Sucks as a Giants fan but it makes sense for Saquon, the Giants, and the Eagles.
Saquon gets his money and will compete for a title for realistically the first time in his career.
That contract would have made the Giants worse than they have been. If the Giants spend wisely with that money saved it ultimately helps them. We're hoping they build a good roster now
The Eagles year in and year out are SB contenders, a player or two away. Saquon gets them closer, that contract makes sense for a team that is 5 guys off, not a team that has 5 guys

There is no real Giants fan that thought it would be a good idea to re-sign him at the money he wanted. There is no Giants fan, who grew up spoonfed Parcells and Belichick decades before their principles became championship norms, that considers a day where you net 2 OL and a pass rusher a bad day.

It was best for both parties. Giants got 2 OL and elite pass rusher. Plus a back that will do 75 percent of what saquan did. Saquan is on a team now where he can shine.

Saquon is from Allentown PA just outside of Philly & he went to Penn State. He got the got the best contract of his life , gets to go home & to one the best O-lines in the game. It was just common sense 🤷🏻♂️🦅

I'm not at all disappointed with Saquon leaving. It's not his fault he was drafted when the Giants stunk. Giant fans this is finally Joe Schoen's team and coming from Buffalo he helped build that up in four years. Any intelligent fan knows you build a team starting in the trenches both offensively and defensively. Philadelphia gets it. That's why they have a good team and Saquon will reap the rewards.

July 12 2023- Per a league source with knowledge of the situation, the Giants extended an offer to Barkley worth $13 million per year, including $26 million over the first two years..Saquon said he wanted to be a Giant for life. Saquon is guaranteed less than 26 Million for two years with Eagles.If he signs with anyone but the Eagles and Cowboys every Giants fan would wish him well.
The Giants are finally making smart moves. Saquon is amazing but the reality is that this team needs a complete rebuild and by the time they're ready to compete Saquon is going to be ready to hang the cleats up. That money needs to be spent on the spine of the team, not on luxury positions.
Also don't mind him going to Philadelphia. He's given the best years of his career to us when we were trash and he's more than entitled to go to Philly if that's where the money and the opportunity to win a Super Bowl is. And not for nothing, but this team is rebuilding right now and so Philly going all in doesn't hurt us (if anything it helps us because rosters go through cycles and by the time we're ready to compete in two or three years the Eagles will be dealing with bloated contracts for aging players).

I'm an old Giants fan, and of course, you never want to see former franchise players go within the same division. That said, I could never be mad. Barkley was drafted and played straight out of the gate for a revolving door of garbage management and coaches. We should remember those times that Saquon got concussed, and the Giants still ran him out the next play, only to get further injured.
It's in my opinion that the Giants really could've ended his career with the reckless usage. The fact that he came back and gave a couple of years with good health (for the most part) in order to work himself to a better deal playing for a winning franchise? I salute him. I wish him well.

I’m a Giants fan, I wanted Saquon back but at the right price. Eagles overpaid. Saquon is still a good back, but I watch every snap and don’t tell me Saquon is as explosive as he was. He’s lost a step, still quick and can be effective but not the guy nobody can catch from behind anymore. He is not the receiver McCaffrey is. Sucks he went to Philly, but it doesn’t really matter. Giants did the right thing for the franchise moving forward. Like it or not, its a rebuild and needed to happen.

I hate today's NFL free agency. As a Packers fan, I watched Aaron Jones develop from a 5th round pick in 2017. Everyone loves him. And we are supposed to embrace Josh Jacobs in the same way now? It looks like Aaron is going to take the Greg Jennings/Ryan Longwell route to the Vikings and take out his aggression on us twice a year. With what he did the 2nd half of the year, who can blame him.
We do too think of him as a turncoat. He’s gonna try to help the Eagles win Super Bowls.

Signing Saquon to a 12.5 million dollar a year deal just didnt work for the Giants. It sucks he ended up going to the Eagles but thats free agency. He got the money he wanted.
Listen, I get it will suck seeing Barkley as an Eagle and how it would have been more tolerable if he went to a team like the Texans. But the worst thing the Giants could have done was to pay him anywhere close to what the Eagles did. Roseman built a team strong enough to allow them to pay a luxury position like RB. Giants are in no position to do that and on top of that, through no fault of his own, Barkley is the face of the dysfunction that was the Gettleman era. Schoen clearly got swept up in the smokescreen that was 2022-2023 which set the Giants back a year but thankfully he recognized the mistake he made and did not double down this year. DJ will be cut before next season and then the only two players left from the Gettleman are the lone massive hits in Andrew Thomas and Dexter Lawrence. Its time to start a new, glad Saquon got his bag, annoyed it was from the Eagles, but above all else I am happy the Giants are finally moving forward as a franchise.
