I will buy sand ,take it back to the creek and set it free.
Thank You George.
it's fools gold. a mineral that looks just like gold..... I know cause I used to breed fish. I used bunnings sand as substrate till I found flakes of 'gold' in it. so I bought hundreds of kgs of bunnings sand and panned out the gold. all to find out it is a different mineral that looks just like gold. guy is a bs artist.
@@JestarMurray why would you buy hundreds of kilos of sand for a couple of specs of gold ?
@@TheBlokeOutback did you read my comment? I used it as substrate for my fish tanks and other tasks around the house. I can see how my comment sounded like I just went and bought 15-20 bags to try collect gold. you have to clean the sand as it's river sand and I recommend sifting out as much of the heavy metals and debris as possible if it is to be used in an aquarium. I noticed it and started collecting it.
@@JestarMurray fair enough but I gotta say just because you found pyrite doesn’t mean this fella can’t tell the difference, I’m pretty new to prospecting and find it reasonably easy to tell them apart
Taking sand to the creek to sluice it. You are a gem
Well he doesn’t have to spend money on water and he probably doesn’t need the sand anyways so it’s much easier just to go to a creek
For many, many years Boral (the concreting company) had (or still has) a sand and gravel quarry near Ballarat that has gold in it. Millions of tonnes of concrete was poured using sand that has gold in it. Ive seen buckets of the same sand panned off via the geologist that worked on the site....it was eye-opening!
There was a company on the American gold hunters that did this. They were on a massive gold deposit but the business was for concrete and sand etc.
Boral also made concrete blocks with the same sand. There's literally gold in the walls and floors of buildings.
Interesting 🤔
I’m curious as to how consistent Bunnings sand finds would be…?
It’s Father’s Day today and I believe I have a legitimate excuse for a Bunnings snag sanga 😂
Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers out there 🤜🤛
Cheers 🍻🍻🍻🇦🇺
Happy Father's Day Aaron!

Today i bought a minelab gold pan kit from Anaconda. And a bag of play sand from bunnings.
I can absolutely confirm the bunnings play sand contains..... lots of black sand and mica that looks like gold.
Didnt actually find any definite gold flakes.
Was a fun afternoon with the kids though.
I've only been following for a few weeks and everything I learnt about prospecting has come from you and I actually found my first picker yesterday, so thanks and keep up the awesome videos
I'm impressed with his knowledge of geology, mineralogy, and history, and his explanations really help you understand where to look and what to look for. I honestly believe if I had the right area around me, I could be successful at panning for it with all I've learned from Chris.
When I think of what I've learned from his channel, it really hurts when I think of all the times in my past I'd hiked and camped in the Colorado mountains outside Golden south of the Central City area.
Now I realize I probably had been camped out right next to streams, creeks, and rivers that must have had ounces of gold just sitting there. Oh wasted youth!
@@longbowshooter5291 don't worry mate I only just started after years of walking past rivers and creeks thinking that'll be a good spot to look, but that just gives you a reason to go back to great places
@@Jimmyhasfacts
Wish you all the luck in the world, and I hope you have a great time whether you find gold or not.
I do not deny the reasons, just the abilities and resources to do so.
To be sadly honest, if I was to squat down to pan a gold pan, I'm afraid that's where they'd find me come spring thaw! Still in that squat.
Not to mention I'm about 1,000 miles from any good areas. I hear there IS some gold in the northern section of the main river coming through my state, but it's sparse and extremely fine, and still farther than I could arrange to travel.
Like I said - a wasted youth. I lived in the Colorado Rockies, hiked for days and miles into them, camped near streams, creeks, and rivers that HAD to have gold in them. And I never thought about it.
Damn!
Good luck to you.
Ive been going for about the same amount and have found only one noteworthy flake. you must be lucky then!
As a Perth native, i have found that all the coastal sandplain has interesting minerals, the darling ranges definitely have gold and 30 minutes inland has much gold to be found in granites and quartz, but not as much as everywhere else in WA, love light amplified 💖
That's more gold than we found the other day. I'm going to say tho no one is going to tell Baz Chizzlack thst he can't eat sand he says it's good roughage
Lol👍🏼👊🏼
Interesting video Chris. I think that many of us have seen those bags of sands and gravels in Bunnings (or local equivalent) and wondered if they might contain any gold?
One thing that both of those bags of sand could be used for, is to practice sluicing, panning and clean up skills at home when we have some spare time, but not enough time to get to the gold fields.
