For what its worth I've operated skid loaders since the 70's and used most brands and the best I've come across by far is the Takeuchi. They just never quit.
I’m in KS. When we seed something like that, we dump the seed down, take a small lawn tractor with about 10’ of chainlink fence on the back and drag that around to make sure the seed is under the dirt and even all over the area. Seems to work good.
Brother I have to say you are a knowledgeable man. If I lived in your state and needed that kind of work done I would be calling on you. Use your power rake going forward. Boom down touch rake wheels, place boom in float and use the tilt to control/set your height. back dragging is not needed as long as you give the rake time to process the material as you go forward. Speed and depth is the key.
I wouldn’t do work without one; whether for the loader or the 3pt hook up style that is used on a tractor. I’ve never ran this brand but they are a spitting image of the Glenmac brand that I’m used too. Glenmac brand has a wiring harness that moves the rake so you don’t even have to get out to turn it!!! I been using both styles for 10+ yrs and will always have one in the arsenal. And if you have a rock problem; this attachment will do wonders for you in those situations. Good purchase my friend!!!

I bought a bobcat soil conditioner, has hydraulic angle and the gauge wheels. Also has a float if your doing driveways that have rolling hills. I have put almost 300 hrs on it. I love it in the dirt and rock. I have learned that you can make it do the work. Just drive forward and angle the way you wanna turn it windrow the material. I enjoy watching your videos.

You're totally spot on, and the lot should have been shaped like this by the builder. I'm surprised their garage and house wasn't flooded all the time. ~Jon@SBYD!
We have the Cat brand rake with hyd power angling, if you have a lot of rocks or gravel in the soil your working, you can just angle your rake and "windrow" the rocks out of your worksite. Love it,saves so much hand work!
This job site is a PERFECT example of when and why you need a Multi Rake Bucket. When spreading out your material you can open the 4n1 and condition the soil, saving you from compacting the top soil and creating a layered affect. Once one section is done you don’t have to touch that part of the job site again!! You can close the 4n1 and continue spreading from your pile. This was a fundamentally perfect example of the convenience of having both bucket and power rake in one. What can we do to get you to try a Multi Rake Bucket?? We would love to get in touch with you about it!
The trick with the Harley rake is to go around the pirimitor of the job then make rows you can manufacture black dirt even going deeper to mix in some sand which helps drainage too . I WOULD do 250 lawns every season it also grades gravel roads great too .
I'm so glad to see you get a Harley rake I asked a long time ago for you could do a video on it. I love my woods brand rake for sure they do a wonderful job. But I have found something even better that I think you will see the potential in this attachment if you get a chance to look it up it's called a tr3 landscape rake. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED. LOVE THE VIDEOS KEEP UP THE HARD WORK
Power rake is my favorite thing to see work I tell everyone how great they are also the best way to fix gravel driveways brings all the old smashed gravel back up so amazing ! Thanks for all the great content I appreciate all the work you are putting in to record the action 🔨💪
Looks great and nice touch with the power rake what 2 nice pieces of equipment you got that sure did help out a lot on this project. Nice work and thanks for the awesome content stay safe and take care
I bought one this year from jenkins out of Minnesota, power angle, for a good price...couple minor things they could change i think but overall a good unit, very pleased, and I use the power angle constantly , makes the unit alot more versatile. What seems to help out with those little rocks is hitting it with the rock hound afterwards for a final
Its my first year using one, it also seems like if you raise up the unit so its just barely touching the ground, and angle it while backing up, it pulls some of those rocks out and puts them in a row, but you still have to pick them up with a bucket. Used it today to freshen up a crusher run parking lot, many uses and good luck with yours!
Congratulations on your new purchase; hope you make good money using it... Ps I so dislike a negative flow of water (flow of surface water that goes towards building)...
Hey Stan I bought the Hydrabucket after seeing it on your channel. I grade smaller sites where the power rake is too big and bulky. I don't get pulverized top soil. I grade the lot close with the tooth bucket then deliver small amounts of top soil with the bucket and back drag with the rale running and work my way out pulling debris with me. With the power rake I would need to switch to the bucket to clean up. There is a place for both but the rake seems to work better for larger sites.
I'm someone who prides myself on being early and I can help but feel that you are being disrespectful of my time if you show up late to meet with me. And if you ask the driver why he wasn't there early, he'd likely have many excuses that all boil down to him not getting an early enough start. And in this case, you are being disrespectful of the customer's money because you are slowing down progress and time is money on the job.
Good video, I started out like you. I get the grade close with a bucket then switch to the Harley rake and bury it deep and push the rocks to the end or the center by tilting the rake hydraulically then I change to a rock bucket with round tines and scoop up the rocks, if the rocks get stuck they normally pop out when you put the bucket down hard instead of beating them out ( flat tine buckets). Then I put down black dirt non-pulverized and Harley rake it again.
The power rake for your ventrac would be a little more nimble for residential job. I used a walk behind dingo with a Harley rake (what we call it) for my personal home. I love those things.
