So glad to see you’ve included MAGIC with Anthony Hopkins…so few people like this movie when it came out, and my teenage self was riveted by the atmosphere, the creepy puppet, and Sir Anthony’s performance.
Bit late to this particular party by seeing as The Wicker Man is my all time favourite film and Don’t Look Now is high on the list as well I couldn’t help chuckling. I appreciate all opinions however and have faced legions of similarly minded individuals throughout the years. As for why I love them? Well, I remember watching both when I was very young and though the intricacies of narrative flew over my angelic head both films cast an alluring spell on me that left an indelible mark on my subsequent years and burrowed deep inside my brain to craft two British masterpieces that still affect me to this day … something that instantly makes them true horror classics as well as masterpieces of cinema. Plus the fact The Wicker Man was first partnered with Don’t Look Now as a double feature due to Hardy’s film being deemed too weird to stand alone? Well, I know where my first time travel trip would be … Anyhow, interesting list. Plenty of gems, some questionable, several omissions, but hey, we’re all different and I’ve rambled on enough already! Now, time for a double bill. What CAN I possibly choose?
@@SAMTYLER1974 great feedback yes we all different mate 👍🏻 I don't hate wicker man don't look now but they just don't do much for me , thanks for watching mate ,
I'll list rankings of my favourites before seeing yours. 15 The Last House On The Left (1972) 14 Tales From The Crypt (1972) 13 The Horror Of Frankenstein (1970) 12 Carrie (1976) 11 The Excorcist (1973) 10 Shivers (1975) 9 The Satanic Rites Of Dracula (1973) 8 The Town That Dreaded Sundown (1976) 7 Scars Of Dracula (1970) 6 Dawn Of The Dead (1978) 5 Jaws (1975) 4 Dracula: AD 1972 (1972) 3 The Omen (1976) 2 Damien: Omen 2 (1978) 1 Halloween ( 1978)
If u like those u would probably lijke "The Thing From Another World" 1951 It's always been my all time favorite , must have seen it 50x then there's John Carpenter's remake "The Thing" 1982
Fantastic list Stuart and i own most of these films, I have the Wicker man but like you i find it just ok, Don't like Don't look now so have never bothered with that one. A couple of others i like are The Car 1977, Deathline 72, Phantasm 79, Thanks mate.
I so love Death Line too and also films like Beast in the Cellar (1971) or Psychomania (1972), there's just something about this very early '70s UK horror era that is mainly set in then modern times, which sadly means I'm not that keen on '70s period Hammer like Hands of the Ripper or Vampire Circus I do rate those at the Hammer bottom.
Great list, I've actually seen all but maybe five of these. One that I'd like to see in there that I never hear anybody talk about is The Changeling with George C. Scott. Oh yeah, and Burnt Offerings. Edit: I had to go check and it turns out that the changeling came out in 1980. Good movie, though.

"The Wicker Man" happens to be the only musical dark comedy horror hybrid I know of that also functions as masterful commentary on the concept of religion and a deep dive into Christianity. There's truly nothing else like it.
@@TheGosportProfessionals The entire conversation between Summerisle and the cop, the uptight and rigid Christianity of the cop, the praying at the end from the cop, the explanation for how people turned from Christianity to enjoy their old pagan gods, etc.

@@stuartgeorge2324 I thought I’d mention it because there are lots of early black & white and silent movies that most people don’t know about and would dismiss out of hand. Most have heard of Murneau’s original Nosferatu but how many have seen it? Murneau and Fritz Lang are two filmmakers who deserve to be looked at. Two of the greatest ever directors.
Can’t argue with any of these, mate. Dr Jekyll and Sister Hyde is an underrated one from Hammer. Magic is awesome. The Exorcist = greatest horror movie ever. I remember seeing Asylum as a kid late at night and it’s been one of my favourites ever since. I have to agree with you on Don’t Look Now - never understood that movie at all. I would recommend The Incredible Melting Man which is a guilty pleasure of mine.
great list mate own all but two of them myself how about these. Blood on Satan's claw 71, Horror express 72, Legend of hell house 73 Black Christmas 74, Zombie flesh eaters 79 and Nosferatu 79
The thing about Don't Look Now - the beginning and ending are incredible. Julie Christie, Donald Sutherland, the music, the editing (the sex scene, of course!) - all great. But all that guff in the middle with him seeing his wife in Venice when she's supposed to be back home... Roeg always comes unstuck with plot. Still love it, though!
