The Bears in their current 0-13 streak have given up 437 points. Thats an average of giving up 33.61 points per game. Last I checked, Fields doesn't play defense. It should not be all on the quarterback.

The offense is a total mess. It's too predictable, and we have too many of the same plays back to back to back. Yes, Justin isn't playing well, but there is more too it than just him. Then we keep stopping Justins best asset (the ability to use his legs) by forcing him to stay in pocket and just make read after read hoping and waiting for someone to get open.

I really like the way Jenkins is trying to analyze the play designs & the issues with the receivers not creating space. The other thing is that the Bears were playing with a makeshift offensive line due to injuries. More than any other unit, offensive lines thrive on continuity. Without that familiarity, there are way too many breakdowns. Also, defenses win championships... and the Bears have so many new guys on defense that they still have not been able to gel. And when you are playing a well-oiled machine like the Chiefs' offense, you just can't have so many breakdowns... 'cuz you're gonna get burned! I have to keep reminding myself that GM Poles preaches patience. The Bears are only beginning the 2nd year of Poles' 4-Year Plan to bring a championship level team back to Chicago. He was hired due to his Plan & we need to watch it play out. As a fan, I seem to always want instant success. In sports & in life, good to great things just don't happen overnight.

You are on the right track except it takes time to develop a more effective offensive line and a defense that can work together to get the ball back into the offense's hands. Without that happening, Fields & the offense is stuck always playing from behind. A perfect parallel is baseball. If the pitching and defense is lacking, too much pressure is put on the offense to put runs on the board. Defense produces wins in both football & baseball. Other than the few games LY where they changed the offense this staff has coached him from a "Take it or leave it" perspective...unfortunately what they're putting on tape is so poor they are likely impacting their own chances of surviving the season. I’m somewhat surprised that for someone that analyzes for a living, he hasn’t drawn a definitive conclusion on Justin Fields. Two different coaches, one who went to the playoffs the prior year with Mitch Trubisky, almost 30 game started, a horrendous record, horrendous stats, And we’re still holding onto a few flash plays? Not sure if you know what the definition of an NFL bust is, but it’s someone that was talented that didn’t live up to expectations. Mitch Trubisky was a phenomenal athlete, so were a bunch of other guys they couldn’t put it together to earn the name NFL bust. so again, why are we hanging on to Justin Fields running ability and strong arm? Unathletic quarterbacks have succeeded for decades because they had the mental game. Fields does not. Can’t believe we’re still making excuses for this kid

I'm pretty sure that Fangio's defense was the main reason the Bears went to the playoffs in 2018. There were questions about Nagy's offense by week 10 in 2018. Mitch was run out of town because he "couldn't play" even though we saw that regardless of who was at quarterback, Nagy's offense didn't work in Chicago. I'm not saying Justin is remotely flawless, but when you watch the tape, you can see that there are many things wrong with this offense that Justin has little to no control over and it has been that way for 2+ years now.

I don't want to fight with either side of the Fields debate. I simply want to highlight something that is missing from the debates. There are those that believe that Fields isn't a good QB because of him alone. There are some who believe that the org has failed him and that he can still develop into a starting QB. There is a sub group that is out on Fields because we don't just want a starting caliber QB. I want a QB who we win because of not just when the circumstances are ideal. I thought that Fields had that type of potential and that's why I was all in on him. I'm not interested in having a QB who's ranked 11-30. Top 10 or bust tbh. The WRs might be wide open, as people won't stop saying to my annoyance, but Fields has 3 rushers up his butt or a LB is sitting in the the middle of the open WR. DBs will also sit further away from WRs at times depending on the zone but they're more than ready to charge and grab the ball from the wide open guy. A QB knows how to read that where the fans dont. Here's how: turn him lose you are losing bad anyway, can't be any worse but may find you have been wrong. use quick release pass plays like slants, quick loos, use tight end down middle like Ohio State did against Notre Dame. use safe side line like down and out for 8 yards. Just dink and dunk, as long as you are moving the chains. Then the defense will slow their rush a little and he will have time to throw deep. Also, on running plays use some gap or slant runs, even a draw, or one where the wide receiver comes over toward center and gets a shuffle pass. and open the offense I means spread them out make space all over the field. it is easy just start with simple quick passes, this would also get him confidence. Write now he can't get out of the negative mindset, you see this as he hangs his head.

Justin had opportunities in abundance to prove he can either read a defense or see a receiver open and throw to a receiver open. It's not there, maybe it's a mental thing he has to fix, sure. But this Jenkins guy is digging into Middle Earth for excuses or reasons why JF1 looks so bad. I mean, you can look at the potential in Zach Wilson if we apply the same standard we do for Justin. I see from these Fields fanboys (I was until training camp) far too many excuses for a 3rd year QB who has already been through two regimes. Either you can put on the big boy pants and deliver with some competency in the pocket or you can't take coaching on a professional level. You don't have to be a Drew Brees or Tommy Boy. But, these defenses in the NFL will force you to do things you are bad at. Justin is being exposed. Simple.

The problem is he does not have the Instinct as well as the mental fortitude to trust his receivers to catch the ball. Justin Fields is a tremendous athlete but there's more to being quarterback. The problem also comes down to the fact that the coaching staff has horrible plays for them to run. They have about 10 plays which they seem to run on repeat making it quite easy for other teams to figure out the scheme. They should be doing everything possible to give Justin Fields some short routes so that he gains confidence because the aspect of instinct is difficult to home if you are constantly required to throw to receivers that are not open down field. Fields is not doing a great job there is no doubt about it, but Jesus Christ the coaching staff is doing an atrocious job of developing him.