I discovered your channel a few days ago. You probably won't see comments this far back. I'm hoping you show videos from after the lawn has grown. Fingers crossed I'll find one.
I always set the boom to float and use the curl function to adjust the roller depth on the power rake, I set it deep to begin with to get all the junk out of the soil and then I run over it at a high rate of speed at a shallow depth to knock whatever junk off the surface and also knock high spots to end up with a surface that I don't even rake except for the edges. I typically charge an additional 50 an hour just for the attachment since it saves so much time versus doing the majority by hand
Lots of the landscapers I worked with on big commercial jobs used to Harley rake before putting down too soil to get rid of all the rocks and roots the rake it again after to get prepared seed bed like you said your new to it and I’ve never played with one but that’s what I see lots of people doing in my are worth trying out. Should work great on your driveway I used a similar designed tool called a rock rake for agriculture applications on my drive way
Bad soil or compact soil is probably the biggest killer of plants. Every year my dad would setup a half acre garden and due to our soil *80% clay, 15% silt, 5% sand*, he would bring out a small cultivator to till and grind the soil 12 inches down. That way the plants had somewhere to grow.
Every boss gets a little salty from time to time your under a lot of pressure to get things done on time, Your company reputation is at stake no worries your a professional and a great boss.
I hate people who compact topsoil especially those who put the entire weight of the machine on the bucket and make it super compacted. I love the power rake it’s honestly my favorite attachment for final grading.
You can powerrake that land close to the building, hence your rake is wider than the skidsteer. So you have to drive parallel to the wall and you can rake till the wall, unless the roof is a little too wide.
I know you call it black dirt, here in the Northeast we like to call it loam. You could expand your services and redo lawns with it, if someone wants a new lawn or do dirt driveways that need to be releveled.

@@JamesKain I do dirt work. Grew up around farmers. The tire comment is a joke. There's more than one reason tracks are so popular. The solid tires on that rake don't go flat.
All right you figured it out you needed to go over that bring all the other junk to the surface before you put down the black dirt right? But hind sight is 20/20. And you haven't got your rake yet. So next time you're grading and you have groups and stuff you bring that along and you'll clean up the dirt before you do anything else. I love that rake you know if you go forward with the race you'll be shoving those rocks in front of you. But you can't do that with the black dirt down. Anyway God bless America and God bless you and your family I love your show bye
Couple things. Seems like the top soil was an up sale. The original home site was cut out of the woods. The organic matter should be fantastic for growing grass. Also, is the fd up tree at 30:07 being removed? The bark was severely compromised. Nice work and video Stanley, thanks for sharing. Oh yeah. Looks like you might need your fare share of erosion blankets. Just a thought. Carry on😃
Yeah the trees are slotted to come out. there was good organic material but the sand underneath was a lot more. hard to sperate and keep it that way on such a small site with so much soil to move.
I don't know if I missed a previous video but you should have broken and levelled the sub soil with the rake as well ,and also set up all your levels We've used ours to beak up bitumen they are tough Cheers for the vid From Aus
You need to try a soil preperater the best I have used is the rock hound and cat brand, it does the same as power take it will pick up all rocks bigger than 3/4" leaves it level and ready for sod/ sees
@@Dirtmonkey they are worth the money I worked for a contractor that did all his own equipment work, to put in a new yard after final grade went from 2 days with 3 people on a 2 acre lot with rakes and wheel berrels to by my self in 4 hrs could load rocks into single axle dump without leaving the cab with very little dirt wasted. I'm in Arkansas very rocky
Maybe I havnt used a power rake enough to get why people love them so much but I prefer a rock rake (landscape rake) way more can flick all the junk into the bucket dump it into the low spots and keep raking it stretching the black dirt out can turn a yard that big into 3 buckets max of junk to haul away and only have to hand rack a couple track marks.
yoi can mix sand from the base also to save black dirt then add more black dirt on top and mix again . save money manufacturing more top soil better drainage .
We usually bucket first Harley rake it then final stage is a implament called Rock hound it actually gives a finer almost finer finish then hand raking look it up it will be your new favorite implament
I think maybe, run the power rake before the final grade just to bring up and break up all the junk and roots and loose rocks. And then spread your black dirt. And then do the final rake. I just feel like it'll make your final rake cleaner and easier. Ps. Really enjoy the vids brother
@@Dirtmonkey if I was you with that new toy... I'd plan a huge project for it. Admit it, you're putting a golf course in you backyard. Or are you smoothing out the yard over your bunker to blend it in?
We've had issues with that same auto bucket lock system, we had a grease zirk break off somehow and if let the locking pin rust and it took serious beating to get the thing to even move. Hopefully our cylinder doesn't have any issues like this.
I use my power rake driving forward more so than backwards but I don't use sifted dirt and dump my black dirt out of the bucket as fast as I can. Going forward goes with your butt grading too. Take your 4- wheeler with a small harrow section after you power rake to make that seed bed absolutely perfect and smooth but don't use the harrow to cover the seed, use a small cultipacker behind the 4-wheeler.
