Fish Aggregation Device Buoy Network Deployed Offshore Destin - Fort Walton Beach Docushort

Destin-Fort Walton Beach, FL, the tourism department of Okaloosa County, has completed the deployment of the first four Fish Aggregating Device (FAD) buoys on August 11, 2020. The deployment occurred at four locations, 60-80 miles offshore Destin-Fort Walton Beach. The buoys are attached to a ~32,000lb concrete anchor to prevent the buoys from moving from their deployment location. These specific buoys are approximately 15ft tall with the majority of the structure existing below the waterline, providing habitat or structure for smaller fish species which become food for larger highly sought-after species of pelagic fish like Tuna, Marlin, and Mahi Mahi.