Mark from Melbourne Australia
Thats a great idea mate 👍👍 great for the kids too 👍
very good idea to practice t home.
i can see the headlines now " local gold prospector banned from kiddies playground for sluicing the sandpit. he was muttering constantly that it would be the good whisky this week " 🤣
I use so much of that river sand as a landscaper. Who knew. I probably paved over $12 worth of gold in the last 10 years!
Makes me wonder how much gold has passed through my hands over 30 years of pumping concrete
@@TheBlokeOutback it would probably add up. Depending where the sand is sourced from. There's 108 bags in a cubic metre, 2/7th sand in a typical 4:2:1 mix, so 31 bags per cubic metre of concrete. Out of one bag he got around 1/2 cubic mm of gold dust. (It wasn't, but for ease of calculation we'll use this as a metric) Gold dust is around $72/gram (working on 3000/oz) So .001 grams of gold per bag is around 7.2 cents per bag. So around $2.20 per cubic metre? Unless my math is wrong. If you pump on average 20 cube a day $44/day?
@@1one3_Racing yeah I reckon I’ve had heaps pass through was pumping in Melbourne and Geelong for 24 years and pumping back home in the north east for another 8 or 9 so far, so I’m spreading gold around all over the place 🤣
And Gold is where ya find it... What a great giggle, thank you Chris.
If memory serves me i have seen this done before. You have really brought it to a whole different level. RIGHT ON.Keep it up brother enjoyed very much.keep it up.
That miniature sluce is adorable!
At those prices I just assumed the bagged rocks were gold.
I have panned through 4 bags of Home Depot sand with no luck, just some black sands to show for the effort.
Father's day trip to Bunnings it is..Thanks Chris that was cool 😎
Try not to spend too much time or money there! 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Hopeless request, I know as I always find at least one thing that I have to buy! 😂😂😂😂

Hahaha, its the place to be
Oh so today i bought a minelab gold pan kit from Anaconda. And a bag of play sand from bunnings.

You’ve been watching to many videos from North America lol which isn’t a bad thing a lot of tubers have done that here but your the first I know of from down under glad there was gold it seams to be in any sands that come from gold bearing areas pretty cool thanks for sharing see you on the next one 👍🏼👊🏼
Ok folks, No where else will you hear gold referred to as "contamination" Hahahaha. Fun video Chris!
Thankyou for answering the questions we all ask ourselves, but don’t want to spend $7.62 to find out.
and the price of Bunnings sand and gravel just went through the roof lmao, another awesome video Chris 👌👍
Tell me about it
$8.50 for sand to get 8.5 cents worth of gold out of it.
It would make sense to someone!
You could get 50 cents worth the company selling the sand might consider processing I think you need at least 2 g per tonne to make it viable@@1one3_Racing
Going to bunnings to find gold, is GOLD!!! 😃
Cool experiment Chris! Have you ever tried to do what Klesh does...vacuum up sidewalk cracks...in front of a jewelery store?? That would be an awesome video!😊
Jandakot WA, a bit south of Perth, several miles west of the Darling fault line. It's just north of serpentine valley where there's a big mining application underway. The fault line hosts the old Boddington gold mines further south.
I've been trying up in those Hills for blinking ages without any real results....
Jandakot, though, has shops. And a climbing gym, where we're headed later. I'm taking my shovel where I know there's a lot of soft, black sand. Nice tip-off Chris!
I remember when Shane from Klesh did this with Home Depot play sand. He didn't find a lot of gold but he definitely found gold in it. Great video, love what you do!
Yeah, I tried it with home depot sand just for poops and giggles and not even a dot. Then I got to use the sand to rebuild my mailbox after someone hit it. At least I got some use for my money.
Don't think I will be running out to Bunnings for some sand 🤣😂, but it's interesting to see what there was in it.
Thanks for the video Chris 👍🤓✌️
Chris the wholistic prospector. Fighting riparian erosion , one bunnings bag at a time !
We landscaped our kids kinder a while back with about 25 tonne of washed sand. Now im thinking of sending the young lad in with a pan tomorrow.
Sorry to correct you Chris, there is a higher grade strip being mined 300 kms NE of the super pit,
apparently running at around 2.5 ounces/ton, the super pit is about 1.5.
historically the golden mile has been the richest stretch of earth on the planet
Hi Chris great video just thought I would point out that the wa sand was probably holding more gold because it's more likely to be crushed bull quartz not sand from a creek at all that's because they sell it as crushed silica for other things as well as play sand for smelting etc cheers mate keep up the great vids I never miss one
That's an interesting point
its fools gold. I used bunnings sand for aquariums when I was breeding fish. it looks like gold but it's not gold. guy is full of shit.@@VoGusProspecting
Can you get Bunnings rocks and crush them
I Second that motion
i am not sure why YT stopped showing me your videos months (maybe a year ago) im sorry but i forgot about your channel.
im so glad it popped up again
im ready to binge watch and catch up again
Bas chizlack!!!!!
