- My son and I use our kayaks to look for underwater treasures and we also walk the beach looking for long lost boats and other items.
The laugh track is classic! You are a lucky man to be spending time with your son.
Yes I am! Thanks for the great comment.
Sin City Outdoors has been doing a great job documenting the dropping waters levels there. They helped a guy stuck on a house boat get back into the water when another popular RUclips channel saw what happened.
Back when I drove a Semi 35 years ago and when I was out in that part of the country we used to talk about the mismanagement of the Colorado river system and how California would have all of the water used up on their huge Almond orchards in the middle of the desert in the future. Looks like it's pretty close to being all gone. What a shame.
Nothing has really changed over all those years. Most of the water that is released through Hoover Dam (Lake Mead) is still used to water the fields in California.
Man made this lake and now man is killing it.
Your son is cool, you're a lucky man.
Yes I am.....thank you!
You can tell that jetboat went down in fairly deep water due to the imploded fuel tanks. What a neat video mixup, I love seeing old wrecks like that. It's a shame what's happening to the lake allowing you to find them but thanks for bringing us along.
We love exploring these boats but yeah, it is a shame that the water level has dropped so much that these old boats keep showing up.
@@mixup98 different than guns but good. Thx. Curious what was in the red sac. Pocket knife & a bottle of water next time maybe. Take care.
Coyote can’t believe how far he has to walk to get a drink now.
Wow! What an exciting afternoon...
I remember the "Bootay" that used to ride in those boats, in the 70s and 80s.
Such a shame what has happened to Lake Mead - doubt if it will come back in our lifetimes. Thanks for your videos.
I'm pretty sure it won't come back in my lifetime but I hope my son is able to see it happen someday.
@@mixup98 I sure hope so.
Lake Mead was racist so had to be shut down..
That was cool guys!! You never know what you might find on a treasure hunt.
Thanks for sharing your journey.👍🇺🇸
Our pleasure!
@@mixup98 Keep cool guys!!🇺🇸👍😎
GR8 VID !! 🍺 😂 👍
Awesome!! I could watch this for hours!!!
Awesome....thanks for the great feedback, Brian.
This was very interesting and fun. Thanks for taking us along.
Our pleasure!
Love the surf music.
There's been at least 20 cases where people have reported they lost all their firearms and boating accidents on lake Mead.
I just want to find one of them and get it on video.
@@mixup98 If ever found,
Do Not put it on video.. Future USA is going to be a 'very unfriendly environment... noting latest happenings.. ;(
The chattering skeleton was great. 😆 I like the hull on that kayak! 👍
Thanks E. I had fun editing this video and I'm glad you enjoyed it. I bought my Ascent H10 kayak at Bass Pro Shops and I absolutely love it.
@@mixup98 A different platform, but I also really love my "Sundolphin Pro 102"
Why did it jump scare me 😳😁
@@BrokeBoy912 😁💀😁
Hello my brother keep up the good work I am so glad to see you and your son I have been pretty sick so I haven't been on here good to see you God bless
Hello Ruben and it is good to hear from you. Sorry to hear that you have been sick and I hope you are getting better. Take care my friend and God bless.
Interesting, would love to look around there 👍🙂
Wonder if anyone is watching any of these videos and says "That's my boat". For real.
I had those same thoughts 🤔
As always great video. Keep them coming.
Will do and thank you for watching them.
Thanks for sharing your videos and keep them coming please.
More to come, Charley.
Very interesting!!!
It is crazy how low the water got. Just seeing all this and the old water lines on the sides of the mountains is sad.
Awesome video thanks 😊
You're welcome Terry and thank you for watching our video.
Unbelievably they passed up the best treasure. The v12 Allison aircraft engine that was on a racing boat at one time.
If you come across an ice chest be careful, it might have body parts inside. Those propellers have some value to them especially if they are stainless. Clean them up and sell on ebay.
Not supposed to remove anything from a federal park, not even metal detect, that said govt is ashoe and I live in Florida, doesn't matter to me.
Enjoyed seeing this video from the bottom of lake mead
I never looked at it that way before but you're right, we are walking on the bottom of Lake Mead.
