As a person with that Flameseeker warband I'd allow the Seraphon reaction to nullify my critical hit. Seems only fair, despite what the rules are.

Mighty fine of you! Id hope I would do the same. It does feel cheap to resolve it this way as it takes a full action to use a reaction. Ending up really wasteful for the seraphon

Great video, thank you! Love your "rules everyone gets wrong" series, really helpful to refresh the rules even for veteran players

Thank you! I hope it doesn’t come across as obnoxious because these are rules I have also gotten wrong hahaha

I'm a little confused by the comments saying this interaction is unfair for the Seraphon player - assuming you and your opponent both know the rules going in, it's not like you're trying to gotcha your opponent? Rather than ruling it, or playing it the other way, I'd be more likely to check that my opponent was aware of how the interaction would work and get them to confirm they want to react.

Exactly this. Gotcha-cry is not the way. Always explain weird interactions beforehand.

The ignite weapon one feels scuffed. Count 1 miss from THE NEXT attack action made by this fighter as a critical hit instead. This should resolve before the attack is made regardless of weather its condition has been met. Resolving the ability after the seraphons reaction seems and feels wrong as it would apply to THE NEXT ATTACK. They shouldn't be able to resolve it after the dice has been rolled as it should effect the dice the moment they are rolled and not when the hits are being resolved as the seraphons ability triggers and effects the results of the dice and has already been resolved before hit rolls are made. The main reason being is that the dwarf has to use its ability before the attack, and the seraphon after being attacked. This is my understanding from playing years and years of magic and their stack resolve system.

I see where you’re coming from but the way Warcry does sequencing (or stacking) would imply that this is how it would go down. Both effects resolve simultaneously, sequencing kicks in, sequencing, as borked as it may be, goes in favour of the Activating player. It’s not pretty, it’s not even ‘fair’, but it is what it is.
I’ll look into it further and ask around a bit. See if I can get a definitive answer

@@wargamesontoast totally fair and please do! There's a lot more to warcry than the surface level of knowing enough to play haha. It's a weird way of doing things

@@marcuskirk1284I’ve done some digging and asking, and yeah, as dirty as this may sound, this is how it would work. It’s one of the very rare instances of sequencing against one of the least reliable reactions in the game. It won’t come up often, but when it does, Flameseekers get to control the ordering when igniting.

@wargamesontoast unfortunate. It would feel like taking advantage of essentially stealing an activation from the seraphon player. I think in our playgroup, we may houserule this specific instance, lol. Thanks for the legwork tho, keep up the great work!
