In a way when Joe X makes these test of his it affects the viewers 40 000 head mindset and global economy. I bought Cold Steel before but when Joe tested his CS knives I bought more cold steel and I dont buy chinese knives at all. I only buy Taiwanese, Japanese or western, USA made knives. Joe X doesnt sugarcoat anything and his test speak for them selves.
Mora makes a chisel knife that’s just as good, and the Mora HD is almost as the cheap as the Hultafors. I own both models from each manufacturer. Unbeatable performance for the money.
@@helterskelter156 Yeah, I know the Mora is a true single bevel chisel, but for that I have normal carpentry chisels. The Hultafors is cheaper (I paid something like 7€ for it) and because it's dual bevel it's beefier, nice for scraping even some prying.
Pretty surprised that the Mora didn't snap on the tip test even with the big breakouts in the blade. Always impressed by these knives. Some of the best performance for the money available. I always carry one when I'm out in the bush.
Great comparison, Joe! I have the Hultafors and it seems very sturdy for such an inexpensive knife. I keep it in my truck as a backup blade. Happy holidays, Mr. Joe!
I've never used a Hultafors, but I've had a Robust and it was the best damn knife until I got the Mora Bushcraft Black in carbon steel, now that is one helluva good Morakniv! Good stuff as always, keep it up Legend! 💪💯
@@joex My pleasure man! Also when the blade of the Mora went flying the ping sound it made, made one of my cats VERY confused 😂 And Merry Christmas to you! 🎄🎁
Υοu have their 2 best knives!! I own all their models, the 2 you have are easily my 2 most used ones, Companion is nice for general utility, but since these all come with scandi grinds, I believe they are better for bushcraft and woodwork,
@greekveteran2715 Yeah I absolutely love my Mora Bushcraft Black I love it even more than the Robust but that's just because it suits my needs much more than what a working mans knife does, especially because of the 90° spine! 😝
Okay just finished - awesome showing on both! Surprising about the tip with the Hultafors, and then I wasn't expecting the snap from the Mora...wow! I'm wondering if perhaps it didn't break the tip like the Hultafors because some of the bend was happening in the tang. In any case, I can see how its so much work to bring these tests to everyone. You are literally bleeding to do what you do. You are the man. Pomfrita!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Amazingly comprehensive test JoeX! As you said, if running the test again, Mora could break first at the tip test, while Hulta could have it's fate at the brick. Very equally matched blades. The thing for me is the price. Hultafors being so tough and ridiculously cheap, is a winner. Mora is worth it's price, but for me the Hultafors is a no brainer.
Great video. I prefer the Hultafors knife but the Mora sheath. Still with the big handle, easier to clean, SK5 carbon steel and cheaper it's the Hultafors for me. I hardly ever belt carry the knife and when I do it's on the thin belt of my fanny pack. It's my 'beater knife' so I give it a secondary convex and it's main use is rough work including batoning and butchering. For fine work and food prep I carry the Mora Basic 546. Combined these two are about the same price as 1 Mora Robust in my country. Great to see you are back.
Absolutely brutal showdown. You really can't go wrong with either of these excellent knives. I love how these cheap but great baldes always cause butthurt for fanboys of expensive brands. 😂 I have several Mora robusts and have given many as gifts. Hood enough trust in any situation and cheap enough to put in all my go bags and survival kits
Hi Joe, and greetings from Hawaii. Thank you for doing what you do. Your videos are always entertaining and informative. We all appreciate you. I hope you have a great holiday.
I have also both. The Hulta is a bit more robust and cheaper but cutting and the handel is better by the mora. In total I prefer the mora but both are great. Keep on doing my friend joex.
Hello Joe X. You are a kind and generous man. I looked and saw everyone's comments. If you answer any question, I love you like a teacher... You are a friend from the old country of Iran... @@joexNo, it‘s still here, all good, all clear, except this holy shit going on in my country currently and elsewhere in the world, this is all disgusting …
I own both for about 8 or 9 years now. The Mora is the better knife (cutting, carving, crafting) but the Hulta is basically indestructible under normal circumstances. I've abused the shit out of it, throwing, prying, batoning, you name it. Won't die. Fun fact: When i bought my Hulta, the packaging said it was ok to baton it. With a hammer...
@@joex I just find it so amusing that Hultafors is ok with that. Most knife companies won't even warranty normal batoning, and Hultafors says: "Yeah, whatever, just use a hammer". 😂
I would trust my life to a Mora robust. I carry one at work and it can take every beating. From cutting wood to hammering slag after welding, prying steel plates, you name it. You cannot go wrong with a Mora Robust.
You could say JOEY X THE TERMINATOR! Longest handle, thicker blade, yet the Mora’s the better ‘penetrator’? :D that’s what she said... Also, props to both knives taking so much abuse on that poor nail-and still having tips sharp enough to ‘kill’! Ready for the zombie apocalypse… yeahhh!!
Good to see you in another great video. It sounds like you enjoy the Hultafors better than the Mora. I like Moras. Take Care and Be Safe, and have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
I have a Mora robust in the car in case of a accident its good to have around. In a car accident that car can set on fire and there is little time to get the seat belts of and get out of the car through door or window. I have also other knives in the car but mora robust is one of them.
Hultafors - cheaper, more durable, better steel (SK-5), higher hardened, slightly more clunky handle, but comfortable. The case will be similar with Bahco 2449. Unfortunately, moras have become very expensive and are not that competitive in the quality/price category.

Mr. JoeX. Will you please torture test a crash axe? I’m debating whether to buy a crash axe off Amazon or shell out to buy a work tuff knife. Please and thank you if you decide to test a crash axe. I hope you are doing well. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Hello Amigo, I was out some weeks, sorry for that! I wish you and your family a peaceful Merry X-Mas and an guaden Rutsch into 2025, the year of the Apocalypse now! 😂🍻
The Hultafors sheath you need to cut the plastic tab out for use on a belt, as it comes it is meant to clip onto buttons of pants - but yeah, these sheaths feel crappy. Not really a surprise, the carbon Mora is harder (and has higher carbon content), therefore more brittle but better edge retention for cutting. The Hultafors also tends to have higher edge angles making them more resilient. The Moras do come sharper out the box, so I am guessing you pay less for the Hultafors because the duller edge and lower polish (means less time spent refining the blade). Both are indeed very good for the price, and there are Hultafors with similar rubberized handles, but not with the thicker blade.
I like myself the Mora Pro C more and also the Hultafors HVK GH. Slicy and good penetration. Plenty of tough for me. To each their own preference. Mora Companion carbon and the Companion HD carbon are also favorites.
Hultafors do tend to snap, but they hold an edge longer. Presume it's because they are harder. Mora's handles tend to give up if abused, the blades are on the soft side and buckle pretty easily. Just use for light cutting chores then they can both last. Their prices are attractive, but I would just prefer to use better knives even if they cost more.
Hulta wins by far, I think it only lost on the bend test but the Mora had the advantage of being thinner overall so less prone to crack, but the Hulta still survived being bent nearly 90 degrees, it's also cheap and it's made of SK5 which is a god-tier affordably cheap but strong Japanese steel (similar to 1095)
Damn, I was really pulling for the MORAKIV to do much better. Just think if MORA made an actual Indestructible Knife. They'd really sell some units then.
