  • Flooring of nearly any type is EXPENSIVE! There are ways to save a LOT when you're doing projects like flooring. It isn't some secret deal, or knowing a guy who knows a guy who knows a guy. We didn't steal them either. I will tell you how we did it in this video!

    70% savings is amazing. Those floorboards look great. We built our last house using lots of recycled fittings including the whole kitchen which cost us about $600 rather than the more common $20,000

    Wow, what a score to have real hardwood floors for cheap Flannel family! Start in the middle so it looks right as you go out. Maybe that doesn't matter. It looks good so far Lord Brian of the Flannel! You may take a bow now if you must. You already have dealt with some bows in your flooring! Kudos!

      @FlannelFarms  7 месяцев назад +1

      Ha! Take a bow, that made me chuckle.
      We still need to get you over for a visit! Maybe when it warms up a bit and we aren't under construction?

    Are your boards a tight joint or slightly beveled? Maybe consider ripping those 12’ lengths down on the boards that have bad bows. Mix these shorter ones in as you go.
    Maybe consider what we call a jack. It’s specifically designed to pull in those bowed areas. Makes it so you don’t beat the boards and cause damage.
    Nice looking wood. Atta way

      @FlannelFarms  7 месяцев назад +1

      I've a buddy with the jack who is lending it to me. They seem tightly joined. The floor was pulled out of a dance studio.
      I think the bows were my issue installing them against the wall, they are working better now.

      Are you using cleats or staples?
      On wide boards you need good bite.

    • @FlannelFarms
      @FlannelFarms  7 месяцев назад

      @williammolyneaux945 cleats. They look like a L shaped nail with ridges in it.

      I’m not sure what you’re nailing into. Looks like OSB. I guess I’m old school but be nice to catch the joists occasionally

      @williammolyneaux945 it is 3/4 subfloor. Advantech I think.

    😂😆 We had one of those "we will move your furniture" companies, yes, one that does 'same day" in and out companies.. They showed up around 8AM- maybe. Looked around and said, you didn't move the furniture. Well, NO, that is part of your job. Well, it's only if we choose to participate. EXCUSE ME? The salesman said this is part of the job. Umm, NO, it's not. Long story short, WE had to move most of the furniture. That same day service ended up taking a week..with a crew of maybe 8 or 9 people. Brian, what you are REALLY saving yourself from is a boat load of trouble, from people who have their ideas, from the one who is PAYING! . They busted one of the wood planks in the middle of the floor, and they refused to fix it. Take your time, and give it as long as it takes, because it will eventually get done. Yes, but we want to....AND you WILL....that's all you need to remember...you will! 😊