I also want my black dirt firm before seeding. When you walk across it you shouldn't sink in at all and leave a footprint. It should be hard to even see your foot track. If it is that loose, you'll bury the seed to much. That and it's too easy for the rain to make gullies in the loose powder and really make a mess of things.
But I love to watch your video I bought a small compact tractor and a another small tractor to I do vegetable farming and also fix people's driveways in yards back for him like you do not like to see you the work that you do you do a pretty good job old man
One job I did, the home owner must’ve watched some vids and became an expert over night. Spread 300 yards and raked it all. Home owner said it “NEEDS” to be 3 inch thick. Was a huge fight about it. Got another 300 yards. Spread it and seeded it. Constant battle with trying to get grass to grow. Eventually we just said find someone else.
If sowing a lawn on hard unhealthy soil you will need at least 3 inches preferably around 5 of good soil and about an inch of aggregate at the bottom encourages healthy rooting.
@@Dirtmonkey Massachusetts. The place near me advertises compost and compost soil mix. The compost is never full broken down and the 3 places I’ve gotten soil from it’s never as nice as I see in your videos.

You need to seed and straw. The straw will hold the ground until the seed takes hold. The straw rots away and makes a nice bed for the grass.
@@scottm2828 he didn't say anything about the straw . lt was just a suggestion.I've been an operator for 40 years. He does excellent work.
in a different video, i saw him use straw while seeding on a hill.
Yep straw blanket and seed are being done by the homeowner.
We run a rockhound that's a power rake with bucket to catch all the rocks. Saves a bunch of time
Something I always wanted to try is a tilt tach with it. Maybe even hook hoses together and allow the tilt tach to float and follow contours.
Dirt Monkey: I crack myself up.
Me: 🤣🤣🤣🤣😬
Someone's gotta 😂
Couple things. Seems like the top soil was an up sale. The original home site was cut out of the woods. The organic matter should be fantastic for growing grass. Also, is the fd up tree at 30:07 being removed? The bark was severely compromised. Nice work and video Stanley, thanks for sharing. Oh yeah. Looks like you might need your fare share of erosion blankets. Just a thought. Carry on😃
Yeah the trees are slotted to come out. there was good organic material but the sand underneath was a lot more. hard to sperate and keep it that way on such a small site with so much soil to move.
I don't know if I missed a previous video but you should have broken and levelled the sub soil with the rake as well ,and also set up all your levels
We've used ours to beak up bitumen they are tough
Cheers for the vid
From Aus
Thats was in video one and 2 just released before this
You need to try a soil preperater the best I have used is the rock hound and cat brand, it does the same as power take it will pick up all rocks bigger than 3/4" leaves it level and ready for sod/ sees
Dang - Ive never ran one of those. Now I want to try it.
Bobcat Makes the best Harley rake on the market. Bullet proof machine has float option and direct drive
We usually bucket first Harley rake it then final stage is a implament called Rock hound it actually gives a finer almost finer finish then hand raking look it up it will be your new favorite implament
Looks great 👍 I finished in reverse
I think maybe, run the power rake before the final grade just to bring up and break up all the junk and roots and loose rocks. And then spread your black dirt. And then do the final rake. I just feel like it'll make your final rake cleaner and easier. Ps. Really enjoy the vids brother
Huh, I just realized I'm the same way. "Don't mess with me in work mode."
Yeah- I get intense when Im working.
@@Dirtmonkey if I was you with that new toy... I'd plan a huge project for it.
Admit it, you're putting a golf course in you backyard.
Or are you smoothing out the yard over your bunker to blend it in?
Great video
Great video,loved it!
Twin narrators for the price of one. Thanks Stan.
You bet
Solid job! Thanks
So satisfying to watch, I love it
Glad you enjoyed it!
We've had issues with that same auto bucket lock system, we had a grease zirk break off somehow and if let the locking pin rust and it took serious beating to get the thing to even move. Hopefully our cylinder doesn't have any issues like this.
Definitely like those tires on the rake wish they folded up though like smaller one.
But I like that can pivot turn and not tear up ground, but I wonder how long before they break from the weight?
fold up wheels is an option that we have. we have new stuff coming for next year also. www.mtwsp.com
But grass will grow in most native soils so I do agree with you, I’m just saying they were correct about “standard procedures”
I absolutely get pissed when this happens. Either material shows up late or stuff breaks.
I wish a place had good dirt like that around me.
Where are you?
@@Dirtmonkey Massachusetts. The place near me advertises compost and compost soil mix. The compost is never full broken down and the 3 places I’ve gotten soil from it’s never as nice as I see in your videos.
@@sloth9669 ask about garden grade soil
As my boss would say...."that's some good dirt right thar"
love the phone wallpaper DBZ I subscribed right away
The power rake may allow yo to bid on larger turf grass projects, golf courses for instance. Proper soil prep is 90% of any turf project.
I'm right with ya. Finding other people to fix my oopsie. Lmao
Should have invested in a rock hound attachment it rakes and picks up all the garbage all in one process.
