Nice job with the explanation...I will try this today on a new session tracked yesterday. I do put 16 mic of Unison SSL on that Console to print but I think I'll try this additional EQ on the DAW. Thanks for the tips. Cheers
@@UniversalAudio Thanks, I made a few with my drums already. My biggest problem is Aux's with a insert while tracking. I use a virtual 1-2 in my DAW for headphone, click and a imported scratch track, but the audio track from the AUX is picking up those click and scratch track. I tried every possible ways for it to not get included with the drum track. I watched that recent tutorial from another company showing the way to get a room sound from drums, but again...I get that bleed included.
@@Pearlpassionstudio Hi Jack, for a detailed workflow issue like that, I'd recommend you speak with Customer Service, or make a post on our forums (www.uadforums.com) where users can help.
Good stuff Ben. I just started using this today. I was wondering why you selected line instead of mic. Is this because the mic option is more for using the unison preamp while tracking through console?
I love most styles of music but why do these guys only use "Rock"/ "PoP" for their demos?? Anyways he smiles at the end when he initiates the Helios. As a UAD user myself thumbs up!
Mostly because they are positioning this one to attract guys who like classic rock, which this gear was originally known for. They do choose other styles in other demos.
Thank you very much for a good presentation. One question: You said that you are not using any compression on drums. Is that often the case, or did you just want to demonstrate what Helios can do alone without any other processing?
Not only on drums but on vocal is just so beautiful. You can start your tracks with this till you get to the Bus channel before adding surgical Eq to tighten things up
No offense, but this is not a 5-min Tip video. This is a "mixing a drum kit with Helios" video. Usually 5-min tip videos would give some examples of the unique characteristics of the particular plugin, and some...you know... tips!
You just eq'd the kick and snare and still haven't told us what the "PK/TR" switch is. Am I an idiot for not being hip to the "PK/TR" switch? If there's an unusual setting, please just tell us what it is in the first sentence. I'm now 3 minutes into this thing and not a mention of the "PK/TR" switch. Am I going to watch the whole 7 minutes and you're not even going to mention it? What is it? Please just tell us. I know how an eq works (I think). I don't need to watch this 7 minute video. I was hoping you would just tell us what is this "PK/TR" switch. What is it? Does anybody know?
this guy seems such a nice dude, the type of guy you totally have fun in the recording sessions and then hang out for a beer
Great sounding hardware emulation...sure adds a nice warm vibe and weight to the drums !
Nice drum recording. I love big deep drums.
If Jimi and Eddie Kramer used it no question this Plugin is Kicking...Great Tutorial Mister Ben.
👍🏻
I love what you did here Ben
I like the plugin, but thought the drums sounded better without the processing

Hello Jack, you might to make Session presets that model the various consoles. You can make a 16 Neve, SSL, or Helios!!

@@UniversalAudio Thanks, I will do that on Monday.
6:19 = Bypassed
6:31 = Enabled

Correct. This is a mixing scenario so Line is the way to go.
Any EQ can add tons of mids - show us what pre-amp itself is doing!!!

you missed a lot of top end after using the Helios.. and that kick is super boxy.
soo boxy and it became really loud in the mix.

No, every situation is unique.
A ton of 70’s “color”. Grit for days.
Ben you are great!!!
Wow!!!
5:05
You meant, kick, snare, and “Hi-hat”.
Whew Laws.. I like that damn Helios Plug In.. That added so much ass to those drum tracks

WHERE IS DA LOW BUMP AT 60???

Can't really hear whats so unique about this one. Just saturate and use a standard eq..
What's that console under the monitor? Is it like a controller?
It's an Avid D Command control surface for Pro Tools.
@@UniversalAudio Thanks for that. Are you aware of anything similar to that console for Logic Pro??? Thanks
check the hand gestures geezer!

Wow...7 minute video and not a mention of the "PK/TR" switch. BOOOOOOO!!!!!! The thumbs down is from me.
OK...4 minutes into the Mixing with Mike video and he told us it's Peak and Trough (aka Boost and Cut). Why didn't you just tell us what it was?
any stock eq will do it.
Just EQ, and that’s about as far as it goes.
5:18 ... good luck finding a "stock eq" that can do this. The preamp section of the Helios is where the magic is.
You clearly say that because u haven't test it... its evident, just try it on demo then came here and post what you think
