Those duffer brothers were able to successfully recapture that true adventure feel. And they seem more concerned bout the story they're trying to tell rather than the fame it's getting them. Great job guys! Can't wait for more! You helped cement Netflix into my life
Did someone ask for more '80s adventure? Uncanny similarity in concept to my e-book; Dustin is like a young Ox before his voice dropped and he became a stoner! (Should I feel ripped-off?)
+The Trusty Butter Knife: An '80s Adventure I'm not sure if I was looking for that 80s adventure feel. I honestly didn't know it could be done again so it wasn't something for me to search for. Then this came outta nowhere for me and just blew me away. Idk if this was a book first either. I do know that all the actors loved the script instantly. In my opinion, I don't think getting ripped off should be as important as your story telling. Even if your audience now has something recent to compare it to, at least it's part of the conversation. Also I watch more than I read so I'm proly the last person to spout my nonsense. Good look w ur e book.
larnizzo91 That's rad! Thanks for your feedback, I really appreciate it, and all your positive words, it means a lot to me. You are absolutely right about the '80s buzz from shows like this, I hope will help get my story out there, I was just trying to create my own buzz because it is weird how there are similarities between my concept and theirs, my story just is about a couple years later with kids a couple years older and no sci-fi, just tons of mischief and adventure! Thanks again, and don't forget, The Trusty Butter Knife is your key back to 1985 if you ever need it!
The 80's is making a comeback. Like previous commenter said, that decade seems magical to us, and mixed with an ET/Pretty in Pink/Alien/Poltergeist-mashup storyline, nostalgia twists with classic horror elements to make it addicting. But I agree, great casting! Glad Barb died though - she was boring.
I agree with the brothers when they said, at the end, that it shouldn't drag on to multiple seasons just because the fans want the show to. I like it that they stay true to themselves.
Winona was pretty dramatic but I liked that. Her son was missing and she was devastated. A desperate mother taking desperate attempts to bring her son back. Even chopping into the wall to reach him some way.
Why is this show sooooooo damn good???? It is literally probably my all time favorite show. I'm not even born in the 80's but I love the scenes, the atmosphere, the music, the cast, the story line. Duffer bros you guys are something truly special!!!!!
"My hope is by the end of season two people are like well now it should be done, there shouldn't be another one and then, well see." When he said, and then, we'll see... It seemed like he was going to say "and then, we'll prove the audience wrong and that their can be another season after that" but of course he wouldn't say that, that's why he said we'll see. This show has potential to reach three seasons and still be great.
"... yeah we creating Stranger Things" Well, Duffer Brothers, you should be freaking proud! Stranger Things makes me feel so nostalgic and I wasn't even born in the 80's. I feel like I've lived through it though; it's a strange thing really.
It seemed to me like it was an accident that she opened it up? Although I guess she could have done it purposely to destroy the lab and escape. Either way, Will is turning into one of those shape shifting monsters and Im freaked out!
I love watching these old interviews. They some how pulled off making 3 perfect seasons. Season 1 is a masterpiece. Season 2 was amazing and season 3 was mind blowing. The Duffer Brothers are geniuses.
and s4 now is another masterpiece. not only that, they have created another star in sadie sink the way they created millie in s1. i didnt watch this till sometime last month. but i remeber the world being blown away by millie in 2016, and s4 came out at a time i hadnt even started it and even then i knew sadie was blowing up
i loved all the actors, especially the kids and the sheriff like they where born for this role and that they shot the series in an eighties style is the cherry on the pie that gave me chills down my spine
the guys are good-looking. at first, i was "are they identical twins?" yes and then no. then i read somewhere that they are. they look so much alike and other times, they look just a little different.
FUCK...THEY ARE LIKE 30 AND HAVE ALREADY CREATED THE MOST POPULAR TELEVISION SHOW OF 2016...MAKES ME FEEL LIKE SHIT WHEN I SEE PEOPLE AROUND MY AGE WHO ARE BECOMING TREMENDOUSLY SUCCESSFUL...
you shouldn't feel like shit at all!!! you should get inspired! I think the show is an incredible inspiration to strive for our best, no matter the amount of "success" - if there is something you're passionate about, follow your heart and see where it gets you! all my best & greets from Sardinia :)
Well here I am late again but just wanna say I finished all 3 seasons in 4 days and I'm in love with this show. It is literally one of the best show I've watched in my life
the best original series in a very long time . and if you grew up in the 80,s and you felt weird or was an outcast . this is really meant for people like us . its amazing and season 2 is mind blowing .and cant wait to see what the duffer bros have for us in season 3
I searched up "duffer brothers interview" Because I feel these guys genuinely have a deep knowledge of the supernatural and I wanna pick their brains so badly
Just finished it in one sitting.. I am completely obsessed! I really hope they take all the time that they need with more freedom to be creative. As a fan, I really hope that the sequel won't be a rushed fan pushed season. If stranger things took on a whole another plot in a different setting with the same cast, I wouldn't even be mad because that how much I trust these brothers.
this is why Netflix is taking over...they are giving us shoes we want and no controlling things. ive stop watching tv for like 2 years but when i got Netflix and watching Netflix originals i start enjoying shows again.
