    lovely job Steph i used that spray method a lot years ago. Dharma said it was just for fun thought you would like to know that you can feel good in its permanents. it is extremely permanent .in case you wonder. i got some pink on the grout in the bath tub. 5 years ago. it is still there. even bleach has not taken it off.yes it smells like shrimp gone bad ugh product also comes in jar form .

    Great video, love this stuff! Did you use a different ironing board than you'd normally use for regular clothes? I always wonder if it will transfer to the ironing board and ruin good clothes. I steam mine because I don't want to get a second ironing board just for this, but steaming it takes a long time.

    • @BelladonnaDyesCo
      @BelladonnaDyesCo  3 года назад +1

      Thank you. I did not use a special ironing board, nor did I even consider it. I did however use my craft iron. The shirt had been washed and dried before going to the ironing board so I’m guessing it should be completely fine. Thanks for watching. ☺️❤️🌈

    • @BelladonnaDyesCo

      I got to thinking about my reply 🤦🏼‍♀️. I washed the shirt AFTER I ironed it!!! It’s been a while since I made it. Sorry for any confusion! It was completely dry before ironing but if there is any concern I would put a towel or scrap fabric down to protect the ironing board. ❤️🌈

    The first step, what are you spraying onto the stencil is it just the deColourant Mist alone?
    Are you able to leave the image like that after you do the ironing or is it considered "unfinished"? It looked cool when the image appeared like that.
    There are a lot of items on your list, I don't know when to use each thing, do you have that listed anywhere? Like I don't know what the soda ash does and when to use it. Please advise.
    Also could you do this on blended shirts? 50 polyester /50 cotton or Tri blend or do you suggest 100%cotton only?

    • @BelladonnaDyesCo
      @BelladonnaDyesCo  3 года назад +1

      It’s just deColourant. You don’t have to add the dye. It’s just a matter of preference. I think you can use it on any fabric that can be ironed. I don’t have a list of when I use each product. The soda ash raises the pH of the fabric to 10.5-11 so the procion dye can react and bond with the natural fibers in the cotton. It’s used primarily after the prewash and before the dyeing. I have several tutorials. Maybe if you watch some of them it will help you understand better what the steps of tie dye are. Let me know if you have more questions. ❤️🌈

    I am absolutely amazed by this and the ideas are starting to pour in! Thank you for this idea and tutorial! Is the spray total liquid like bleach or does it have any sort of substance to it? I've done some experimenting with spraying bleach and have found that it spreads too easily on a dry shirt.

      I'd imagine you could put a thickener in bleach and use that. I remember reading that only a certain thickener works with bleach but I can't remember what, I'll look it up and come back.
      Edit: Google didn't help much with exact chemicals but it turns out Dharma has a bleach thickener, not sure if the link will work but it's on their site if the comment with the link gets deleted :)