I think what the coaches don’t trust is the O-line to protect Justin. You just said he drops back and the defenders are on top of him and the receivers aren’t open. Justin is very smart. Didn’t he score the highest of any NFL player, like ever, on some sort of test they make them all do? Lack of smarts isn’t his problem. A crappy supporting cast is his problem. And we’ve seen what he can do, this is a WHOLE TEAM issue. It’s also a coach and play calling issue. People really need to stop blaming Justin for the fact that this team sucks top to bottom and has sucked for a while. Didn’t they ruin the last good QB they had too? I’m hoping he goes to another team soon before this franchise ruins yet another good QB. Why in the hell did they try to change his footwork? The footwork he’s been used to and successful with since he started playing? It’s like fixing something that wasn’t broken to begin with.

Carrying water for the NFL's bad quarterbacks seems to be a more stable job for former quarterbacks than actually working your way into coaching. Less hours too. These guys like Jenkins and Orlovsky openly admit to being in their corner, and then are given time to pretend the league is filled with fantastic quarterbacks regardless as to their actual performance. This nonsense works on parents you charge to coach up their kid, but it is lousy analysis.
Answer me this, how can an offensive playcaller work with someone who has more fumbles than games played, a higher interception rate than Jameis and Zach Wilson, and a higher sack rate than David Carr? Fields is a walking negative play. It wasn't a net positive last year, and this year they aren't getting the big runs. He swings like Kyle Schwarber, strikes out at the same rate, but doesn't give you the home runs.

Bears receivers not being open is a pure falsehood. I watched every single play and 80% of the time, there was a man open that Fields did not throw to.

JF is good at two things. Running … and throwing the ball while running.
I suggest a player of his particular skill set operate exclusively in the play-action scenario.
The formation never changes. On every single play, the defense will see exactly the same formation. One tight end, three receivers, and a running back behind the QB.
On every single play, the defense will see the QB under center, taking the snap, and moving back to hand it off to the running back, who may be moving towards the line, or left, or right.
On every single play, if the ball is not handed off …. The QB will boot one way or the other.
As he runs, he will determine if there is an open player he can hit relatively easily … or he will continue on foot and gain a first down. The running back is either a roving blocker, or a target.
The defense cannot really cheat either way. They must present a balanced look. IF they bring a heavy line, for example on 3rd and 1 …. The QB can simply boot and run for the first down, or throw it to a receiver wide open deep.
If it is 3rd and 20 … and the defense is playing deep off the ball .. the QB can hand it off straight up the gut through a three man defensive line. HE can boot and run amok in the secondary, a forte of his.
The power of the offense is that the QB can see what the defense is presenting and decide right up until seconds after the snap .. .what the play will be. Even when he has decide to naked bootleg it … it can still be a pass or a run. Justin has the ability to kill a defense on his feet when he’s in the open. Getting him in the open looking for open receivers is key to Justin’s success. You don’t need to think as you run. Is anyone open near me or easily connected with? No? Keep it.
A very simple offense that has amazing power. The defense only ever gets one look, yet it has no idea what’s coming. It has to be ready for a deep pass over the top …. Or a gut punch up the middle … on every single play. Easy to implement, easy to teach, easy for Justin.

Its Getsy. And thats one thing I give Tim Jenkins credit for -- he sees it. He sees what I see. Fields is being put in an impossible position. Just look at Mac Jones last year -- he looked like a bust. They changed the OC and now he looks like he MIGHT make the Pro Bowl. Where are the rubs to get our wideouts open? Where is the motion? Miami was dang near 90% motion when they put up 70 points last week. Where is the max protection to give Fields more time when your Oline is a turnstile? I could go on and on how this staff is not helping Fields. As for the receivers, when was the last time one of them fought for a ball and won? One of the worst units in football for winning the contested play. So many problems with this O, I could write a book about. And yet idiots want to jump all over Fields?? Ridiculous!! As I said before, aside from Mahomes and maybe one of other QB in the league, there is not a QB in the game that could make chicken salad out of this chicken sh*t. Last point -- its also on whoever brought in (Poles?) this rookie staff last year to train up one of our most talented players at the most important position on this fb team. Why we did not hire someone with experience as an NFL OC is an inexcusable mistake.

While I agree with what you are saying about the coaches, you are giving fields far too much credit. Most of the time he has the time to throw and he doesn't. He is playing scared and he's admitted it. Too much going on in his head. Think about any up and coming QB that is good. You never have to say, he is one of the lowest in the NFL with release time. Good QB's don't have that stat. Even ones with bad OL. Come on man.

The QB is definitely the lightning rod for most team troubles but there is always truth to some of the criticism. Great QBs have turned bad systems around. Great Qbs come in and make shhh happen.
Justin is to blame for his play for sure. But this organization is a hot mess as well. It can be both and all at the same time. Where i look to see JFs progress is historically unless he's running he's not doing well period. In the NFL he has never been a good passer. And if he has to run almost exclusively to be effective he's not a QB he's an RB. The most successful running QBs worked on their passing game. JF has regressed as a passer. His laid back footwork is not helping him. The lack of urgency i costing him atleast a second or two and elite QBs are getting it out in 2 seconds. Most of his sacks are at 4 seconds. By the time hes set hes lost most open or potentially open plays. Thats on him period.

With all the money and the picks the bears had this team shouldn't be this bad. Dont let the same people make the sam decisions. The bears are lucky to be in this situation. They basically have a do over.
