to be honest i do not rlly understand the hype around mai either. first i had her in my ideal lineup bc i loved her persona and visuals and i have to admit that shes a great leader but if we're saying that we're gonna have either fuko, jiyoon or yuju in the lineup who proved themselves as a leader too then theres not rlly a huge need of having her there too. shes always playing it safe with her own parts and honestly only stands out when mnet is holding the camera straight into her face. but i rlly think she was improving a lot vocally (shoutout to jiyoon) in the new episode and as i said i like her online persona so i dont have anything against her debuting

I really do see Saebi having this star quality. My one issue is that sometimes, her facial expressions feel either forced or makes me feel uncomfortable. Not to compare her with another trainee but Yungseo from RUNext was consistently showing facial expressions in all of her stages but never once did they feel off or forced. I also agree with the Mai topic as she was someone I kept in mind during the first few episodes. The reason being because of her personality but now, I do not really see her in my ideal lineup.

At first, I really liked how expressive she was, but it’s like she has a certain number of expressions and it’s repeated in every performance, eg she bites her lips, and blinks a few times in e-ve-ry-song. Now, when I watch her performances, im waiting to see if she will surprise me by not doing it lol
Yeah saebi has a list of expressions that she uses every performance that only works for one concept and they aren’t as natural feeling as some other contestants’
Jiyoon my no.1 pick since she sung in drama. I've been a massive supporter since day one and I resonate with her bluntness and straightforwardness. Jiyoon, while being motivated, is incredibly scary though. It's honestly scary how good she was in 'I am the best' performance. Her stage presence as center (especially her part with juwon) was insane. P.S Juwon is the black horse of the show and Jungeun is now in trouble of not debuting.
I saw episode 8 and Mai really improved she almost got rid of her nasally voice, if you watch her drama face cam and her 2ne1 one you can tell she improved. Also her dance is really good! I hope Mai debuts❤
I like Mai after seeing her personality but I have watched her fancams and she has a long way to go on vocals and dancing. The show edits the performances so much so people you may think stand out (or don't) is probably due to camera angles and editing.
Agree with all the critics. I just wanna say or add something. Everyone turned their back from Sujung after yesterday's episode. It's valid tho. But all those 8 episodes noone can find a moment when she was appreciated for what she has done. Never. She was least picked trainee for the producers. She is or was never a pick for the final lineup( mn*t and producers). It's just audience loved to see her. Audience literally saved her. And this time intentionally, unintentionally, unfortunately she is the one who gave mn*t the element that could be used to show her a evil person. I'm not justifying what she said. I won't say it either she was wrong if you think this was the situation that was like that. Comparing to others she was too competitive. And mn*t didn't misuse their chance I really don't think she will make it to the final lineup although she is in my top 5. I just love this girl so much potential in her, in previous episode she always helped others, I never saw her like this but just for 10 seconds edit I won't turn my back towards her. I just never saw she got positive feedback from any producer and also this edit, after episode 8 fans reaction it felt so wrong that I'm anxious she won't be able to make it.

I truly understand why people hate on her now, she did said awful things and I am sad about it. the thing is I would want people to try and think from her point of view too. she's in the most stressful moment of her life probably, and anything she tried from ep 1 to now, the producers tried so hard to find something to criticize her, even when she did all right(iwaly, i am the best). plus, the producers are getting more and more biased towards some trainees, and, even if I think all of the girls deserve the praise, it really shows how much they try to put down the trainees they don't like, like sujung. I'm not defending her bcs I know she is in the wrong, but I don't think she's a bad person either

I think she expressed herself in a bad way indeed but, in this point of the show, they are already perceiving who probably will debut and the ones who are fighting for the last spots. If I were her, I would also not help Mai, and specially considering she's Sujung opposite: she's not doing great, but receives all the praise. I would feel frustrated and worried with the possibility of her getting my "possible debut spot".

