let AQUAHOLIC (Nick Burnham) check out your yachts! He is the best at reviewing boats and yachts and I would really like to see an AQUAHOLIC tour on a silent yacht!
OMG I love that idea
We need as many people as possible to tour the yacht
I hate the Lovely references
I swear, i was going to say the same... if he lies to me, then no problem, i will take the liability of my emotional self .. but i kinda trust everything that comes out of his mouth, FOR NOW!!!
Yea! Make this Happen!!
Micheal. Your a leader in manufacturing and creating Silent Yachts. The order book exceeds any other builder even before the production. Solar is the only way forward and the industry cannot match. Only copy. Pure Genius thanks.
Thank you Chris!

I'm looking forwards to the next level in battery tech because that will really help this type of yacht.
They should partner up with tesla and uses there new 4680 cells that should have a 14000 to 30000 life cycle that would be the main reason who wants to replace all of those batteries 10 to 15 years from now plus the addition of a higher wh/kg density
It’s here! Thanks @tesla!
I wonder if the limit factor for silent yachts currently is the cost of batteries or just the energy density?
@@flexbillbert5802 solid state is coming
@@lesstevens2370 Actually they should partner up with Enphase! Microinverters would be extremely beneficial in this situation as each panel has its own inverter and acts separately from other panels that may be in shade or facing the opposite direction of the sun. Enphase battery tech is on par if not superior to Tesla at this point.
Clear explanation of the benefits of the Silent Yachts approach. Whilst initial costs may be higher, the benefits and savings over time speak for themselves.
Thanks Dan! The benefits in comparison to a regular motor yacht are significant for the owners as well as the environment.
We need to see owner reviews of the silent yachts to get an idea of how efficient and effective they really are.
@Philippe BASSO Yes. It holds more weight even though the product itself looks amazing and promising. Owners can provide their views on how it works for them, what works, what doesn't work, and what changes or improvements could be made to the product. I look forward to seeing those RUclips Videos.
We have more content in the pipeline this year - stay tuned.
I understand the desire for owner reviews, but the CEO has been very honest in interviews over what to expect from this yacht.
@@SuWoopSparrow I don't think anyone is accusing him of being dishonest. But owners can have an entirely different perspective that's valuable to hear. Sort of like why you always have someone else check your work. A fresh perspective is highly desirable.
@@Unstoppabletravel Hi - this is Michael from Silent Yachts - we received a feedback from one of our owners who does charter with his Silent 60. He had a demanding and experienced client on board, who already tested a Sunreef Eco before for 4 (four!!!) weeks and will go on another Sunreef Eco for another 2 weeks to find out the difference. Here are the numbers.
14 days charter, 240 miles, about 1.000 kWh generated by the sun (1 week they had cloudy weather, normally they would have produced about 1.400 kWh = 100 per day). Aircon on every day - day and night. Every day cooking on board, 3 meals, electric tender charged on board, watertoys. They had 7 generator hours in 14 days = half an hour per day (generator produces about 100 kWh per hour. Average speed while cruising 8 to 8,5 knots (consumption would have been less than half at 6 knots - no generator would have been required at 6 knots!).
These are the true numbers recorded in August 2023 on a Silent 60, which we produced in 2021. The gen only had been started every second day during cruising for one hour, never in a bay and of course never during the night. Same distance covered at a lower speed of 6 knots would not have required using the gen at all.
Right after this trip the client has booked on a Sunreef 80 Eco. His short summary - "the Sunreef is a nice boat, but I did not have even one "silent" night - the generator had to run every night, it kicked in at 3 or 4 in the moring and had to be started during the day for a couple of hours as well during cruising.
Guess which boat he decided to buy?
Best regards, Michael
All thumbs up to this Development. To me, this is the only possible way in future, running Yachts.
Thank you for the kind words Kuno!
Excellent demonstration of a dream boat.
Thanks a lot Adam!
I enjoyed this short video, I'm always enthusiastic about Silent Yachts, I'd like to see one of your yachts fitted with that automatic kite system you have as an option and see the result when activated in the right wind conditions and see how versatile it is in operation.
i would enjoy this as well. Does the kiet system come on a 55 size?
I have alwats had this idea as well.... A parasail or kite (sorry my english) would be great for this type of yatch.
Hi Phil! Our SILENT 60 will be the first model to be fitted with the kite sail system. Stay tuned for more information and content about it in 2021!

I watched the video and looked at the specs for the Silent 80 3 deck closed with 2 X 340 kW E-Motors, 429 kWh Lithium Battery and 2 X 145 kW Generators.