I LOVE this show, one of the reasons I am really excited for season 2 is because I'm hoping we'll get to know Will's personality better. We know everyone else's personality but we don't know Will's very well because he wasn't in the first season very much
I agree with mark Fuzuzu, Will is so underrated, Will the character is so lovable, when in the first episode he said to Michael that he actually got a 9 instead of 15 or something, it just shows in a way what an honest sweet kid he is. But I actually think Jonathan is the most underrated, he is so awesome.. He is portrayed as this lonely looser with a poor "broken" family, but despite that, he really only wish good for the people around him. The way he cares and helps his mother and Will. I think the saying "the saddest people smile the brightest" is perfect for Jonathan, even though his life kinda sucks, you really have to smile when you see Jonathan be happy, like when Will is back at the hospital, you cannot not cry of happiness in that scene...
Why is it brothers that always make record breaking movie/television. Duffer Brothers - Stranger Things Russo Brothers - Avengers Endgame Whats next? The Super Mario Brothers?
The show paralleled SO MANY 80's memorable thrillers... Firestarter (this is the biggest one), The Gate (another big one), Nightmare on Elm Street, Alien, Friday the 13th, The Exorcist...
Also it's kind of nice to have it all be tied into my home state. And they just seem like too incredibly cool guys. I cannot wait to see what they've got in store for us for next year.
big fan base between 30s and mid 45 age base but caught alot of the young adults. great acting kids totally got the best reviews and the cop . come to think of it i cant find 1 bad acting
I just watched all 8 episodes for the first time last night and i loved it. After the HYPE was gone i felt more interested in it and had a more personal connection to it. The multilayered story telling was really well done.....and i hope mike still gets to take eleven to the snowball.
i got into the strangers things train just recently, this show is very good, the cast is awesome, the story and the pace is very good, it's not redundant and boring. kudos to the directors!, i had the idea they'll be older.....and unattractive.
Great show. I just think it's funny about their thoughts on being twins. They both have the same hair style, short beards and clothes. I have an identical twin and we really shy away from doing stuff like that. lol
This show is so wonderful. I enjoy so much. So does my sister, my nephew, and my niece. In fact my sister and niece bing this show. They watch all four seasons last summer. They enjoyed every episode. They can't wait until the fifth season. I am pretty sure my nephew is also looking forward for it also.
I must say I disagree that Winona is the face of the show. Millie Bobbie Brown is the face of the show. At least from the perception of the viewers. Maybe they didn't intend it to be that way but Eleven captivated us, she stole the show without taking away from other characters if that makes sense.
Amanda Corinne I think they were referring to her being the biggest name and the one to draw ppl's attention just from seeing her face alone. Everyone else is pretty much unfamiliar or a newbie so Winona's presence is like an anchor of credibility. Example ppl can say "Have you seen Winona Ryder 's new show?". I also agree w everything you did about Millie! She stole our hearts with very little lines!
Amanda Corinne you misunderstand them, when they say Winona is the face of the show, they mean that in the way this project would be marketed. Millie was an unknown when Stranger Things first came out, therefore her presence did not afford the show any credibility and status, Winona does however as she is by far the biggest name of the whole cast. That's what they mean by "face" of the show, because it's her name and her fame that helps the show stand when they're making it and when it's first marketed. All you have to look at for this is how people reacted seeing the first trailer for Stranger Things or even the poster, the one person people recognize and associate with the show is Winona Ryder, people know her name and her face, Millie was at that point just another nameless child actor. Yes post the show release, it is Millie who has become the stand out star, but when they were making this series and doing the marketing, it is Winona's name carrying it
Ari Elle exactly. When this show first came out and word was spreading, all I kept hearing was "you've gotta watch that new Netflix show with Winona Ryder." That was all I knew about it... Winona Ryder was in it and apparently people were loving it. She was the famous face, the famous name, so she was the face of the show when it debuted.