Great!!
So weird you are walking along a beach now. 👍🏻
So sorry that the lake is so low, it's a shame. But some great finds , be careful and have a great weekend.
Thank you Kerry and the same to you.
Very interesting video. look forward to more. Stay safe
A good time to clean up the bottom of the lake.
Leverite.... Good one.. and I didn't expect that skeleton in the boat to move either you guys got me.. 😂.... Enjoyed the video and the adventure keep it up!
Glad you enjoyed it! 👍🤠 👍😎 👍💀
Looks like y’all could use a good rain.
That boat has the 70s era written all over it!!! Those glasses could have belonged to HOFFA! Fun video!!!
👍😎
I would hope there would be some teams going around trying to clean up the lake . it's trashed. Waters very low now is a good time 😁
nice!!!!!
Looks like you guys had a good time exploring and finding stuff. I've never seen anything on that scale before . I have pulled a couple of fishing rods out of lakes before, if they've not been in water too long , I have taken them apart and cleaned and lubed them up. A couple reels have been just thrashed. You should get some drone shots the nest time your out if you can . Thanks for taking us along
Hello J G. Lake Mead is controlled by the National Park Service and they don't allow drones or metal detectors anywhere inside their parks. Heck, we aren't even allowed to pick up items and keep them. Drone footage would be awesome, but my drone would be confiscated, along with being issued a hefty fine.
@@mixup98 didn't know that about drones , since it would just be footage
@@mixup98 Government loves to control. That's why it needs to be limited.
Thats pretty sad. Sure hope the lake gets a chance to fill back up
God Bless
It would take a lot of melting snow in the Rocky Mountains to fill up the lake again. Some 'experts' don't ever expect that to happen again.
Thanks for the cool content!
You are very welcome and thank you for watching our video.
So sad. We used to have so much fun at Lake Mead.
It will be interesting when the B29 Bomber is revealed.
The way things are going maybe that B29 will pop up someday.
Not gonna lie that laugh track with the skeleton scared me. Definitely was not expecting that. I was thinking aw someone knocked over the skeleton 💀
I have a feeling that the skeleton will be in all of my Lake Mead videos.....just for the fun of it 😁💀💀😁
The jet drive on that boat sell for like $6500
Unbelievable!
If you are going to loose your guns in a boating accident, don't choose Lake Mead
I keep looking for all those guns lost in a "boating accident", but I can't seem to find any. 😟
@@mixup98 exactly what I was thinking!
This was cool 😎 thanks
You're welcome Ira....have a great weekend.
Bit of work those boats be working again 🤣
Hey boys good to see ya! I was hoping for a pistol find or even an old carbine in the mud - man what a find that would be! Like an old mob weapon.
I'm sure there are lots of old mobster firearms in Lake Mead and if we ever find one it will certainly make for an exciting find and a really cool video. Let's keep our fingers crossed.
You found Ben Gardeners boat.
I was scuba diving there about 20 years ago an came up on a small cabin type boat, and found a boat anchor stuck to one of the many tiny "trees" that were still standing up on the bottom
It is sad that the lake is drying up! I've got to say that is the coolest skeleton that I have ever seen!!
😁💀😁
Were there any actual bodies found on the bed of lake Mead?
@@NJPurling Human remains were found at Callville Bay, which is part of Lake Mead. Authorities believe it was a person that drowned many years ago.
Stainless steel props can be refinished and used or sold 👍
Thanks for the tip!
Grat video mix.
Thank you David.
Sad to see jet boat sunk, I could build it back if could only get it out, building a 1977 Cheetah now! Thanks for posting!
Interesting video Mix. You seem like a fun guy to hang out with.
Actually you would probably find me quite boring.....funny, but boring 👍😁
Reminds me when my Dad and I would go to a salvage yard up in Lockewood N. Nevada back in the 70’s.
We did a lot of scavenging and recycling and repurposing what other people would throw away into something useful.
Lot of rad booty back then I’ll tell ya…
I remember the same thing with my dad except we would go to the local dump in Henderson, Nevada where the rows of rad booty vehicles were stacked four high.