Based on the information provided, I would expect the solar panels to generate a maximum of 125 kWh on a good day. That that is sufficient power for 1 hour of motoring at 20% of max power assuming using no other power onboard.
Motoring at 20% power the fully charged batteries will give approximately 2.5 hours before the batteries reach 80% discharge.
Charging from solar only will require 2.5 - 3 days to fully charge the batteries, assuming no other power is used during that time.
The Generators running at 80% capacity will 108 kW each, assuming 10%, assuming 10% loss in charging and recovery from the battery, that gives 97kW to each drive. That would mean running at 28% of max power assuming no other power is being consumed on the boat.
While this is a boat may be suitable for an eco warrior who is prepared to forego speed, range, aircon and other conveniences in order to minimise carbon footprint, don't hold your breath waiting for an ocean crossing.
i believe they crossed the Atlantic with the 60, however i'm not a believer in smoke, mirrors, and magic either.
Cant wait to see the actual footage of the first finished Silent 60!! Keep up the good job 👍

Hello Michael... Over the years the videos are getting better and better and I look forward to each one. Can we please record someone using the actual yacht? I'd love to see an Atlantic crossing... As well as what it's like visiting here and there. While on the journey it would be great if the person showed us battery state and told us what they had been doing and what the weather was like.
It's always nice to see slick demonstration videos with professional animations, but that doesn't compare to seeing the boat actually in action from a users point of view.
Please consider it...
Hi Carson! Thanks a lot for your comment! Rest assured we are in the process of creating content with the first completed models of the SILENT 60 & 80 for 2021!
@@silentyachts Yes, I want to see how it performs in rough seas; being docked; dropping and raising the anchor; actual distances and battery draws in various scenarios; launching and using the kite on an actual voyage. Make me feel what it's like to actually own one; live in one; sail in.
An Atlantic crossing with the kite would be a fascinating video. Would love to see the thought process and actual implementation of power management. Could they manage it w/o the generator? How much of a difference does the kite make? What challenges do they face?
there are some youtubers who spent weeks on this boat - Kara and Nate, and their friends, worth checking
Dear Michael, I am happy that this is an Austrian/international project ;-) Being a keen sailor, this is the only (!) motorised yacht I would consider buying!
Your clean approach of the Silent 80 is very convincing. Thank you very much for eliminating unnecessary steps and level changes of the interior.

@@silentyachts how would it go as a charter for diving boat ?
I wish your company great success. I can't wait to ride on a Silent 1000 in 2050.
Are the battery banks easily accessible/upgradable? With the coming of graphene based batteries, within the next few years, offering substantially reduced weight and volume as well as 5x the energy storage density compared to Li-Ion, what are the retrofit options for the battery banks? Moving from the 210kwH to 1000+ kwH of storage, would truly give the Silent-Yachts excellent range/longevity on station. Love the layout and design. Cheers!
Additionally Lithium batteries are high risk of fire so having an eject solution would be prudent
@SILENET-YACHTS : putting this here as it's about energy consumption. Though I think the info was in another video. Mentioned was that at 6kn it's 20KW and at 8kn it's 40KW and that it raises pretty steep until it flattens out thanks to approaching and reaching planing speed. Have you ever experimented, either theoretically in computer simulations, or practically, with foils. They do add some resistance at slower speed, but create lift and thus let ship lift up and reach planing at lower speeds. Depending on how low a speed planing could be reached it could be worthwhile. Say it uses 25% more at 4kn and less , a wash at 6kn, but then brings down the 8kn energy consumption and above by 25%...
I like the idea. But it also means more mechanicals that can break down and increase maintenance costs. There's also the extra weight which would lower efficiency, I assume. And probably would take up living space, too.
Your work is a master piece i hope i can own myself one of those very efficient eco friendly and dream come true much love from PH
This yacht is one of the few technologies i truly appreciate. Looking forward to affording one in 10 years

That is awesome! I would love to enjoy this kind of solar powered yacht!
Another great example of the future of yachting available today! Silent Yacht’s innovations will be looked back as a turning point on how the world travels over water.
This is a diesel electric hybrid boat. The technology has been around for over 100 years. Adding solar supplements it greatly but it isn’t revolutionary.
Thank you very much Rick!
A smaller more affordable model for canal use would be a wonderful inclusion into our waterway systems.
Some of those waterways are so clogged with diesel, petrol, kerosene use, they are close to lifeless.