Ari Elle A lot of younger audiences probably won't know who Mathew Modine is. Even I forgot he was in Vision Quest back in the 80s. Millie is doing a fantastic job playing at first a scared quiete child into a fighting machine all the time acting with her her body and face with very little dialogue which is extremely difficult specially for a child.
NETFLIX IS OUR FRIEND AND SHE'S CRAZY!!!
Lol you forgot to quote them REKT
IF YOU COME BACK SHE'LL KILL YOU WITH VOLTRON AND DAREDEVIL
Wendy Menjivar 400th like.
😂😂
I'm so happy this show is popular. everything from the characters, music, story, atmosphere, etc. it's just perfect to me.
Sarah Schaack I totally agree! Everything's so perfect.
Arguably one of the best shows I've ever seen.
rustyrides600 yess
rustyrides600 it doesn’t take on common sense though
Im Nitrousxp it’s a show for entertainment. not a documentary.
Breaking bad is way better
Those duffer brothers were able to successfully recapture that true adventure feel. And they seem more concerned bout the story they're trying to tell rather than the fame it's getting them. Great job guys! Can't wait for more! You helped cement Netflix into my life
Well said!
To them it's all about telling an amazing story.
An interviewer with good questions? What a novel concept.
HAHAHA
You mean the most pretentious questions ever.
The casting was perfect for the show that is why it is a success
Not only that. there were many other contributing factors!
+ハービ omg I know right!!! I love the 80s and 90s so good!
Casting doesn't matter without solid writing. Also, the 80's is far enough away for people to sort of romanticize the era.
The 80's is making a comeback. Like previous commenter said, that decade seems magical to us, and mixed with an ET/Pretty in Pink/Alien/Poltergeist-mashup storyline, nostalgia twists with classic horror elements to make it addicting. But I agree, great casting! Glad Barb died though - she was boring.
casting, writing, acting, directing...everything was pretty much perfect
I agree with the brothers when they said, at the end, that it shouldn't drag on to multiple seasons just because the fans want the show to. I like it that they stay true to themselves.
well season 2 coming and they have so much to work with so i think we will at least 2 more after that
Kid I know God Im hoping so. I think 4 seasons would be perfect. I cant live without this show
Fred Eye I'm glad that's what they believe
You made me touch my screen ^^
Winona was pretty dramatic but I liked that. Her son was missing and she was devastated. A desperate mother taking desperate attempts to bring her son back. Even chopping into the wall to reach him some way.
F-zero91maru have u finished it by now? What’s u think?
The best bit was when Barb was all dead and she had those weird slugs comin out of her mouth. Haha classic Barbara.
Fuck you. Barbara is immortal and she'll haunt you with her smart ass humor. Bitch.
oh Barb
haha, classic Barb
Barb...always making it about her :-P
Bianco Chetty She always was rather sluggish at school.
God they are amazing. Every point they consider in the creation process really highlights why it turned out so well. High hopes for Season Two!
GOD BLESS these brothers, I fucking love this show
***** gravity falls is amazing too btw ;)
+MsLm97 it's true!
same lol
Omg... The one thing I said when I was watching it is that I felt like I was watching a movie not a tv show..
Q Schwenk same
By judging this past year, Stranger Things was honestly the best thing to come out of the year 2016
Why is this show sooooooo damn good???? It is literally probably my all time favorite show. I'm not even born in the 80's but I love the scenes, the atmosphere, the music, the cast, the story line. Duffer bros you guys are something truly special!!!!!
Netflix is killing cable
"My hope is by the end of season two people are like well now it should be done, there shouldn't be another one and then, well see." When he said, and then, we'll see... It seemed like he was going to say "and then, we'll prove the audience wrong and that their can be another season after that" but of course he wouldn't say that, that's why he said we'll see. This show has potential to reach three seasons and still be great.
It has been confirmed season 2 :D
i don't think it's a that kind of "we'll" see
i like this director ... they sounds like they know how movie troupe works...
I can't remember which interview it was, but if I recall correctly; they said they would be up for 4-5 seasons.
EJM3 .
i'm so glad they didn't do an anthology. i'm too attached to the characters and i don't want to see them go yet
Like when you don't have more chapters to watch so you're watching every intervew there is
Lucrecia Serio me rn still
Netflix is our friend and she's crazy, lol!
"... yeah we creating Stranger Things" Well, Duffer Brothers, you should be freaking proud! Stranger Things makes me feel so nostalgic and I wasn't even born in the 80's. I feel like I've lived through it though; it's a strange thing really.
