Holy cow, Tom please apply for setting routes. It would be such a blast seeing comps with such insane moves and commentators being confused as hell talking about this.
Awesome video! I appreciate how there was no mercy for one another in the setting 😂. It was cool having Maddy on because I know she has a lot of experience with crack climbing/trad as well; it was nice that someone could quickly understand & set something outside of Tom's comfort zone. Also, loved how both of them tried so hard on each other's problems. Super fun. Thanks as always for the great vids!
Those problems were so interesting! Although, admittedly, I would have really loved to see each person complete the other's problem at the end, after points have been counted and winners declared, it's still really cool to see the different ways each climber manages to get through it. Or at least a couple extra goes, or just doing all the moves separately, like the one Peter did with Anna Hazelnutt! And it's also fun to see the way the intended difficulties play out (would more front lever training really have made a difference? Was the chimney actually a bit cramped for Tom? Don't leave us hanging!)
Agreed I remember seeing Pete doing static on one of the Magnus problem a while back. It was this kind of moment you go "Holy molly, he can do THAT ?" And it would not have happened if they did not let Pete try and retry over and over. But I guess +15 minutes videos are somewhat less popular maybe ?
Tom's boulder is the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen. Might just be my favorite boulder that I've seen hahaha. "The flying salmon", what a boulder
This was absolutely fantastic. The boulder problems on this channel have been insane recently. I thought that 360 crack boulder was insane...but now we have the flying salmon.
As for the question: how about one of the Bobat boys? It'd be interesting to contrast Tom and JP for example. What sick problems! Maddy's was super cool and Tom's was so unique looking.
Tom, you'd be a game changer for cave climbing if you apply that salmon style style 100ft below! Also, I think you should count jump attempts only half, would've been nice to see Maddy try the fish expedition once or twice more often
I think I'd have rather seen a time limit than an attempt limit. These routes were crazy cool (especially the flying salmon) but most of the attempts between the two of you were lost just to establishing at the start. You both intentionally set parts of the route that were tailored to yourself, and seeing you each have a chance to figure out your own way past would've been fun
tom just slowly starting to undo his trousers without any explanation upfront really made me a bit uncomfortable lmao. ps. maddy is so strong!! holy moly, climb better motivation for sure 🥰
No they weren't they were really basically the anti style of each other. Great to watch them, behind the scenes they REALLY wanted to climb the other problem!
Tom, you are a genius. That looks like the most hideously devious problem ever. So imaginative. 🙌......if only you could make that crucial hold a big spinning thing 🤔🤣
I never imagined I'd see a climbing problem where having a curvier derriere would make it more difficult, but I think Tom's male flatness provides an advantage over Maddy being female and more curved. Having to slide back over the bottom hold on the back Tom slipped right over it, but it looked like she was getting hung up 🤣.
I really like this format, but I think it would be even cooler if there were extra points if the "opponent" completes your climb after you coach them to do it...

Wish we could see both of you do each other's problems despite the score and all though!
great format, excellent :) Maybe allow them unlimited tries for pride, not points or to tie break?
Holy cow, Tom please apply for setting routes. It would be such a blast seeing comps with such insane moves and commentators being confused as hell talking about this.
Both me (pete) and Tom used to be a route setters actually!
You'll be able to find more weird problems like this at Crack Fest. Dates coming soon
@@WideBoyz Love it! Considering flying across the pond for the next Crack Fest!
absolutely, please set a world cup route!
That might be the most ridiculous bouldering sequence I've seen in a while. What an absolute abomination of brilliance. Great stuff!
I just love that I said both "...jeeeesus" and "oh my god" almost exactly in time with Tom and Maddy when they were watching lol
I think that Tom should get extra points for the name of his climb. "The Flying Salmon" is an awesome name.
Flying Salmon as in jumping up a waterfall in order to escape a rabid bear?
Damn, I laughed hard when Tom succeeded on his problem "because I imagined your smuggy face" 😂
Man, this channel never disappoints!

I was mentally preparing myself of seeing Tom doing an "Australian Magnus". Nice pants! Even nicer Salmon! Awesome boulder problems!!
The "Australian Magnus" needs more upvotes!
In Australia, we call that move the eagle rock
@@nathanielbrough990 boy was i embarrassed the first time i turned up to bottomless brunch