You should check out the company method of cleaning the sand from WA and see if they are or not capturing any gold from their process.
Haha that's amazing 👌👌😂 if you see some bloke in Bunnings with all the river sand bags and a gold monster it's me just checking 😂😂
The Dream Mat Adventure sluice comes with the baby sluice. Can't say much about the baby one but the adventure sluice is so much fun to use and super light too.
From a sandgroper, black sand could be ilmenite - stacks of the stuff there.
You crack me up now you're going from rivers into the store and buying sand to find gold I was actually looking through all your videos and noticed one thing you're always so happy and that is freaking awesome as long as you keep making these good videos and keep being happy I'll watch them till the day I die 😎👍
We need more videos like this! It’s a cool idea! Keep it up!
been panning for a while, and the biggest flake i have found is probably 2mm squared. one day...
That’s so awesome brother, Pauly found some in Home Depot on Vancouver island too just down the road from me 😂
Jeff Williams did this originaly, I'm about to go get some gold😂
Off to bunnings for a sausage and some sand!
Tell us later what else you end up buying! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Thanks for starting the next great Bunnings shortage.
1st it was a plumbing reducer now it'll be sand supplies. 😏
Love ya videos mate. 👌
Really fun video Chris.
Like a shop bought
pay dirt bag
With less guarantee.
Thanks 😊.
That's what I was thinking! Still, it would be a good cheap way to get yourself some classified concentrates to practice your sluicing, panning and clean up skills on!
Mark from Melbourne Australia
Pioneer Paulie has done this in Canada but with home depot sand
Ah, Chris, you will make a rush on Bunnings sand.
Lots of fun and nice of you to donate sand to the river.
Now the question is whether Chris would get a better return on his money if he had bought shares in Wesfarmers who own Bunnings vs the return he got from the Play Sand or the River Sand and the capital tied up in his gold prospecting equipment? 😂😂😂😂
Silly question as one investment is for his channel and the other is to provide Chris with a passive income for when his "Old man back" prevents him from prospecting any more.
Mark from Melbourne Australia
I never thought to check through Bunnings for much of anything prospecting related, good video👍
Personally,
Whilst getting supplies for a pond construction, I managed to find a low quality ruby, a small but high quality red garnet and a very peculiar piece of nephrite amongst river stones we picked up from the local ANL.
No gold unfortunately, i honestly didn't expect much of anything from the location it came from, so, I was kinda surprised.
Me eyeing off the 4 bags of Bunnings sand I have in the backyard 🧐
As some one born in nsw I don’t know if we have too much gold w but I have tried my luck in a local creek and I found nothing
Very interesting Chris. Thanks for sharing your adventures. Cheers
Nice to run into you instore the other day Chris, if we get a spike in sales we’ll be sure to cut you in 😂
Very cute. I'm Wondering how much gold in the same amount of random sand from that gold bearing creek
No gravel just sand?
River sand has been washed too. It's to remove the salt so that it doesn't kill plants.
You want river sand for cement use too
I think that this river sand was "washed" to get the gold out first. That would make sense in an area that's know for gold bearing sands.
I used to have a claim that was just downstream from a dam on a river in southern Oregon. When they built the dam, they used the gravels from the stream bed and you bet they sluiced the gravels before incorporating them into the dam. From what I understand, they had a lock on the box and did a clean out once a week and all the concentrates were loaded into an armored vehicles and taken to a bank vault. My father was a police officer in the area and he's also a geologist. Just shows that being a geologist don't pay when you got a family. We still have claims in the area and in Nevada. Though the Nevada ones are to sell to mining companies except for two that i mine myself for fun. Its work, but I get to hang out with wild horses and coyotes.
@@mikeblair2594 The sand in question is horticultural sand, suitable for potting mix etc, so it has been washed for that reason. Whether or not the sand miners bother trapping gold I don't know. Wild horses and coyotes sounds pretty cool.
Taking sand to the creek! Hilarious!!😂
Hi chris from South Wales uk, another great video.."..". 👍
I really didn't expect that, but wow.
Hi Chris,
You're contaminating the geology by bringing foreign sand to the creek. 😁
I found some opals in a bag of river pebbles from bunnings.
