks keep the good work up.
Another great video as usual!
Just came across this vid of yours and enjoyed it very much. I think I will try a few more. 😁
Bunkers were really cool. Appreciate you sharing.
The bunker was awesome. Sounded like a reverberation.speaker.

Very true about government promises!!!! Great video as always😊
Another great trip & visit. I love those 1812/1814 & CIviil War graves.Oh. Is that word "BUNKERLESS", is that a technical term (lol)
21:13. The bunkerless mounds may have been to help contain an explosion if it did happen.
What a cool place. Especially with that old cemetery. So interesting to read all those grave markers.
that one Revolutionary War marker was for a man named Vanfleet....first name was ulius on the end but can't make out the first letters.
It looked like it said Cornelius.
I have never seen one from the war of 1812 before. So much history there. So many women died in childbirth and children faced so much. It is amazing how many actually survived.
Awesome video thanks for your hard work
Thanks for watching
Cool cemetery. Ya, I did hear about it being haunted. Geesch, 1825 olddd. 🔀. 1852-87 yrs old he was old for that time in history.
Loved the whole video of course. I could take one of the bunkers and make a house out of it!!!! Plans already in my head!!! Lol
I was thinking the same thing. Make a nice emergency bunker/shelter. I would for sure have to add a back door or an other way out.
Awesome explore...thanks Cliff.
At 3:50 where the tombstones are, how recent were some of the recent burials?
Wonderful video. Lots of history. Enjoyed
Thanks
Would you look at the last names on the tombstones? Some of us like your videos for family searches but look at the dates, designs, veteran markers but skip over the names. Thanks for your videos!
Great video
We have a Union County here in Florida, I live in Lake Butler which is Union County, not too far from the Battle of Olustee in Civil War.
new subscriber. i had to hit that bell six times before it shook so i knew I would get notifications - just thought you should know!
Thanks
I wonder what it looked like in use. Were there wooden crates or special containers to help protect what they were storing? Were the amounts of TNT kept at a limited level in case one did explode? How well would one of these structures have contained a mishap?
So presumably the motivation behind is a hunger for knowledge in US History right ? Awesome videos I like you I do like history too.

What’s with the square hole in the tree at 10:40 ?
Right.. bothers me
Could you imagine camping in one.weird!!!!!
Those bunkers might make a good hobbit house? A few Windows, a fire place, a round door? What do you think Wandering Bilbo? Thanks Kindly! DaveyJO
What would first bunker be used for??? Odd shape and only one room
Wild echos & cool bunkers 🙂👍
The floors looked very clean..... no bat crap. So who is keeping them clean.

An urn with a shroud over the top in a cemetery signifies immortality.

Another great video! What kind of camera and what kind of GPS unit are you using?
Always found the history of this place interesting grew up in this area around the prison
My mom told me when she was growing up in the late 60s and 70s there was cult that did stuff in the bunkers
what type of camera do you use ?
Those bunkers would be awesome to record guitar in
This is awesome!
It’s a ghost town with no town but the two cemeteries- good ghost hunting place !

You’re welcome
The name at 13:25 is Cornelius Vanfleet. www.findagrave.com/memorial/12613714/cornelius-van_fleet
What were the bushes with red flowers on them, they are in front of the bunkers?
I'm not sure off hand, I'll have to review the video again
They would make someone a great home. Not only would I spend the night there I'd live in them.
Great video. Next time film up to the top of the ceiling & pan a little slower. Thanks for the exploration.
Just wondering, why are the bunkers round?
I would love to go to the grand hotels , resorts and ride the trains
what were these bunkers used for? Meetings or place of safety
They stored TNT in them. I live 20 minutes away from there and use to hang out in them as kids in high school. We go fish there alot now in the ponds.
Watch the video. He explains it.

Imagine making a big fart in one of those bunkers and the echo that would follow!
Piss on an empty beer can in one of the bunkers that sounds really cool I live nearby been there done that
These bunkers look big enough to be houses. They are in great condition. Wait. What? You're a physics teacher?
The echo is unreal in the bunkers; great sound effects as result. would be fun to hear music played or singing done in them. here, we white wash graffiti and often it stops it. looks like a full time job up your way with all the graffiti you run into. wish you didn't have to put up with that when you are out enjoying nature and old structures. as you say, "oh well."
Where exactly is Alvira, PA?
Union county, I give directions at the end of the video
Good man!!
The curiosity is killing me. Sometimes welds are meant to be cut. It'll be our secret.😁 Great videos though.
Thank you.
I don't see animal droppings. Maybe the echo keeps them out.
Thank you
What happened to the TNT factory ?
Well................WW2 ended
Thanks
Play a guitar or drum set in that first bunker.
That reverb is outstanding acoustics.
Id love to hear John Bonham play Moby Dick in there.
wow if i found that id hide it with bracken etc, chain it up good n proper, Then slowly add a generator, electrics, sanitations air filters, masses of food stuffs with long life, water and other essentials and wait for the zombie apocalypse. ITS SO SAD THAT THEY CAN'T MOW THE LAWN OR USE A WEED WACKER AROUND THE TUMB STONES. THEY DID IT TO ONE BUT OTHER OMITED.
Bet the second Bunker is the haunted one, and why the little graffiti punks stayed away from it...lol
Sounds like someone whispering on and off all most whole time. Turn it up
I think its the leaves crunching sounds like whispering...
Very pretty on moon lit nights
Dang it when did Margaret die
Anti-government, huh. Surprised to hear that.
love that echo
My teenage stomping grounds
We live our lives thinking were special or we matter but in the end the only thing that remains is some stone sitting on the ground
