This little ruclips.net/user/postUgkxVoi3B4CB6Oygq1-vo4OTL1M_M5JkrXif tub works perfect in our 6 x 6 shower and is easy to get in and out. Also easy to drain.
hello, do i really need the wood supports when i have a cast iron tub? i don't think supports are needed in this case. first, no one will be stepping onto the insert. second, the cast iron will support the insert. thoughts on this would be helpful, thank you!
All the different manufacturers journalist a half a day but that's if you've had practice installing two or three already. I would suggest you figure at least 8 hours as a newbie going slow and make sure that you know how to handle jigsaws or cut off saws safely .
Depending what your objectives are: personal bathing or resale, there are options. For personal bathing, you can purchase a 3rd party product called a "quick tub", it's a clamp-on device that can be installed over the insert in 15-20 seconds that allows the tub to be filled. For resale, I’d personally put into the listing “seller willing to restore bathtub to bathing”. With this statement, potential buyers will realize that the bathroom is open for negotiation (in which case most buyers would probably prefer - i.e. take the money and do it their way). However, for any offer asking you to restore it, you can purchase the quick tub part for around $500. On the other hand, if the tub is steel or cast iron, you can probably have the insert removed and the entire tub covered with a liner for around $2500. Presenting these two options in your counter-offer may then only cost you $500-$1500 in your price reduction.
It's for people who are unable to take baths anymore but yet able to take showers on their own or with help. This is a big deal for millions who are not yet ready for the nursing home, a little more time to feel less dependent , staying in their own home because they can get into the tub to shower. Some people can't get over the side of the tub to get in it and or they are just not secure. Shower conversation gave my mother many more years of Independance and freedom of not being in another's home or the nursing home and I know others.
i dunno who started this trend to convert bathtubs into a lesser product, namely showers, but i hope he rots in hell. The main fault is the customer who wants such thing, those bathtubs could last hundreds of years of cared properly and with luck, and they just destoy them.
Pretty stupid comment. Senior citizens and/or disabled people who have difficulty stepping into their tub often need a reasonably priced walk in option.

Yes the wood is for the support of the polyurethane / plastic insert when stepping on. James - Ohio Walk In Showers.
Good stuff. Helped me out greatly.
How many hours does this usually take?

Good job.
What is max width this will accommodate?
Wow, only _over_a_thousand_dollars_ for a piece of plastic? I'll take two, they're small.
Looks like $300 per hr install.
The existing tub safety overflow would have to be lowered too guys. Good economic fix though.
Doesn't seem low enough
??????? I still don't get it. You can't have plenty water ?????
ok I have this tub but want to change back to a regular bathtub how do I do that ?

Unless I'm missing something it also appears that this procedure would only allow for about two inches of bath water......what's the point of a bath?
+Michael Ryan they make a slip in panel to return to a tub use maybe fro a different company but i saw it
+Michael Ryan Safeway Step Bathtub Accessibility Modification has the watertight door that can be installed to still use it as a bath
Its for a shower instead LOL
Its for a shower