Same! I felt like i was there when i watched it!
Finally, a full video broadcast interview with Matt and Ross Duffer. Not sure why it took soooo long but I'm happy we finally get to see it.
if they don't bring Eleven back that would be a big mistake...everybody loves her!!
Extremely likey she will come back...
She's in the cast list for season 2 so she's definitely involved in the series one way or another
+iitsYoussef Do you have a link?
It seemed to me like it was an accident that she opened it up? Although I guess she could have done it purposely to destroy the lab and escape. Either way, Will is turning into one of those shape shifting monsters and Im freaked out!
Eleven simply opened the rift. I don't think she's the monster.
I love watching these old interviews. They some how pulled off making 3 perfect seasons. Season 1 is a masterpiece. Season 2 was amazing and season 3 was mind blowing. The Duffer Brothers are geniuses.
👌🙏🙏!

Thank God for the Duffer brothers.
i loved all the actors, especially the kids and the sheriff like they where born for this role

An incredible interviewer!!!
Classy and asking brilliant questions!!!...I love this interview!!..Finally..Thank you!

nestor1924 I
the guys are good-looking. at first, i was "are they identical twins?" yes and then no. then i read somewhere that they are. they look so much alike and other times, they look just a little different.
FUCK...THEY ARE LIKE 30 AND HAVE ALREADY CREATED THE MOST POPULAR TELEVISION SHOW OF 2016...MAKES ME FEEL LIKE SHIT WHEN I SEE PEOPLE AROUND MY AGE WHO ARE BECOMING TREMENDOUSLY SUCCESSFUL...
Without you they wouldn't have become succesful. So it's our work as well ;)
you shouldn't feel like shit at all!!! you should get inspired! I think the show is an incredible inspiration to strive for our best, no matter the amount of "success" - if there is something you're passionate about, follow your heart and see where it gets you! all my best & greets from Sardinia :)
...bye bye the success for you...
"success"
work hard ;-;
Why are there so many brothers who work in film together?
probably because they know how to communicate and work with each other best.
hahaha you dont have a brother do you :D
If I would have to work on a movie with my brother we would kill each other befor we made the first scene.
:D
MrAPC I do have a brother, actually. We got along just fine :]
probably cause they sold their souls together idk lol ..
Lol one sold his soul for success, the other for creativity. Hahaha that's a funny thought
Well here I am late again but just wanna say I finished all 3 seasons in 4 days and I'm in love with this show. It is literally one of the best show I've watched in my life
I just discovered this show a few weeks ago and it's one of the best! I love it so much!
Such a feel good factor - Hats of to the world they created . Great news about Season 2 ...
I thought it was illegal to be hot and super smart at the same time 😑
Great interview. A lot more insightful than I thought it would be
as a twin from the carolinas, who also works with their twin as an adult now, i relate to them so much. i love this show, too. bless
Geniuses! Their show makes me happy. It's not just good. It makes me happy. If I ever meet them I will thank them personally.
one of the greatest shows of all time already...instant classic and winona is amazing in this.
Makes me cry cause it reminds me of the 80s best decade. I’m 44 now
the best original series in a very long time . and if you grew up in the 80,s and you felt weird or was an outcast . this is really meant for people like us . its amazing and season 2 is mind blowing .and cant wait to see what the duffer bros have for us in season 3
Take a shot every time the brother on the right says "You know"
that a shot the brother on the right talks over his other brother say I something elae
* else
Amazing show amazing cast and wonderful creators excited for season 2 imma rewatch season 1 all over again
Stranger Things is the perfect show
The underdog of Summer TV became a hit thru the word of mouth of Netflix Subscribers
Such talent!!
Agree on what they say about eleven can read her without her talking, her facial expressions very cute and talented my favourite
I'm so thankful it wasn't broadcast on network TV
I searched up "duffer brothers interview" Because I feel these guys genuinely have a deep knowledge of the supernatural and I wanna pick their brains so badly
2023. Waiting for last season.😢
Just finished it in one sitting.. I am completely obsessed! I really hope they take all the time that they need with more freedom to be creative. As a fan, I really hope that the sequel won't be a rushed fan pushed season. everything is perfect in this series - cast, music, story, scenography etc!
THANK GOD THAT THESE TWO EXIST
I feel like the duffer brothers are like the Alex Hirsch of netflix
i loved this interview! i just made a tribute to the show in celebration of the show being renewed. i can't wait for s2.