Quite honestly I know Jeemin is a front runner for the debut lineup, and while I believe she was treated unfairly in RUNext, I feel like she hasn't shown enough versatility to deserve my vote. Her La Vie en Rose performance was great, but I wanna see more from her if that makes sense. Depending on what she shows in the next few episodes, she might swap into my lineup in place of Jiyoon.
I'm hoping it ends being 7 girls - they'll likely split it as 4 producers picks and 3 audience picks. That way they can look at all the votes, see who's ranking where and use the producer picks to "save" like 2 girls that are ranking lower that they still want in the group and use that system to make the group they want. Let's face it - there's always going to be some type of studio/company involvement in the selection so I see it working out that way. I hope we still get 3 picks as the show goes on, but we know it'll likely go down to one like GP999.

Can't believe Sarang is really unappreciated and underrated despite being the best All rounder in the show. Most of her performance were decent & Challenging.she also plays big role lin some battles. No way this all rounder is losing. I hope people see the charisma of her and passionate about her career. She's very ambitious, determined and perseverance as well. I think mai might be lacking but i can't deny she is a good performer.i was among those who said she is only a visual but then i tried watching her objectively. I think she has an amazing stage presence than people give her credit for.And i don't mean just her visuals her ecpressions are good and her dance may not be the best but she is a smart dancer.For example, in rain on me there was a centre part she did and i realized she had a good grasp on how to make her dance dynamic. It's clear mnet is choosing to focus on her as producer's don't want her to debut and they must make her the 'evil' focus. At the end of the day she's right, it's a competition, and most people would be acting the exact same way. Of course you should keep a degree of professionalism as a potential idol, but I think Sujung is aware of the producer's favourites and wants to give herself the best chance of debuting. It's not necessarily sabotage, but in a competitive show you must put yourself first

Kim Gyuri is the only one i like in all honesty. Not bashing down the other girls, i would totally support them too but the main reason why i even watch the show is because of Kim Gyuri and i hope she does to get to debut. All the remaining trainees are great (as were Yui and Lingling, gone but not forgotten 😢❤) so I think it's absolutely a popularity game from the public with whatever degree of sway the producers' want to add at this point. My current predictions for the final members are: -Jiyoon -Fuko or Yuju (I think Fuko's popularity has been falling and Yuju's rising) -Koko or Mai (I can truly see either but not both) -Saebi -Sarang -Jeemin My current preferred final members prior to watching Ep 9 are: -Jiyoon -Fuko -Saebi -Sujung -Jeemin -Jungeun

Yes Jungeun is amazing, too bad though, she got evil editing in the recent episode along with both Sujung and Yuju (talented ones) and she also didn't get a lots of votes from the Koreans apparently bc of 'visual' For Mai though, I thought she was overrated at first bc of her visual but I gradually came to like her personality after more and more episodes but again, after the show really favors her, I stand again with my opinion about her being 'overated'. I'm not hating, this is just my honest opinion of her but she really shines just because of her visual and forced expression, different from Saebi, she doesn't just shines only when the camera filming her but in every member parts, how? Because she's talented. I'm not saying Mai doesn't but she really- and I mean really need to improve on stabilizing her vocal, not just stabilize but fix her overall vocal ability. I'm sorry but among all 12 trainees, mai has to be the least skilled, now that we're in part 2 there are only a few trainees left we have no business voting for trainees that have "potential" to improve or are still "learning" to catch up and improve, we're multiple episodes in now we need to judge them based on their current skills and to vote accordingly. Remember they're debuting as SINGERS!!!
everyone is very quick to say mai is a bad singer, but i just don't understand where they got that from, because the girl barely sang at all in the whole show so far. she never takes big parts, always let the other girls shine and does what she can with what she's given. i really appreciate her, and i don't get why people think she's not talented. if anything, she doesn't have confidence in her singing abilities, and a bit too much in her visual. but is it surprising, seeing how everyone just keep telling her she's only that, a visual?
MAI has only been a trainee for a year, so her singing ability is inferior. She has a very attractive appearance and personality, but unless she can show rapid growth in a short period of time, she won't be able to make her debut this time.
I think the forever problem is with these shows of Korean survivals trying to involve international voters is that the taste of international voters is usually polar opposite of what knetz or the Korean shows themselves want. So we're stuck in this eternal taste mismatching loop where nobody is happy with the final result of the group. This was mostly since Kep1er and winner groups that came after them.
i think jeemin not making it into illit prolly ''destroyed'' her self confidence which is why she's always playing it save on here. i do think that ppl who didn't watch R U Next have no idea why jeemin is the most popular as she hasn't shown anything that could've guaranteed that in I-Land 2.
Heavy on jeemin. I agree she has the talent and is ready to debut but she doesn’t have that wow factor for me and she plays it safe most of the time I also agree with Mai being mostly a visual and probably the least talented of the 12 and her being a good person shouldn’t be a reason for her to debut but she’s one of my top picks because she has a very captivating aura on stage and she’s very good at expressions too. Comparing her to other more popular visuals like yeeun, her stage presence scratches a sweet spot in my brain that I can’t look away from her. She also improves more and more after every episode and her mentality throughout iland makes me wanna root for her so much

