Probably the most under rated track ever. If you where there even if you are here now This is a moment in time . Music connects ....it's our wave length. Enjoy and live
oh damn, i miss the 90s so much. When music wasn't overhyperproduced and squashed to death, bassdrums actually hitted your chest, producers used analog sounding stuff to make pleasant music and none of this digital toyish plastic sounding harsh crap! And ah, yes yes, music had soul back then! today? where's the love? where's the feeling? thanks for this epic tune.
The vocals in this track are a throw back to early electronic music and when this track was produced they complimented it perfectly. It spoke to the time and to the audience it was made for.
I understand why people like the dream trance vocals in Gamemaster, but I think this version of the song is more powerful and the vocals hit a lot harder on the dance floor. Where Gamemaster floats, this track is driven by the fierce vocals and is a better peak-hour floor filler.
I just wish it had no vocals at all. It doesn't need it. Vocals really ruined trance. It was ok at first when we were all peaking on the floor, but it takes away something organic. I find it with most tracks these days that have vocals. Almost throw-aways. Detached vocals are still good in hard German trance, stuff like Taucher and Kai Tracid does, but the serious singing stuff that came in around 99-02 didn't age well at all. And even Gamemaster sounds outdated with them lyrics. Its a new age sermon. I dont really go around embracing the "goddess" of anything. Haha. Its from an ACTUAL sermon by Barbara Marciniak, a new age pastor/guru. From her very long sermon called - "Earth: Pleiadian Keys to the Living Library by Barbara Marciniak". I just wish it had no lyrics. The crass angry yelling in this version is just way too abrasive. Too normie too. It breaks you out of the dreamland. Would've been a timeless classic without it. Like Robert Miles Children. Just my opinion though. Gamemaster was my fav track when it first came out. I dropped it lots at raves and recovery parties. Ive just moved on from vocals these days. All the best trance has none. And if it does its only ever one word. Or a suggestion.
@@electrocademyofficial893 It was an amazing time in history. And Gamemaster did fit in very nice for the time. Its amazing how most of the trance and acid tech has aged like fine wine. Its a gift that keeps giving. I dont think any other style of music has this effect. Like the original mix of "Dreams" by Quench. It was made in 93 by Chris Dolan and i can still drop it today, in any style, tech, hard house, trance, makina - and its sounds as fresh as it did back then. It fits in any set. That is an amazing feat for a track made in 93. Thats where the iconic gamemaster breakdown came from. From Dreams by Quench. Also Pants and Corset/Ian M with "Dreamer". And also Miss Shiva "Dreams". @@electrocademyofficial893 Yeah... it all hit a wall 2004. It still hasn't recovered. They are all copying each other now. I had the Distant Voices EP which this and Gamesmaster were originally on - it was 'My Soul' which I'd first heard and recorded off Graham Gold or Judge Jules's show on Kiss FM in London before I ever heard Gamemaster - I preferred My Soul at first but hadn't heard it for years. They're both absolute classics as so many of Matt Darey's tunes are.
@@AGradeNonsense They are ok but the Gamemaster sample is iconic and extremely memorable. This is just two words, no variation, very little going on. I feel like the singing in this song just isn't needed. Of course I listened to Gamemaster a million times before ever hearing this version.
absolutely LOVE the vocals in Gamemaster, but this tune just takes you on a beautiful musical journey with very minimal, but powerful vocals that drive the feeling further and further. it’s a shame this version got thrown into an abyss and forgotten about by many compared to Gamemaster. even though they are practically the same song, other than the vocals, I feel like the vocals in this version sit so well with all the other elements of the song & just bring together the feeling that was intended. will always be my favorite version
Thank you RUclips, thank you!!! I've been searching for this track for 10 friggin years! (from 20 odd years ago) Kept typing in Gamekeeper, but wasn't sure... Then this just popped up, and bam, Gamemaster!!!! It was one of my most favourite tracks
everybody slagging this track off to gamemaster, yeah they are the same, but this is beautiful, vocals give it a soulful edge, piano a nice mellow effect, and gamemaster has that cheesy synth riff in it from a track already done, also, the doubters are probs big oakey fans aswell, remember li kwan / skin on skin etc etc, class tracks. hypocrites spring to mind.
you are really right. I love this track since the first time I had listen to it. And I will never be tired of it because it transport you to another dimensions.
terrapin it is for sure. Gamemaster is far less melodic and clubby(er). That’s probably why this one never went as big. Gueryella - Anahera (2016) is super similar to System F - The Sonnet (2003). Pretty cool if you’re a fan of where songs get their inspiration from
i didn't know this up till now, better than gamemaster! wish some tracks like ascension-someone have better, more epic versions like this... not wasted with lyrics!
female vocalists got me into trance in 98/99 but to be fair the vocals on this track do not do the melody justice. I prefer Gamemasters quote over these vocals.
First heard this on the the very 1st Euphoria album ( for the mind, body and soul ), has been a favourite of mine ever since, far better than Gamemaster
It's a shame that Lost Tribe recycled this with some waftey vocals as Gamemaster. But as an original track, My Soul is about as epic a piece of old skool trance as you can get. It soothes MY Soul and revitalises my spiritual energy.
My Soul was released before Gamemaster and IMHO is a better tune - it has more atmosphere (personal taste of course). Gamemaster's essentially a mix up of Angel, the 303 riff from Quench's Dreams, some extra (cheesy) vocals and a pumping bassline. Still a good tune though.
This track will always remind me of freedom at Bagleys, late 90s early 2000s. A era I will never forget. Baglesys RIP when raving was raving.
If someone read this, and lisen this top song....you are in the right way of life.....
Haha, thanks :D ur right

Better than gamesmaster in my opinion. Love the vocals. Takes me back to 1999 lying somewhere wasted. Good times 😊
Great trance from a bygone era
How did I forget about this one?!? The agony of forgetting only brings the pleasure of finding it again....🙌🏻