There will be a lot of sand pit build in Aussie land now. I'm going to Bunning today mate. Bloody good on yar
Everytime i buy dirt or sand. Youre making me want to let the intrusive thought win and pan all of it 😂
Love it Chris
4:38 the mat is already dirty. I suspect thats where the gold came from. There was nothing in the bag i just panned out today.
What? Not allowed to eat sand??
But... but, its soooo crunchy...
Love it dude, gonna need to check some of those bags of possible agates I reckon
Welcome to your new home 😂👍
Hmm, and I spent $14 on prawns and worms to drown today. Wondering if I should reconsider my Sunday options...
Cris you introduced a different species off sand into reedy Creek 😂😂😂
Catch and release
That does it, I'm cashing out my super and heading to bunnings! Guaranteed returns! Woo!
It makes you wonder if there are any flakes hiding in nearby sand boxes.
😂ive been thinking of doing the same thing as the bunnings dirt where i live comes from hill end which is also gold bearing ground love it well done chris
This has to be the the most original idea since Pioneer Pauly invented this idea.
I've seen seen it a few times.
Still enjoyed it.
I was kind of hoping that you'd find a bit more than that 😢
Awesome fun video, cheers Chris!
That's funny, thanks for sharing Chris.
that new 'Gourmet' pay dirt will be flying off the shelves :))
Fun vid as always.
Even 1 gram would make this more than 5:1 return. Such a cool idea.
Right,,I’m off to Bunnings.
Unfortunately there are no rivers near jandakot our sand is heavy in silicons around perth
"RUclipsr causes a rush on sand at Bunnings - details at 6!"
Apparently Melbourne sits on a gold patch and considering the Dandenongs to the East and the last bit of the Great Dividing Range to the north I am not surprised. The whole area had a bunch of volcanoes way back which have eroded down. There were a couple of gold mines in the Ringwood area in the early days, not to mention more north of the city.
Back in the 70s, they used to line the streets in Perth with crushed quartz and used it to make roads. I remember picking up and keeping the rocks in our street and I am sure I saw bits of yellow in them (God only knows what happened to them!) and a few years ago someone actually tested the quartz and found it had a heap of gold in it. The road works had been sold the quartz from around some gold mining areas or from the discard piles of such because I suppose someone thought there wasn't any gold in it or maybe it just wasn't worth crushing etc since the mines produce it so easily! So YES! the streets are paved with gold!
There was also a working gold mine in Glen Waverley from 1895. Corner High st and Springvale Rd. 4ounces per ton yield.
The Channel Ozgeographics covers exactly how and why there is Gold under Melbourne.
Homer! That sand was for the sandbox!
"Marge, if you don't mind, I'm a little busy right now achieving financial independence."
With Bunnings play sand?
"no... Through savings and wise investment. Of course with Bunnings play sand!."
Enjoyed the video some Gold better than no gold ⚒️🇺🇸🕳️⛏️
Kiddys playgrounds sand disappearing xd
there's gold in those bags of sand from Bunnings, well I'm not rushing out to buy that gold!
Gidday, that was mad cool. i wonder if We'd be so lucky here in New Zealand 😂,
I can't help but laugh at the stupid idea of you somehow getting in trouble for illegal dumping of river sand in a river... full of sand 😂
11:02 - "let's do the bag" true aussie
Awesome video ⚒️⛏️👏🤍
8:06 cuppa's ready!
Do you know if there's a 3d printer .stl file for the micro sluice? Most printers could print 2 at a time.(for about $5-10)
Now that's entertainment.
Really though, how hard was it to figure that out, it's right in the name of the sand bags. "RichGro"
A great slogan would be Grow Rich with RichGro.
I processed a couple of pans from my kids sandpit, just out of curiosity after watching this...... no gold..... just two Lego bricks and a small cat turd
Are you allowed to sluice regular beach sand in Victoria?
I could never find the rules.
What a crackup 😅 big plug for bunnings there Chris.
this reminds me of when the guy buys a lobster at a resturant and takes it back to the ocean lol
mate, the only thing yr gonna find in sand from jandakot, is maybe some shards of broken beer bottles.
That play sand is better than half the paydirt bags on the Internet
That is a pretty sad statement about the quality of the paydirt bags! 😢
@@markfryer9880 True but Chris has some nice jars with a guaranteed amount of gold and so does Dan Hurd. You just have to read the fine print on the ad.
It only makes sense that there would be a little bit of gold in that bag of sand.