Remember when sujung was Making fun of Mai and laughing about her vocals with other girls behind Mai's back . Sujung also told everyone not to help Mai. I really didn't liked her behavior there. That literally shows her personality and she is not a team person. If you wanna debut in group you should have teamwork. It is also one of the most imp aspect in gg survival show to show teamwork. Mai became my one-pick. I wasn’t blown away by Mai for the first two missions, but the first thing I noticed was how she conveys her thoughts extremely well. She seems hyper aware about her strengths and uses it to perform better than her current skill set which screams untapped potential. Her skills aren’t even as bad as people are making it out to be. Yes she might be the least skilled out of the rest of the remaining girls but holy shit if Mai is the least talented one left, we’re gonna have an amazing final lineup no matter what
Mnet is going for visual, but for me Mai and Saebi are the same, two pretty faces with no standard talent. I'm personally not a fan of Mai and I do feel like she's kind of overrated but if you're a regular watcher if this show She's actually very kind and humble. I appreciate her personality how well-behaved she is but idk about if good personality should win over talent or not cuase I prioritise talent over anything. Mai is good but others are actually better. I personally think Mai vocals needs to improve more. Don't want another Ill-IT. So hopefully whoever makes it to debut lineup hope it'll be convincing and good
All the remaining trainees are great (as were Yui and Lingling, gone but not forgotten 😢❤) so I think it's absolutely a popularity game from the public with whatever degree of sway the producers' want to add at this point.

-Fuko or Yuju (I think Fuko's popularity has been falling and Yuju's rising)
-Koko or Mai (I can truly see either but not both)

Well honestly Mai only stands out due to her unique visuals and facial expressions (?!?) . If u put her and Sarang on the stage together , obviously Sarang is gonna shine more cuz of her the skills and stage presence . Mai is like that person that is just a fill in and I def see her debuting because the judges are biased towards her . As long as Mai is not in the final debut lineup I’m supporting the grp. 😅

I saw one video of these program and was a cover of them doing aespa - drama and I was like ….. girl.. this girl mai was really bad however the girl with bangs , black hair with stable vocals was amazing. I can’t remember her name but I want her to debut.

Yes Jungeun is amazing, too bad though, she got evil editing in the recent episode along with both Sujung and Yuju (talented ones) and she also didn't get a lots of votes from the Koreans apparently bc of 'visual'
For Mai though, I thought she was overrated at first bc of her visual but I gradually came to like her personality after more and more episodes but again, after the show really favors her, I stand again with my opinion about her being 'overated'.
I'm not hating, this is just my honest opinion of her but she really shines just because of her visual and forced expression, different from Saebi, she doesn't just shines only when the camera filming her but in every member parts, how? Because she's talented. I'm not saying Mai doesn't but she really- and I mean really need to improve on stabilizing her vocal, not just stabilize but fix her overall vocal ability.
I'm gonna be really disappointed if she ends up debuting instead of other talented ones but I hope she will improve and maybe debut in another group, she has the quality of a leader, remind me a lot like Yeji.
Jiyoon is most likely in the final line-up but I would prefer to see her as a soloist. Amazing talent just not your typical girl group member and she might be happier if nobody forced her to do cute concepts and smile for the cameras.
Sujung by contrast really wants to debut with a group and the creative team choreography showed her as very supportive. Mnet just decided they don't like her visuals and destroyed her chances with that last edit…

