Has anyone attempted to port this to the NES or any of the other mainstream consoles? I'm sure scrolling could be easily implemented if it was on a different platform
This is somehow a better version of the game than the actual Castlevania it turned into. The keys and chests, NPCs to buy shit from, makes it feel like an actual adventure and not just a home version of a quarter muncher. And I know all of these elements were eventually added in Castlevania II, it's just interesting to see how that was the original intent the whole time. 23:00 Mummies: "Man being undead rules. I sure hope a guy carrying a duffel bag full of knives doesn't show up, that's our only weakness." 23:15 Mummies: "....piss."
I am not sure this was the "Original intent the whole time". Konami had a few games that seemed to be born from the same "brainstorm session" and then the NES division would do their game and the MSX version would do theirs out of the same general idea (and even same assets) And the MSX guys seemed to have a preference for adventure games. It's kinda similar to what happened with The Goonies and, damn it, even Salamander which the MSX version added cut-scenes, secrets a good and bad ending and stuff like that. The MSX division also made The Maze of Galious, Penguin Adventure, Treasure of USAS, Metal Gear, Hinotori... none of those games were "straight" games where the objective was just going from point A to point B, not even Penguin Adventure which, at first sight, it's just a racing game with a penguin and some extra steps, but it's actually filled with secrets (and I mean *filled), items, secret passages, also a good and bad ending. I've read the guys at the MSX division were poked by the guys at the NES division for being "Konami's 3rd team working with the worst hardware" so they worked hard to prove themselves and to show that the MSX could have better games than the NES.
Awesome
Thanks!
13:09 Where can I find this version of Wicked Child? The one in most other playthroughs starts differently.
I was thinking MSX version is just graphically improved, its almost a whole new game.
It is a different version of the FDS game that focuses more on exploration instead of rushing to the end of the game.
もし、またこのゲームをやる機会があったときは裏技バージョンも観てみたいです😊

ドラキュラ倒すならば、連射式ナイフか又は青の十字架用いると倒せます。

Castlevania's essence is here! More even than the Castlevania NES version.
Besides the scrolling limitation on the MSX, this is a great game.

你这个建模不就是“七宝奇谋”吗
ファミコン版の方が良かったか?死神に時計が聞いちゃうのか?
NESバージョンは横スクロールで、ドアを開けるためにキーを探す必要はありません。 より直接的なゲームです。
Superior version of castlevania 1 in my eyes. Easier for my idiot brain to wrap around.
I like Vampire Killer more than Castlevania. It follows more the metroidvania trail than the arcade style.
Why do you kill those poor salesmen?