Regeneration is nature’s gift,
let us not be the reason for its denial.
God bless
Agree, we believe solar electric power is they way to go fur such purposes as well!
Very good presentation.
Keep selling!
Thanks a lot!
Ein Traum und ich komme definitiv auf euch zurück !
What a beautiful, smart yacht!
Thank you!
Dear Mr. Michael, I really love watching solar yacht. I hoping to see it sail in Philippines. This is very expensive for me to buy the yacht. just seeing it sail is so great.
This will change the world!
just had a marina compliance inspection, would be an absolute breeze with this thing without the generator and any gas components. would also be even better with retractable propulsion.
Thanks!
Astonishing in every way truly. I was just asking myself, did someone make a solar yacht yet and her it is. I just want to understand you much drive time you really have before you go low on power.
Hi Craig! Thanks for the kind words! It all depends on the weather conditions and energy consumption. For a general rule of thumb, a cruising speed of 6 knots during sunny weather conditions keeps you in an energy equilibrium, resulting in virtually unlimited range.
Love it ! All boats should be more ecological! My next boat 👍
Hope to have an update on the VW Group collaboration. On the East and "South" Coast of the US, we have the Intra-Coastal Waterway, an almost continuous inland-ish waterway from Boston to Houston. A smaller boat, like 50 footer, would be more manageable than a 80 footer, especially with all the bridges that you have to go under. But still maintain its ocean going capabilities, of course. lol
Hi! New updates will follow soon, stay tuned!
They were the first, did you buy him out?
nice approach ... more regarding my rest and restaurant time ))
Either in this video or another one, you mentioned the battery packs can be fully charged by the generator in 2 hours. Some follow up questions:
1) How far could we go at 6 knots on battery power alone before needing a recharge?
2) How many liters of diesel does 2 hours of generator time drink?
It's a great step forward for human kind to have solar driven yachts!
I think catamerans are on the next step of evolution with independent food production,
like Hydroponic or small Aquaponic food growing systems with round ecodomes on top
with solar cells on top and sides to
have tomatoes, potatoes, salads and whirlpool size Aquaponic tank !
Atmospheric water generators are maybe less energy consuming.
I also think that ships are an exellent solution
to survive on the Seas of a post Nuclear War on land and some water areas,
because the vastness of the Oceans would diffuse it faster then on mainland.
Ships would need
EMP safe electrical system and some rooms emp isolated.
Air & water filtration from radioactive isotopes
Geigermeters
Independent energy, water and food peoduction and space for bigger stock!
I truly think that this will be the future of yachting, especially for liveaboards. Imagine removing the ICE generator and fuel tanks to allow more space for battery storage. Combining the kite sailing ability should allow for a) more efficient travel, b) allow regenerative charging and c) offer storm kites. Another idea is to perhaps allow reverse flow charging from electric toys to battery banks (VTG), even if this allowed 5 days of essential equipment usage in the middle of the ocean, it's bought time till the sun comes out. Very curious how this yacht would handle during a storm and no electricity due to a few days of stormy clouds.
Hi there! A detailed video with the kite will follow soon. If you are facing stormy and unfavorable weather conditions for longer periods of time, there is a back-up generator on board which recharges the batteries whenever needed. You can read all about our technology here: www.silent-yachts.com/technology/
I absolutely love these boats.
Thanks Simon we really appreciate it!
It's love at first sight, i LOVE the yacht! However, I believe adding wind power with vertical helix turbine would increase it energy source continuously day and night, rain or shine, increasing efficiency and extending its range. It would be great to learn about how you manage the disposal of waste and the grey/black water, are they stored on board and discharged at ports? Thanks.
Hi Martin! Thanks for your kind comment! The issue with wind turbines is that they create shade on the panels and therefore overall decrease the energy production of the yacht. Yes, the grey/black water can be stores on board and discharged at ports.
Hi, wonderful vessel and clear explanation. Is there any equation r graf to calculate a 24/7 navigation without using generation? Thx!
Hi! Thanks for the kind words! It all depends on the weather conditions and the energy consumption. As a general rule of thumb, when cruising at 6 knots during sunny conditions, there is an equal amount of consumption to production. For the SILENT 55 & 60 this means less than 20 kW.
I'm in love with Silent Yachts, When the Silent 80 will be available for a presentation?
During summer this year!
Love your yatchs and more important the concept…have you considered a smaller craft designed for inland waterways and lakes, maybe something in the 30 ‘ range ?