I'm trying to decide which character is my favorite. It's between Johnathan, Will, Michael & Eleven. Thoughts?
I think Eleven is my favorite. It's very refreshing to see a young, badass, strong girl.
You're right, Dan. I rewatched the series, and it clinched my decision that Eleven is da bomb.
Eleven, Hopper, Dustin, Jonathan... ahh I have a hard time deciding, everyone is so special!
BlankCanvas88 will and steve
Why is it brothers that always make record breaking movie/television.
Duffer Brothers - Stranger Things
Russo Brothers - Avengers Endgame
Whats next?
The Super Mario Brothers?
Why are these talented writer/directors Justin Timberlake looking? That's fair?
The whole cast is crazy good, all the new additional cast in ST2 are crazy good. What can I say, best TV since Breaking Bad.
Everyone did a good job. I don't have one bad thing to say about the cast, the characters, or anything. It's all beautiful
The show paralleled SO MANY 80's memorable thrillers... Firestarter (this is the biggest one), The Gate (another big one), Nightmare on Elm Street, Alien, Friday the 13th, The Exorcist...
0:06 "the craters of [Stranger Things]"
Yeah, that show packed some punch, all right.
It's Awesome the show was directed by brothers. They can bounce all their ideas off of each other. That's a big part of why the show is so great.
Duffer brothers I love you! You are my heroes. Even growing up in the UK, Stranger Things feels like my 80s childhood (minus a demagorgon or two)
YAY!! the Duffer brothers are from North Carolina, like me!! That explains the talent (lol) and also the small-town, rural sleepy feel of the show!!
This show is the tits!!!
and ass!!
ikr i did a 20 sec animation of it bc i love it
i did 80 works
of art because of it. Im obsessed ;)
i did 240 records inspired by it cause it's just normal after a show like this
totally tits? lol reminds me of Grace Helbig's old vids from ~2012
I didn't even know they were twins, but it now makes sense.... They look so much alike
Also it's kind of nice to have it all be tied into my home state. And they just seem like too incredibly cool guys. I cannot wait to see what they've got in store for us for next year.
big fan base between 30s and mid 45 age base but caught alot of the young adults. great acting kids totally got the best reviews and the cop . come to think of it i cant find 1 bad acting
it already &instantly bacome classic like The Goonies,
slow pace, no cellphones and quick transitions and camera moves ... refreshing
thanks CBS!
already fucked up at 1:30 from the "you know" drink game.
Duffer brothers = genius👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Yes, "Goonies"! I knew it. That sense of reminiscence.
But, Stranger Things is a much, much better and smarter version than Goonies. No doubt.
Just love this show and I didn't grow up in the 80's...Netflix with house of cards and stranger things...starting to love them
so handsome tho 😍
Huge respect✊✊
only 9 more episodes???
I just watched all 8 episodes for the first time last night and i loved it. After the HYPE was gone i felt more interested in it and had a more personal connection to it. The multilayered story telling was really well done.....and i hope mike still gets to take eleven to the snowball.
Just finished watching the first season amazing show keep up the good work
i got into the strangers things train just recently, this show is very good, the cast is awesome, the story and the pace is very good, it's not redundant and boring.
kudos to the directors!, i had the idea they'll be older.....and unattractive.
These brothers are hot handsome and that was unexpected
Great show! Can't wait for season 2
Duffer brothers are geniuses !!
It's so hard for me to tell them apart
Loved it. They did an amazing job.
Amazing 8hr movie! :) The Duffer Bros ain't no joke. I feel like they could probably make an Ender's Game series on Netflix..;)
Omg that would be awesome!! the film was so crap we need someone to make it right
Great show. I just think it's funny about their thoughts on being twins. They both have the same hair style, short beards and clothes. I have an identical twin and we really shy away from doing stuff like that. lol
Ok if they made season three, it should be about the 4 new characters or something like that.
I don't think it'll be done after season two! I like to see maybe six or seven, heck maybe more
This show is so wonderful. I enjoy so much. So does my sister, my nephew, and my niece. In fact my sister and niece bing this show. They watch all four seasons last summer. They enjoyed every episode. They can't wait until the fifth season. I am pretty sure my nephew is also looking forward for it also.
good interview :D
The guy on the right looks like steve on the first episode and the guy on the left looks like steve in the last episode.

I hate reboots, please don't reboot! We became attached to the characters already
Yup I have friends that have the acctual personality
These guys are geniouses
I really can't tell if they're identical twins
Okay but why do they look so good in the thumbnai-
Some very smart guys here, can learn from them for sure