I'm glad to see y'all managing to make something good out of a sad situation. Am I wrong thinking that small boat had a pretty big engine?
Yeah, that did seem like a pretty big engine for such a small boat.
''Speed'' boat
I’m oddly fascinated by dry lake beds. I spent a fair amount of time on Mead and Havasu, growing up. It’s somewhat surreal watching these videos.
cool audio clip at the beginning! It's from Ministry and track name Stigmata, from their album 'The Land of Rape and Honey' 1988
The audio clip in my video is called "Franklin's Fight" and it is available here on youtube under their "free music" section. I will admit that Stigmata and Franklin's Fight do sound similar.
@@mixup98 That's interesting, they sound so similar I'm surprised there hasn't been legal action. That's cool you actually listened to it! Texas hat tip to you Sir
@@ultra4e Thank you and a tip of the hat to you too! 👍🤠
You are watching a lake slowly turn into a nautical Cemetery..!
Great to see the kayaks out there my friend 🎣🤠l still can't believe what has happened to that lake both videos are very interesting and sad at the same time I really hate to see that...you did find some very interesting stuff out there.....hope all is well with you my friend see you again soon
We are hoping to get back out to the lake next week and find some more interesting stuff. Or we might get to the range and do a shooting video. Unfortunately my son only has one day a week that we can get together. Kayaks or guns. It's a tough decision 👍🙂
Makes me think of my dad's Kona jet boat that sank in 120' back in the 80s. They sent a diver and brought it back up. It has since lived a happy life on top of the water, with plexiglass panel added across the back and a small block instead of heavy big block. My uncle even recently rebuilt a 460 Ford that was in a boat that sank. Makes me wonder why some of those boats were left, especially the jet boats. I couldn't identify any of the engines from the video.
2:00 AMC 360 or 401 engine.
I know you've been to TONAPAH NV!
The surrounding area is a SIMILAR condition yet NOT UNDER WATER!
I found a "HUGE" blacksmith FORGE there!
Probably wighed 300 lbs!
Thats why it's still there!
Watch out for 1000 ft. deep Mineshafts!
Yep, it was FUN!
Someone should go out there get a bunch of stuff and take it back to the house and have a lake mead yard sale lol
When you guys finally find that treasure box with gold in it, give me a holla.👍😁
We will!
Came for the firearms and stayed for the journey.. Happy you share your videos and thoughts with us @mixup98
And if I remember wrong and it wasn't a gun shooting 'shorts' video then I don't know how I got here, but I'm glad I still made it..😅👍❤️👍
We are having a heat wave here in southern Nevada and it is way too hot to get to the range and make a shooting video. I can handle the heat out at the lake though. I hope to post a shooting video sometime in the next week or two.
That was cool guys. Too bad the lake had to dry out to make this but Thanks.
You always wanted a boat. Looks like some of those can be restored
It would be a fun project trying to restore one of these boats, although the park service won't allow for the removal of any of the boats.
Good video 😊📸
Thanks 👍🤠 👍😎
Wow. Totally different content and I really enjoyed it. Has the water at Lake Meade receded to reveal all those treasures? Surprised the park service does not clean it up but with the state of the Federal Gov’t., I understand why. They can’t(won’t) even secure our southern border. Keep ‘em coming!
Thanks for the great feedback on our video, Mike. Lake Mead has dropped over 140 feet in just the last two years. Overpopulation and lack of snow in the Rocky Mountains are two of the reasons that the water level is dropping.
The place is like a palace compared to the cleanup needed in Washington.
@@mixup98 Overpopulation is going to be the killer…it’s already happening
Your video was entertaining, I loved the laugh tracks. The skeleton on the boat was scary when it moved then hilarious when the laugh track came in.
The second engine block looked like something off of a P40 Warhawk, like an Allison engine, maybe off of a P51 mustang or some WW2 airplane. Looks like a keeper.
Cool and sad all at once. Amazing sight to see Brother. Thumbs up ~John
You're right John, it is both sad and cool. I'm glad I don't have a boat sitting on the bottom of Lake Mead.
caught my first fish in lake mead when i was 7 years of age. it was a 6 lb bluegill. back in 1975.
