I've gotten really lucky against the charizard deck by having lost city out while also having greninja being able to take out 2 or his charmanders before they could evolve. Going first is a huge advantage against charizard
Ive been playing this deck and never realized the chien pao can use the energy off ur other pokemon, wouldve been nice to know earlier. Ty for the video broseph
Wow, certainly love your take here against Charizard. You don't necessarily even need to be using chien pao for this style of play to work against the deck which is perfect. Ty 😊
What's funny is that the new Charizard has a glaring weakness, and that's it's need for your opponent to have prize cards taken. If they don't have prize cards taken when you have it, it doesn't do enough damage against ex/v cards. That alone can lead to that decks defeat (is how I beat it with a Chien-Pao deck, where they were only able to damage my Chien-Pao once but not knock it out and in turn gave me the ability to beat each Charizard afterwards).
I like this list. Chien-Pao is an archetype that allows for a lot of customization. Out of curiosity, how consistantly can this deck get a turn 2 radiant greninja play (with a manaphy on the board)?
This seems like a pretty even matchup. Rad zard could have turned the tide mid or late game in this matchup. Also Victini ex is a great early game attacker. Delphox is great for cleanup as well taking out bibarel and damaged chien pao. Lots of options on both sides. 😅
I don't know your decklist, but I guess you're playing Rod in Palkia. If Rod had been available, I wouldn't have bossed their 2nd Arceus. I would have used Iono to increase the odds of drawing into Rod, which could have been used to recycle the Chien-Pao in discard. Imagine he would have bossed your 2nd Chien-Pao - that would have destroyed your gameplan.
you could have one shotted the zard instead of attacking with palkia and you would have been able to attack next turn having 1 energy on palkia already
I intentionally chose not to. Sometimes Palkia can lose games to taking massive knockouts to early with the Chien Pao. The route I took would guarantee that I would be able to map it out the way I did. I could have done it that way but then they could have potentially gone boss ko the palk with the energy.
@@andreapozzi7042 yup he's right. i've been playing this deck for like a month now, and let me tell you that taking big KOs chien-pao very early really messes you up. because u have to remember that u don't play superior energy retrieval. the only way u get energy onto your mons in this deck is via manual attach, melony, and a one-time star portal. it gets especially bad if u star portal early on to take a big KO with chien. you will struggle after that because u got like 5+ energies in discard and maybe 1 or 2 attached on board. you really cant hit anymore 😂
Your opponent doesn't know how to play the deck. I could of beaten you easily plus my list is better than his. I am currently 12-0 with this deck (not online) and I have won soo many matches where I had 4-6 prize cards to take and they had 1 or 2.
Thanks for your great content!

I’ve been playing palkia for the last month and a half and it’s so good especially with decks that need basic low Hp Pokémon on the bench
Quality content, I have also found overall strategy against Zard is playing around their damage output. Fix the prize trade off early game.

How’d you do at worlds?
Was not my best event lol. Happens 🤷♂️
@@SmartTCG oh well. Next year
why try to focus on chari when lost box is more dificult to play against
Zard is a new deck that just came out that is why I wanted to cover it!

I honestly think this matchup is pretty poor for chien-pao just based on my testing. It’s winnable of course, but definitely unfavored
