    By far the best and easiest to understand with good detail . Now I know what to do . All others I've seen left me too many questions. Don't waste your time watching others. 01:55

    I've watched your videos over and over- Really great toght information! I'm trying this system with Kiowa blackberries in eastern Ohio- Not sure how much the dates will change from your video (as I am in zone 6) fingers crossed and paying attention- Thanks SO much! If my father was still around I could have asked him for help- but since I can't- your videos are teaching me- Thanks again! Perfect videos!

      Oh, and I'm also trying black raspberries, and thornless blackberries, alongside the Kiowa- using your system of Trellising. No point in having all my berries in one basket- (since there seems to be No information Anywhere, about growing Kiowa in zone 6 Ohio- even though they say even zone 5 isn't too cold- (Many online reviews say zone 5 is too cold) (Couldn't find any reviews about Ohio) Wish me luck! I'll be watching for any other videos (Maybe spraying for pests or disease- Or would heavier mulching help against Ohio winters, or will it just suffocate my roots? Bird and deer deterrents- Or any other blackberry topics would be greatly appreciated! I'm hoping to supplement our small family income if this works out- And it's fabulous- Like edible bonsai-
      Super cool technique!

    it looks like your plants are about 6ft apart. do you remove any sprouts that come up close to the grass? mine seem to tunnel under the ground and come up in random places.

    Great video. I wish I could trellis our blackberries but they are so wild in the orchard that I have just pruned them. They are erect thorny type. No idea the species given the birds are the provider to the orchard. My question is: Do the Floricanes flower all at once. These are once a year fruiting. Primocane then Floricane. A lot of the laterals do not have flowers and I was wondering what to do with them. Are they just robbing the nutrients from the flowered branches?
    I did the Primocane trimming to 4 feet and laterals to 12 inches this past winter. They are leafing like crazy now. The new Primocanes are being head topped now to stop the apical growth, but I just don't know what to do with the floricances. The flowers started here in central NY about 10 days ago.
    Why do you leave any leaves on the Floricane that are not being trained? Aren't the nutrients coming from the roots. Or do you need the old leaves for photosynthesis during fruit formation? Can not get any answers on what to do with Floricane. Primocane information is everywhere and I have a handle on that. Been 30 yrs since biology class.
    Thanks for any help.

    Please tell me what the purpose of the land is in between each row. It looks like 3to 4 ft of dead space grass stealing water and nutrients. Why are these mulched rows not right next to each other?

      Probably for tractor or some other vehicle that can transport a large tank sprayer for fungicide , fertilizer , insecticide or workers to load full crates of blackberries on to . All U- pick places also have this configuration to allow people room to pick bit mostly for tractors etc .

    Thank you so much for sharing your expert knowledge. We had no idea of trellising and pruning blackberries like this and we are very excited to plant our bushes this year and use your method. Also, can this same method be used for other berries such as boysenberries and raspberries? Thanks again..:)

    • @peccantis
      @peccantis Год назад +1

      Not them but the other Rubus berry plants have the same two-year rhythm, strong drive to form long canes, and a strong vigour trade-off. So yeah, unless the variety has specific guidelines to follow, this method ought to work for pretty much any Rubus.
