All your videos are super helpful, I’ve never heard of interceptors and this is exactly what I was looking for. I had a hard time finding info like this by just googling. Grateful for RUclips and people like you! I am working with a pest control company already but I have been doing my own work because I want the issue eliminated or at least controlled to the best of MY abilities. Thanksn
We now have German Cockroaches in the building. I don't think cockroaches can climb plastic coated with baby powder, but roaches are larger than bed bugs so the trap walls would need to be taller. I need to learn all about cockroaches now. Hopefully my bed bug experience will help me deal with cockroaches too. I know early detection and treatment is most important with bed bugs and roaches.
The traps will also work for cockroaches, but cockroaches are bigger then bed bugs so the trap wall need to be at least 3 inches high and the mote well 2 inches across. Cockroaches are larger then bed bugs and may climb right over standard insect interceptors.
Baby powder is made from either Talc or corn starch. I am not sure if Germen cockroaches can feed on cornstarch? I know they can't eat Talc so that's what I use to lubricate all my traps.
Cockroaches also can't climb smooth plastic coated with baby powder. Cockroaches are larger than bed bugs so the walls of the trap should be 2" tall or more. This will keep bed bugs and Cockroaches off your bed. For cockroaches you can use extra double walled traps, just put bait in the center of the trap, they will climb the first wall to get to the bait and get trapped in the outer mote.
Mattress encasements $30 ea. But well worth it! Use steamer or steam iron to help monitor household items. Hair dryer on "hot" helps also. Diatomaceous earth in area where they might hide. Good clothes in plastic containers. Dryer on hot setting for clothes that have been out! Launder on hot setting. Dryer on hot for fabric "insurance". Spray scents they do not like in hiding places( they do not like eucalyptus) You must be relentless because as long as they are in an apt.building, they will find their way to you. I took a month for me to get totally rid of them using all of the above, but I haven't let my guard down for even one minute because most people will move out of an apt and take the bugs with them and do not realize what they are doing. It does no good to blame it on the management because they will not treat a bldg with multiple apts and it wouldn't do any good anyway! Until we get a handle on this it will continue to be a scourge on humanity!
Vaseline will dry out and bugs may then be able to climb up. Bed bugs and other bugs absolutely can not climb smooth plastic containers coated with baby powder.
Why not just put your bed legs in some tupperware and fill it about halfway with some cooking oil or rubbing alcohol. They might be able to climb up, but they'll drown trying to reach the leg in the middle of the conainer.

Make sure to clean out the traps and re apply the baby powder regular. Dust, lint and hair will accumulate and give the bugs a way to climb out.

Vigilance is key!
Can we use something else like flour maybe instead of babypowder??
No, baby powder is cheap and it does work well for the purpose. They for sure can climb untreated plastic and glass.
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼❤️ THANK YOU!❤️
Why not just put a ring of vaseline on the bed leg near the floor?

Let me know if this works!
