Dragon Ball really caught on when it arrived in our region around '95, there were previous attempts at bringing Dragon Ball some years prior but it wasn't as successful, but I think that arriving in the mid 90s was a sort of a blessing in disguise since that meant episodes could be broadcasted daily I still remember how popular was DB here in Argentina, my birthday party decorations were Dragon Ball based, I had a music cassette with the music from the series, but I think it's popularity exploded even further when the series got into the Z saga. Suddenly, the merchandise, official or bootleg, was everywhere. It was truly a magical moment DB, Pokémon, Saint Seiya, Sailor Moon, Digimon, Cardcaptor Sakura were amongst the most popular anime in the late 90s and early 2000s here