I'm sorry but among all 12 trainees, mai has to be the least skilled, now that we're in part 2 there are only a few trainees left we have no business voting for trainees that have "potential" to improve or are still "learning" to catch up and improve, we're multiple episodes in now we need to judge them based on their current skills and to vote accordingly. Remember they're debuting as SINGERS!!!

everyone is very quick to say mai is a bad singer, but i just don't understand where they got that from, because the girl barely sang at all in the whole show so far. she never takes big parts, always let the other girls shine and does what she can with what she's given. i really appreciate her, and i don't get why people think she's not talented. if anything, she doesn't have confidence in her singing abilities, and a bit too much in her visual. but is it surprising, seeing how everyone just keep telling her she's only that, a visual?
MAI has only been a trainee for a year, so her singing ability is inferior.
She has a very attractive appearance and personality, but unless she can show rapid growth in a short period of time, she won't be able to make her debut this time.

I think the forever problem is with these shows of Korean survivals trying to involve international voters is that the taste of international voters is usually polar opposite of what knetz or the Korean shows themselves want. So we're stuck in this eternal taste mismatching loop where nobody is happy with the final result of the group. This was mostly since Kep1er and winner groups that came after them.
i think jeemin not making it into illit prolly ''destroyed'' her self confidence which is why she's always playing it save on here. i do think that ppl who didn't watch R U Next have no idea why jeemin is the most popular as she hasn't shown anything that could've guaranteed that in I-Land 2.
mai needs to train more cuz playing safe and having small parts won’t make her debut her skills are mid because i swear i haven’t seen her sing or rap

Heavy on jeemin. I agree she has the talent and is ready to debut but she doesn’t have that wow factor for me and she plays it safe most of the time
I also agree with Mai being mostly a visual and probably the least talented of the 12 and her being a good person shouldn’t be a reason for her to debut but she’s one of my top picks because she has a very captivating aura on stage and she’s very good at expressions too. Comparing her to other more popular visuals like yeeun, her stage presence scratches a sweet spot in my brain that I can’t look away from her. She also improves more and more after every episode and her mentality throughout iland makes me wanna root for her so much
The wow factor in Jeemin she actually the most in RUN but it looks like she has lost all of her confidence because she couldn't make it into the debut lineup
Remember when sujung was Making fun of Mai and laughing about her vocals with other girls behind Mai's back . Sujung also told everyone not to help Mai.
I really didn't liked her behavior there. That literally shows her personality and she is not a team person. If you wanna debut in group you should have teamwork. It is also one of the most imp aspect in gg survival show to show teamwork. Girl you aren't debuting as solo. This show is freaking made to debut a girlgroup.
And girl someone like with selfish nature debuting in gg is worst. We don't want any girl like her in gg.
Mai became my one-pick. I wasn’t blown away by Mai for the first two missions, but the first thing I noticed was how she conveys her thoughts extremely well. She seems hyper aware about her strengths and uses it to perform better than her current skill set which screams untapped potential. Her skills aren’t even as bad as people are making it out to be. Yes she might be the least skilled out of the rest of the remaining girls but holy shit if Mai is the least talented one left, we’re gonna have an amazing final lineup no matter what
Mnet is going for visual, but for me Mai and Saebi are the same, two pretty faces with no standard talent. Girls like Jiyoon and Sujung have a unique vocal tone, Juengeun(idk how spell her name) is stable, Jeemin, Sarang and Fuko are good too, why mnet ''perfect'' line up is full of visuals and no talent ( compared with others girls on iland)

the thing is you can have a few "sub members", but you can't have multiple main vocals or dancers. that's valid to push the less specialized girls, because that's what will create harmony within the final group.
