Yeah I worked for 5 years on casting processes. Got a lot out of it before the next step was needing 50k in materials costs next. I got a bit past this process, this works, sand is not great. The heating uses a lot of resources. Ye castings my jam
the sand cores are put inside the casting moulds. The moulds have cavities in each pair yet to make a hollow piece the sand cores fill certain parts inside to mould cavity preventing brass (the gold coloured ingots) fill in completely. Also sand cores decrease the amount of machining needed later in the process. And the chrome plating process. I think there is prewash, sulfuric acid bath, chomic acid bath, electroplating bath with electric current and final rinse. Look up "chrome plating brass" from search engines if you need more.
