- People with links to militias and extremist groups are typically known for their anti-government views. But many are now standing as independent politicians, or infiltrating the Republican Party - and becoming the official GOP candidates in the 2022 midterms.
This November, American voters will go to the polls for the country’s midterm elections. It’s the first major ballot since the January 6th insurrection, and Donald Trump’s efforts to undermine the vote in 2020.
This is how a shocking number of candidates in the 2022 midterms have links to far-right groups, making this election a battle for the soul of the Republican Party and American democracy itself.

If you want sanity again, reinstate the FCC’s Fairness Doctrine of 1949 that required unbiased truthful reporting. No opinion or editorial spin allowed. Reagan repealed it in 1987.
There's also that thing Obama repealed that now basically allows propaganda in the media.
Not to mention networks like Fox 'News' can just spout bullshit and lies all day every day, only for their lawyers to say 'no sane person would take us seriously' in court, and that's somehow an air-tight and permissible defence?! I get political figures being republicans, democrats and conservatives but now that has turned us “the people/the common people ” against each other because they believe certain parties lean towards certain ways of thinking and the people take it to extreme lengths, morphing their own personal thoughts towards specific political parties. It’s unfair for us the people to completely ignore common sense and research just to remain in certain parties only because it strengthens their own personal opinions on the way they think the nation should operate. The worst anomaly of this is the news because they each support a specific way of thinking which is also dangerous for the people because the people are morphing their views based on how the media is wording the policies of the candidates. It’s a danger to our nation for us to have our minds made up before we’re able to see our candidates and hear them speak.

The US has never been particularly "democratic", the historic Three Fifth's Compromise, the Electoral College and the sheer amount of wealth you need at your disposal to even stand as a candidate have never been optimal for democracy.