The only answered question (unless I missed it!) is, in the scenario when using the diesel generator as well, how much fuel did the diesel generator use? Thanks.
This was great. I have a few questions:
1) wouldn't buckets be more efficient than screws?
2) Why aren't there any use of vertical wind generators?
3) What is the future? Are you looking at new/different battery technology? Upcoming solar technology?
wind generators would add drag to the vehicle - that's why I don't stick a wind generator on my car either
Hi! Thanks for your questions! Vertical wind generators throw shade on the panels, therefore actually decreasing the overall energy production of the yacht. In addition, they are quite noisy, and depending on the position, can be a safety hazard as well. Regarding the future, all the key components of our yachts such as the solar panels and batteries can be easily exchanged. Therefore, a SILENT can be upgraded over time and benefit from the latest technology.

Its amazing.. But sorry to ask, can it combine with the wind turbine in the yacht ? Cause I saw a small and powerfull turbine that can be install near the sattelite antenna.. Cause i am using it to power up my building.. So i think i will be more helpfull if going to sail at night
Hi! The issue with wind turbines is that they throw shade on the panels and therefore actually decrease overall energy generation. Furthermore, they are quite noisy. Depending on the placement, they can be a safety hazard as well.
Hello, i have some question......as you set speed to 12 knots and start the generator......What comsumption has the generator (l/hour)....i guess it runs constantly on 3/4 of a load?
I presummed, you started a 150 kW generator? Best regards and all the best in 2021!
All good/Just SIC 1/ First due to the climate ( wind speed etc) changes- to be fixed by the strongest way 2/ Since all is fixed on the very top - /all people are resting on the top deck ( some additional rails to be fixed there for emergency work etc) as well/ stability and safety to be checked precisely 3/ easy changing and reinstallation ( cables to be separated from the main pack etc)
Кто бы подарил такое чудо - я бы остаток жизни посвятил морю и жил бы там всегда. Удачи
*"a clean conscience"* I laughed at that one :)
Is the Airco of the type that can work directly from solar, so DC power? Could save a lot of energy.
Would be great when (some rows of) the front panel could slide forward and down, revealing some more panels to create a larger charging surface when at anker, with the ship turned into the sun. It would also make the ship more aero dynamic when sailing into the wind.
Off course there is a problem with visibility at that moment, but one can steer the ship from the flybridge or when out at sea on camera images when inside.
The interior of this boat is very nice, also because of less levels in the floor and windows.
We shall see. How often do the batteries need replacing? Solar panels damaged by storms/hail?
Hi James! Thanks for your question. There are 8 years of warranty on the battery banks. Within those 8 years at least, there will be no reason for exchanging the battery banks. In case you would like to take advantage of the latest battery technology being released in the future however, you have the possibility to replace them the of course. From a technical / reliability point of view however, the batteries will last you for many years to come. In terms of storm there is no reason to be worried for the solar panels. We have experienced light to medium levels of hail with no damage on the panels. Rest assured though that we provide 25 years of warranty on the panels.
So I have a Quantum Q6 HD Edge wheel chair its about 350lbs just for the chair and about 13k for replacement was curious what kind of handicap accessibilities are in this boat and if there isn't any could it be modified enough to handle handicap accessibility issues.
How about adding a small wind mill to assist generate power on both side of the yatch
What a concept, I wonder if they will be made, or sold from the U.S.A. ?
I would really want to be some part of this corp. I've seen no better opportunity.
Plus they look real nice...
Thank you very much for the kind words! It is not just a concept, more than a dozen of our yachts are already cruising the waters :)
Hi there. Amazing boat. I'd suggest to move away from the Li-ion batteries, that have a significant replacement cost after 7-8 years. It would be amazing to see this boat powered with LTO batteries, that can cope with 20k/30k cycles and far more years of lifespan.
Greeting.
Can you give a scenario of the efficiency of crossing the Pacific?
Two questions:
1.) Does it come with a 2,400 watt wall charger (brick included) &
2.) Does it go into energy saver mode at 20% like the iPhone?
ports have electric cord usually but i dont think youd need it.
the very efficient diesel generator turns on at 30%
You should look into using MLV (Mass Loaded Vinyl) to insulate the motor and generator bay. This will absorb the low frequency rumbles substantially. I'm an audio engineer... haha
It's kind of frustrating: smart design of powermanagement BUT not any innovation on the interior layout at a Silent yacht. Please have a look for Sunreef or Horizon PC or - for the 50 or 60 ft - Aquilla. I won't spent money in the ideas of the decade of y2000.
