Ah the memories this brings back are unreal in 1987 I was 23 living the best years of my life and didn't even realise it. Not a mobile phone or a snapchat filter to be seen great music in the charts great films being made and real cars still on the road. Quite sad how a 5 minute clip can remind you how great life used to be how fast it flies by and how bad things are now. :(
I was only 7 when this came out but I still remember how much better the 80s were than now. Things were grittier yet more vibrant and alive and people were happier despite hardships.
Possibly the case (I was 16, and have slightly less positive memories), but it's hardly the message of R, S & B Too, in which impoverished teenage babysitters carry on with a grotesque philanderer who impregnates one of them, all for the want of any better options.
You're utterly joking? You've just seen this video and you're claiming the 80s were better???? They were absolutely horrific. This is basically a story about a predatory paedophile (bob) preying on vulnerable underage school girls (Rita and sue) . You must have one hell of a bad life if you think the 80s were better.
Mate you're joking aren't you? If you were 7 when this came out then you can't have any proper memories of the 80s at all. The 80s were utterly grim - as is totally clear from this film. if you think they were better then what you're actually remembering is being a naive child. This film is basically about a predatory nonce (Bob) preying on underage school girls, something which was rampant back then.
What a long strange trip it must have been for Siobhan Finneran and George Costigan from this production to Happy Valley. They're great in both ! Because of this production, Speaking of great, I keep hoping that Costigan is going to blurt out: "I thought I were great !" in Happy Valley.
The writer...Andrea Dunbar's tragic early death was a proper waste. Who knows what else she'd have come up with. Completely untrained and naturally gifted, she grew up on an estate like this and just...wrote...brilliantly.
Andrea Dunbar was friends with my mum at school. I went to the school featured here and I lived in the block of flats Sue’s family live in. Later in the film they’re walking up Bedale Drive past my nan’s bungalow. I love this film because it encapsulates the gritty realism at that time
The blonde one Michelle Holmes stormed into the coronation Street offices. And demanded a role, thinking she was quite cheeky for doing it they gave it to her as Tina the barmaid. The fact that the show at the time was on 3 times a week She almost appeared more times than some characters in the 60s when it was on once a week. She played Nicholas Lyndhurst wife in goodnight sweetheart. The other actress Shobbina finnerhan stars in benidorm although the characters have won the Lotto and left. She also appeared in coronation Street as a factory worker but left after a couple of weeks she was in brookside too. And that new TV show The syndicate.

YEP...i was wondering that too....could RITA, SUE & BOB have SURVIVED the 90's and thru the Millenium...??Would love to see Siiobhan, Michelle and George tackle the same roles again but 30 odd years later!! 👍👍🤌😍😍😍🤩🤩🤩
At the time of filming those flats were just about to be demolished so in reality the original tennants had already been rehoused and they were just standing empty hence why all the bottom flats along that street are boarded up
Ah classic film from back in our day, not a false eyelash, trout pout or mobile phone in sight just brings back memories of the 80s just brilliant
Samantha N spot on great film and the late Willie Ross played the perfect drunk
the 80's were gritty, football hooliganism, the troubles in Ulster, Miner's Strike, Aids...not for the faint hearted😐
Fucking here here I was kid growing up in a Leeds council estate 🏡 it was awesome back then
I was away from much of it at the time though in the 70s there were Irish bomb threats in school in England.
No, just poverty, racism and child abuse.

Yes, makes me sad and nostalgic thinking about it, wish I could turn the clock back.
One of the best British films ever..love it.
The Only Way Is Bradford 😂😂😂
Seriously though, we'll sadly never get those times back. Life was so much better then.
I was only 7 when this came out but I still remember how much better the 80s were than now. Things were grittier yet more vibrant and alive and people were happier despite hardships.
Life was lived out on the streets back in the 80s 90s Not online like today
Which is so bland😴

SIyDoll she grew up and lived on this estate, the one in the film. Buttershaw.
She actually died of a brain aneurysm in 1990 in that very pub from the opening scene.. ‘the beacon’ on reevy road in Bradford :(

I'd no this was on if my late dad was staying up for a night of channel 4 😅
This film must be a nightmare for modern day feminists 😂😂
I’m 48 and as I remember it the 1980’s was an utter shithole of a decade. As explicitly depicted in this brilliant film.
We laugh at it, but many still refuse to see the grooming that went on.
"Not Mecca, I want to take you to the Mecca"
“I can’t help being a Paki”
Still going on toady, sadly. At least it was done in a comical way.
lesley sharp also starred in the film the full monty, as fat dave's wife Jean x .
The next scene from the film has Oor Reet (Rita) commenting on Bob's FROZEN SAUSAGE!
