    • @weebjeez
      @weebjeez 5 лет назад +47

      @@Attmay I always thought it was rather clever, in a deconstructed kind of way... I couldn't tell you the name of most episodes of shows I like because the name and the plot didn't really strongly connect (for example "Not Another Monday" being the Golden Girls episode about elderly suicide which I remember only because I just watched it the other day)
      But with Friends? The name was VERY specific. The Phoebe wedding episode? The One With Phoebe's Wedding. The one with Ross being whiny about getting a male nanny for his kid? The One With The Male Nanny. The names were designed in a way that they would basically let you know what the main storyline was (because many episodes would have an A B and even C and D plot) without giving enough away that people who hadn't seen it yet would be ruined by hearing the name, alone.
      Was it lazy? In a sense. But it was brilliant, because it allowed people to look at the episode title and, more or less, remember what the plot of the episode revolved around.

    Yeah, later seasons of Murder She Wrote are notorious for having the murders in the middle of the episode, thus building up a lot and leaving less time for actual murderer finding, all each resulting in messy and rushed writing for the second half. Maybe if they extended these episodes longer, to say, feature length, like Columbo, it would've worked better? But I can't help but feel more charm out of these later eps because of all the 90s looks and tech 😅

    You should advertise these in the community tab if you're going to do a "premiere" episode(s). It would have been nice to have seen a Coming Soon! Just something I've seen other creators doing lately. Congrats on over 200k as well.

      I quite enjoy them, and the chat seemed to love interacting as well! You don't have to join in, the video releases right after it premieres (so the length of my video, which is about 10 minutes.) I'm sure you have that kind of patience in ya. ;)

    The actor who played Gene in this episode had a recurring role as a psychologist on Major Crimes so he never managed to escape the murders.

      @jessicalillianweinberg4401 2 года назад +1

      Speaking of Gene - they establish early on that he is one of the people on this set whom Jessica knows - he was her student. And he tries a trick with a switched script. It never ceases to amaze me how people with long histories as Jessica's friend or student think they can put something over on her.

    I love the way you walk through all the tongue and cheek references to Friends. Would love it if you could do a vid on Season 5, Episode 6 "Wearing of the Green" when Jessica Fletcher meets and outsmarts NYC Detectives Chadwick and Stacey (Obviously cutie-pie, precious Murder She Wrote versions of Cagney and Lacey--Lucy Arnaz is totz over the top and adorbz with exaggerated quips like "The Tara Tiara; what kind of name is that?" & "Nobody gets in to see that lady; she's a hoymit!") this brings together two of those shows we probably used to watch with our parents and grandparents back in the day. The episode also has a pretty good storyline and some famous TV stars from the time.

    So funny! Interesting to hear about the time slot clashing with Friends. In the UK Murder She Wrote was broadcast on Sunday afternoons ON ITV. Or at least it was in the late 1980s. Hard to follow back then and the repeats are still hard to follow.
    The actor who played Timmy in this episode played one of the murderers in "Columbo Goes To College". All because of a few bad grades!