To me, looks like a simple, efficient design. What would you want to see changed?

Hi Rob, thanks for your kind words - we are working on a H2 solution - but at the moment the pretty bad overall efficiency of about 40-50% of the H2 energy chain (electric power - electrolysis - H2 - compressor - H2-tank - fuel-cell - electric power) keeps us from going this way at the moment ....batteries are still the best solution - and I´m pretty sure that this won´t change

What is the annual cost of maintenance? And can I custom order this? Such as the hull material and the like?
Hi! There is no maintenance required on the batteries or the solar panels. The electric motors only need a new set of bearings after 50.000 hours of usage. As result, virtually no maintenance means virtually no maintenance cost. In terms of customizing the interior, that is of course possible. The hull however is always made from carbon fibre in order to maintain the lightweight construction. Michael, thanks for your video. Could you please tell us what is the average consumption kw/h at 6-7knots? Keep uploading videos. Thank you guys!
at 6-7 knots we are below 20 kW with the Silent 55 and Silent 60
Is there a better spreadsheet of this? What are the solar panels bringing in on perfect conditions to what is being consumed to what is being banked? this video is dreaming numbers up and consumption and generation have zero bearings! what is the bank capacity, what is the max kWp from solar panels, and what is the kWh consumption? for example, you have AC running well that would be huge kWh, and in no way would your solar be bringing in a positive charge to the bank and run ac on the whole boat. hope to hear back.
Hi Justin! The peak power production depends on the models. The SILENT 80 displayed in the video produces 26 kWp, enough to power the AC on board and the propulsion system. on the fourth page down...
Why does it show "Fuel 1000 - 1900 L" on the 60?
and "Fuel 3000 to 5000 L" On the 80?
Are these not Solar Electric?
Where does one put liquid fuel?
The 120 model does indicate a kWh rating for the fuel source
Hi Wes! Our yachts are solar electric. They are also fitted with a back-up generator, which can recharge the batteries whenever needed. This is only a back-up measure however, as the yachts fully function without it.
What happens when nobody is onboard and the yacht is in the harbour? Do the solar panels give the electricity ashore or what happens to the unused electricity?
Hopefully you're taking some cues from tesla.
Is this a blue water boat? What is the distance on full sun and total distance with fuel?
Yes, all our catamarans are CE-A certified. Regarding the distance, it depends on the cruising speeds. General rule of thumb, when cruising at around 6 knots during sunny conditions, you are in an energy equilibrium, meaning basically virtually unlimited range with the batteries capable of getting you through the night. Our SILENT 64 crossed the Atlantic Ocean during quite unfavorable weather conditions in 2018 and needed 1300 liters of fuel for a total distance of 5.500 nautical miles. You can check out the video here: ruclips.net/video/EJUnZlYDOTE/видео.html
let's hope for nice weather
Do you offer an wind generator as an option?
It’s 11am in the morning - because in some parts of the world 11am is in the evening.
The energy generation rate and stats are very very amazingly fast...which I'm really questioning it.
A quick Google search suggests typical solar panel efficiency is about 150W/m2. To achieve the shown surplus of +10kW, you will need at least 66m2 of solar panel surface. Eyeballing the dimensions of the solar panels shown on the boat seems to fit at least that much.
Also from the shown power usage, it seems the propulsion engines are quite diminutive at 12kW each. But they will probably do the job perfectly well for quiet, silent cruising in relatively unchallenging waters.
Electric is our future in boats in the world.
We agree!
If you could equip the yaht with hydrogen electrolisys system and a fuel cell instead of a diesel generator and the diesel fuel tanks, then you could save much space and weight and get the maximum from the sun, as during cruising you could use kyte and generate hydrogen at once, then during the night you could go faster using reserves of hydrogen or as alternative fuel source.
PV can be twice efficient using other spectrums of the light and if watercooling the pannels, their efficiency won't be affected so much by the temperture, that also would reduce heating of the inner living spaces and save electricity for airconditioning, while collected heat could be used for hot water for showers and kitchen and washing machine, which could get a hot water instead of boiling it by electricity, same is for dishwasher. Condensed water coming from the air conditioning could be used for washing machine and dishwasher or for flashing toilets. Kyte can have wind turbine installed within and transfer electricity generated by the wind, which can be combined all together with its pulling power received from the wind. What I really can't get is why use toilet paper at all on a yaht for 5M€, when there is a bidet seat available for more than a few decades, preheated water and a fan instead of the paper?
