Went and test drove a Calligraphy Hybrid AWD in the US this morning. It has 4 drive modes, Economy, Sport, Normal, and Snow. We were very impressed and will be buying one next week. Enjoyed your video, so you have a new subscriber.
I absolutely love my 2024Hyundai Santa Fe SEL all-wheel-drive hybrid! It has all the features that you need. Plus it has 18 inch wheels for a great ride +18 inch tires are much less expensive than the 20 or the 21s my life mileage for 2000 miles is 36.6 miles per gallon! Could not be happier with my choice. Zero issue zero problems.
does it have heads up display in the hybrid? also how long does the charge last for hybrid, do u have to plug it in to charge, how much kms do you get in hybrid? I'm in Canada wanna buy one
Thanks for being very informative. One question, at 2:41 you show a DRIVE / TERRAIN button. I've seen it in other matkets but not in the US. Here, I see a DRIVE MODE button which is to choose ECO, My drive, Sport drive modes. Do you have more information about it? Why they don't include the "TERRAIN" modes sand, and such in the US. Is there any difference at all? or is just a simple word.
Thanks for the comment and the kind feedback. Based on what you're saying here, it sounds to me like you might have been looking at a FWD model, in either gas only or hybrid. The drive mode selector, such as you see in the test unit I was driving is an optional feature that is only available with the HTRAC AWD active on-demand drive configuration. Terrain selection is indeed available in the US as it is here in Canada, but you have to select the right option and drive configuration to get it. I hope I've answered your question. Thanks again!
Thank you for the thorough review. I know the test was done on mostly flat terrain, but we live near the mountains. Do you feel this vehicle would have enough power to drive the mountains between the prairies and BC? We make this drive once or twice each year. Thanks
I've driven many of the roads you speak of in vehicles with similar or even less power. You shouldn't have any problems. Thanks for your kind feedback. :)
@@TheNovakReport wonderful. Thank you very much for your response. The issue is always passing on the uphill when you encounter semis or campers on those roads. Did you find the highway mileage was better in the hybrid than the gas version as well? Many of my kms are on the highway/freeway.
@@northernrcflyer yes, I appreciate that. But unless you're in a high powered sports car or luxury SUV, those passes will be a bit of a challenge for just about any standard vehicle in this class.
@@TheNovakReport fair. I had no problem in my current 2022 Rogue or the Subaru Outback we had. I imagine it would behave similar to a standard engine Outback. Thanks
I didn't realise that other markets didn't get Calligraphy Hybrid... in Australia we only get the hybrids so it meant Calligraphy 6 seater was a hybrid too! Given all the news about the DCT failures though, I think this is a dodged bullet for us.
Hyundai, like most automakers will have product planners in each country where they operate. They will have input on which trims or features are likely to be in demand and will make requests for market specific trim levels to sell. Canadians, for example love AWD on everything and other features like heated seats and steering wheels are very popular as winter in some parts of the country can be long and cold. But all that said, I think a Calligraphy trim in the hybrid would do well here if Hyundai can allocate some.
I tried to look back into my notes including a presentation they had at the media launch. I can't seem to confirm this from my notes. I apologize, but I looked and can't find the answer.
I own a Calligraohy Hybrid in Canada. NHL Edition, 500 made. I don’t have any particular like for hockey, too bad it wasn’t an NBA Edition. It comes with carbon fiber runners with a team logo on them and special mats. I’m not going to be installing those. Also a signed jersey. Again not of concern to me. But what I got it for was the pecan interior on a Calligraohy. It’s just gorgeous. The paint is a special edition matte white that’s really nice too. But yeah, I did it for the pecan.
Hyundai Canada has an agreement with the NHL, NHLPA and the NHL Alumni Association to be their official automotive partner. They hold no similar relationship with the NBA.
No. I mention in my video what the differences are with regard to features and options between the gas only and the hybrid. Please have a watch to learn all the differences.
It's a growing trend across the industry. The main reason is cost cutting to keep prices down. But usually when a model doesn't come with a spare it does include a rapid tire inflator kit.
You're partly right, the engines are made in Korea. But only the US bound Hybrids are assembled in the US. The models coming to Canada are assembled in Ulsan Korea.
Huh? how did this suddenly become political? Have a great day. And I didn't have any guns to give up. we don't need them up here. It's engrained in your culture not ours.
The hybrid is better, I agree. But I wouldn't save enough on gas to justify the higher cost. I found a gas calligraphy for less than the price of a hybrid limited.
Personally, I’d prefer the 2.5 for the extra power, but I’m wary of the dct. My future will involve much less driving so I’ll never recoup the difference in price surcharge, but I’ve owned that 6 speed tranny before and they are nearly indestructible.
There are a multitude of factors that can influence fuel economy. Everything from payload, driving style (heavy foot or jack rabbit starts are killers), climate, topography and more. It would be hard to say what the reasoning is without being there, but run through a check list that organizations like AAA or similar have to help improve fuel economy.