I would have loved to have seen a top out for Toms boulder not just matching that yellow hold.
Tom’s Boulder is amazing and disgusting. Love it
Best one yet. Also looked like the hardest, you definitely knew each others weaknesses.
I wish there were more attempts, both boulders were so creative, I could have kept watching this for much longer! :)
Imagine coming across Tom's boulder, hundreds of meters up on a multi pitch...
That'd be brilliant
This is why aid still exists.
This was easily the MOST creative route setting I've ever seen, and it's not close.
This was absolutely fantastic. The boulder problems on this channel have been insane recently. I thought that 360 crack boulder was insane...but now we have the flying salmon.
Tom's problem is certainly creative.
This channel offers the best climbing content on YT at the moment! With this type of creativity Tom should set in the next Olympics.
Tom just wanted an excuse to lay down on the job ;)
Great video, I wish climbing gyms would set routes involving moves like the flying salmon. Looked like so much fun.
Make sure to come to our next crack fest competition. We set lots of bizzare problems like this
The best video lately guys... and those boulders were really pieces of art ;)
Tom's creativity is through the roof, well, almost through the ground actually haha
The Sunday morning content we need. Brought me quite a few smiles :)
That was awesome. So fun to watch. Thank you
Absolutely love these videos - keep it up guys! :)
I'm waiting for you to get Ondra in the cellar... But Ondra in a challenge like this would also be fun.
Amazing performance from Tom. I didn't think it was possible!
wow what a hilarous and awesome video! Loved it so much! :)
Very fun vid. More like this please!
As for the question: how about one of the Bobat boys? It'd be interesting to contrast Tom and JP for example.
What sick problems! Maddy's was super cool and Tom's was so unique looking.
I think I now watched this 5 times... briliant!!
Best channel on RUclips. Period.
Haha cheers 👍
6:05 I thought Tom was about to get a complaint from HR.
I don't want to be a downer, but the countdown timer seems to belong to the WIDBOYZ, not the WIDEBOYZ.
Wid boys
😂😂 classic!
we're getting slimmer, Needed too shorten the name
It's obviously been provided by a similarly named but completely unconnected organisation😂
Love these challenges!
Great series!!
Big fun to watch!
that was an absolute blast to watch! love these challange videos
Super glad you like the challenges! They're the best!
Tom, you'd be a game changer for cave climbing if you apply that salmon style style 100ft below! Also, I think you should count jump attempts only half, would've been nice to see Maddy try the fish expedition once or twice more often
These two set up in 30min more creative routes than I've seen in my local gym in 2 years.
Wickedly creative! 😈
After Reel Rock 15, pretty rad to see Maddy's enthusiasm again on screen 🤙
Yes, love the addition of Maddy!!!! So I would suggest Ollie and then your Lattice flexibility coach and maybe Hazel?
They were both so sadistic. Really great to watch. I feel like six or seven goes and they would have had each others problems.
Tom's problem was one of the most creative problems I've seen... holy cow. Both were well thought out though, what a competition!!!
Insane routes, loved every moment of it
You guys are hillarious, thanks for the laughs
OMG. I was sweating watching Tom. Good effort!
Honestly,
Toms problem was mind boggling and amazing!!!
Both did great work tho!! Love it!
Would love to see each person complete them. Crazy hard for local gym climbers.😇
Tom’s boulder is incredibly interesting!! Really different kind of movements
Good natured competition where each person wants to see the other succeed. Top stuff!
Next level, the future of competition climbing
The "Flying Salmon" sounds right up my alley.
The Wide Boyz still pushing boundaries. I can't wait to see the flying salmon at the next Olympics!!!!
This is insane! I never thought this could work.
how can you not love Tom ;) such a funny guy
More Tom!
next level boulders from the both of them!
I think I'd have rather seen a time limit than an attempt limit. Both of those problems just look wildly fun.
Lets go WID GUYS HELL YEAAAH !! WOOOO!!!
Great challenge 👏 😁
Dang. The flying salmon is quite impressive. I say a rematch is required.
Impressive toe hook core strength! “I kept on imagining your smug face hustling me” 😂
Brilliant problems and both looked super hard
Tom’s boulder was awesome! Props to Maddie for stumping him!
That was a cool and creative video :D
Brilliant problem Tom!
Balls of steel intro hasn't gone unnoticed
Those were both sick problems!
Tom kicking the wall to get the start foothold is really funny
Nice. You really pulled out the hatchets. Pure Evil! 😅
Nice boulders!
5:55 OMG She's fantastic, Tom good luck your going to need it !
Honourable fail to that person.
Go Maddy, go! 👍💪
Hahahaha Just imagine IFSC commentators saying "it's the flying salmon move!"
Ollie vs Pete would be fun!
I'm sure it can be organised 😎
Bloody hell Tom.
Both routes are awesome, but how does your mind work?
tom just slowly starting to undo his trousers without any explanation upfront really made me a bit uncomfortable lmao.
ps. maddy is so strong!! holy moly, climb better motivation for sure 🥰
So, are these the next Olympics final routes?
Were Maddie and Tom able to finish each others boulders eventually? Also what grade would you give these problems?
No they weren't they were really basically the anti style of each other. Great to watch them, behind the scenes they REALLY wanted to climb the other problem!
Future of comp climbing. hopefully
Tom's problem though! Brilliant!
Thank you.
12:35 most ridiculous climb of all time well done
Ondra, Magnus, Mari, Dave McLeod, Robbie Philips
3:06 lmao
that was sick
Tom, you are a genius. That looks like the most hideously devious problem ever. So imaginative. 🙌......if only you could make that crucial hold a big spinning thing 🤔🤣
How the hell do you come up with these things Tom?! Both made amazing boulders if they made them in one go without tweaking!
Random and fantastic ideas like that is a gift Tom has 😂
Wow! Amazing problems. It would have been reaaly nice to see how you did on those eventyally since I bet you didn’t stop there 😀
The "Flying Salmon" coming to the Olympics in 2024!
what in the flying salmons are those routes
I never imagined I'd see a climbing problem where having a curvier derriere would make it more difficult, but I think Tom's male flatness provides an advantage over Maddy being female and more curved. Having to slide back over the bottom hold on the back Tom slipped right over it, but it looked like she was getting hung up 🤣.
Flying salmon is the future of IFSC! 😂
The flying Salmon? I got this :)
Did Tom set a crack with a lay back move? Nice pant!
Groin stretcher pinky jam vs you must be this tall to ride.
I reckon this calls for a rematch
I really like this format, but I think it would be even cooler if there were extra points if the "opponent" completes your climb after you coach them to do it...