👍😎 🐡
TRUCKING WATER TO THE ELITE IN Ca. Will be BIG BUSINESS, SOON!
Man, the stories those boats could tell, frozen in time.
If you find a pair of Varnet' sunglasses with blue frames...
There're mine.
👍😎
Id wager that most, (almost all), of these boats were not "lost" or the result of accidents. They are insurance jobs. The boat was intentionally sank and reported stolen.
State natural resources departments won't just let you leave a boat that sinks due to accidents in the lake due to oil and fuel on board polluting the water.
In Florida some people just leave abandon junk boats in the bay floating with the #s removed until the govt eventually removes them and makes the tax payers pay for it. Some people don't want to pay for them to be properly disposed of. RVs are another thing it eventually cost to have disposed of, no scrap value.
😅I loved the intro! That was great! Well done.
Awesome! I appreciate the great feedback.
That first boat looked like it must have went like a rocket in its day.
Another cool video! The ground looks hard as a rock and there's a lot of area to cover, but looks like a good place for a metal detector. Maybe could focus on old day use areas
I would love to use a metal detector at Lake Mead but unfortunately the park service prohibits their use.
@mixup98 Great video as always sir! It's sad to see what has happened to this area, the cigar did it for me haha. Keep up the great work!
They should do a $100 day keep what you can carry
I know right?
It makes no sense to me why they wouldn't want to clean this stuff up.
The best one from Lake Mead was Tommy Lee and Pamela Anderson chicken bobb.......
The engine in the blue boat would be fine. Just turn the crankshaft and hone the cylinders.
That second engine at 1:17 to me looks like a Merlin or an Allison, looks like it has an aircraft exhaust stack on it. If that’s what it is that’s heartbreaking.
Used as a mere boat anchor - - the rods alone must be worth $100 each today had they been saved.
Fiberclassic @3:36
To think you and I went swimming right there at Boulder Beach as kids mr. mixup98....I thought at one time there was a floating platform to dive off, but not absolutely sure. Seems that area was buoyed off for swimmers in part of it at that time. Thanks sir and be cautious of that "Leaverite."
Unbeleavable what may find on the dried up lake floor 😁
Every one of those jet pumps is worth $1000 .
If I didn't live too far away in Oregon I would be there with cutting gear - tools and a wheeled dolly to salvage the jet pumps.
To remove the jet pump from these boats takes a chain saw to cut around the pump and the transom.
The pumps aren't bolted to the motor only a U-joint with a splined coupler to the pumps drive shaft.
I would think a metal detector would be useful to use where the marinas have dried up. A drone would come in handy too.
Unfortunately neither a metal detector nor a drone are allowed at Lake Mead and they will be confiscated by the National Park Service.
I wonder if you could have found a date somewhere on the battery that was in the very first boat to get an idea about how long ago it sunk. Because batteries usually are only good for a few years. 👍🏼
on another video they found two registration stickers the latest one being 2013 on this boat
Those scrap motors a worth a bit and that prop. The lead from the batteries is worth some.
Be a good job for convicts cleaning all that up while it's exposed.
Crazy
You should go back for that propeller. That might be made of brass or stainless steel. Makes for a good decoration or for a man or woman cave. If the spline is messed up still scrapping makes money.
Very interesting. 🫡
Leever "right" goes along with leever "A" and leever "B". Thanks for the tragic update.
👍😁
My Grandma was born in the 1800s. She used to say "ice chest". Haven't heard that now in about 60 yrs.
👍😁
In the midwest they are commonly known as "coolers".
Dried lake beds are crazy. I once found a human femur. God knows best its story.
what'd you do with it?
@@johnded3874 I took it to my sister's house and she had a friend that was a doctor. He confirmed it was a femur. My intention was to bury it at the lake properly, but at my sister's house it remained and I don't know it's fate.
@@OG_Jin_Bling that's interesting, even though its strange and eerie.Hope it gets buried properly, who knows that guy went through or what he did before he died.
Yep them boat Motors ain't no good that's for sure on the other hand those jet pumps might be brought back to life with a little bit of hard work
