That will make life so much easier for you , now you can double up the numbers for cars for 'Mondays with Mortske" , which i Always start my week with. Take care, stay warm , Stuart in Ontario............
Mr Mortske, She's a downright beauty I muss say, but in daa future let us know when you's gonna start weldin' so we don't git flashburn ya hear? and keep Duff under the trailer so his eyes are protected. Keep the videos comin'!
Once it gets warm again in NoDak, spray/paint that trailer deck with used motor oil. Wait til after that wood dries out a little bit and it will soak up that oil deep into the wood fibers. Easy, free, and it works.
Something I've done, and have not seen folks do.. get a long run of 6 gauge (whatever you can get) and hook it to the main battery under the hood with a on/off switch..ziptied under the truck to the rear bumper, where a disconnect feature is used to tap into the winch battery for more power/volts. I've seen many folks on the youtubes that run the winch battery dead lol
We use to top coat the wood with used motor oil back in the day. Never had a problem. Nice coat and put it outside in the sun for a few days. Was set to go 👌
Nice work, nice trailer. I share your angst concerning trailer wiring. Solder and Shrink Tube where/when warm dry and clean. Repairs will never be when you have time or good weather and everything will be filthy, wet and corroded. You're on your own with the lock washer lack of love. Nice to see Duff, finally. May you haul many projects in good health and high spirits.
Just a suggestion - bolt/weld an ammo box with the water tight lid on the other side of the winch from the battery to keep your manual, remote and cable in. You could also add a lock on the lid.
Hey Mortske: Another good find that'll definitely help and aid you in the collection of cars that you get... Definitely Duff approved as well... From the home of PB Blaster Silicone spray.... Cleveland, Ohio.... (Worth a couple of sammitches for a finder's fee....)
Very nice rig. I should have got the tilt on mine. I have a 20' with a 2' dovetail. I still fight the ramps but I got the under deck storage. I added a removable mount for my winch. Since i don't have a deep or drive through garage I also use the same winch to pull dead cars into my garage. I have never hit a deer with my trailer but I came across a pack of coyotes out in Kansas going to pick up a car. Killed 6 of them. They went under my trailer and caught in the wiring and took out my trailer lights. My truck instantly told me that my lights were out as soon as I got them. No Bueno. I pulled over to fix the lights and was half way done when I remembered that I went through a pack of about 12 but only killed 6... I quickly wrapped up that job and got out from under the trailer and got to where there was some light to finish the lighting repair.
A cool idea I had seen on Pirate4x4 forums for spare tire storage was to use a spare tire winch from the back of a pickup truck. I used one from a 2nd gen dodge from the junkyard! Works really well, easy to get at, up and out of the way and easy to get to when you need it!
Nice work fella! An idea, maybe weld a couple of bolts on the forward face of your battery hold down and mount a mudflap to protect the battery. Enjoy all of your work. Thank you!
Good job, this was a perfect DIY job, dunno why they dont put those spots on the trailer, obviously they know that you will use a winch and battery box. Also they don't sell it cheap, buyer shouldn't get busy with all that metal work cuz everyone doesn't have a shop/ proper tools for this type of work. Enjoy your new trailer Mortske honestly i envy you smiles.
I think dad knows best in this case, I’d slap some linseed oil on it too, wood is expensive and it’d be quick and easy to do even if it does get mostly oiled through use … great trailer, great investment for your business - good buy 👍
For the spare on my trailer I used a spare wheel under chassis winch from a 1 ton Ford van and mounted under the wood deck near the front of the trailer. Now if I need the spare I can lower it down with the rods and handle like you would a pickup truck. Still out of the way but very easy to get to on the side of the road in driving rain :)
Man thats one serious bit of kit! Makes the "car transporter" trailers we get here in the UK look like something out of a kinder egg.. the "good" one we have is an Iforwilliams ct136-hd.. ours looks like the finest chinesium in comparison
Moving up in the world Mortski I noticed the Clark forklift sitting there also big boys and their tools oh yeah I'm having a cold snack celebrating for you and the duff dog 😂👍💯🇺🇸🍺🍺
Nice trailer! Great job on the winch install. I have to add that, probably unlike some, I enjoy seeing someone that can make do with what’s on the floor in the corner or in the junk box on the bench and make it work until you can get to town to the hardware store. Thanks for the video!
That badlands winch is actually pretty good I have several friends that have been using the 12000 lb.winch for years and absolutely no issues. Nice trailer I am sure that will make your pick up unloading and hauling much less sketchy. PS. You can get a receiver for the other trailer winch from H. Freight so both winches use the same remote.
Love the "most people don't tow with their truck" comments from some people and you use the snot out of trailers to the point where the axles bend. Never actually seen a trailer axle bending happen before but you tow a lot of cars. Nice new trailer.
Hey Mort, nice beef of a trailer --- Tilt mode is great too! Hey you got a smoking deal on that winch ---- here they are --- 599.99 on sale 50 off. Yes Yes Yes ---- another old iron hauler! youtube keeps sending notices to text you on the last comment ,but i can't ,no cell phone here ------ Thanks ----- oldschool ----- keep digging.
How about installing a tire rack/tool boxes/parts bin? You can put your snatch blocks, straps, chains, extra tires and rims and whatnot on it. If you get something that's all greasy you can stick it in there instead of dirtying up your truck. It's very useful to have.
Absolutely love these kinds of videos! Please keep up this kind of content! Not boring at all. It’s my inspiration to go out and buy some “junk” Don’t listen to the nay sayers it’s definitely NOT boring.
We had a young guy from Minot when I was in the army. While the rest of us were looking at GTOs and Dodges that we wanted when we got out he was looking at combines. Don't know why I thought of that in conjunction with your trailer.
Nice trailer. I've had my 16 foot car trailer since 1985. It does not tilt and has no dove tail. Put new wood on it in 2020. Built heavy enough to haul a tractor and with the 12K Badland's Harbor freight winch it's a great set up.
Bradyville is just around the corner here in SE IA. Hull or hp has great trailers. Got a 18' elec tilt steel bed with 7k axles. Love it. Pulls much better than my 22' p@j. I should have done the same with my wiring... but i ended up just rewiring the whole thing. Great video as always
That's a nice trailer. I like the recessed tail lights. Do yourself a favor and put a 10k jack though. The last h&h I bought came with that smaller one and it lasted a couple years. Also, the more flexible blue connector wire between frame and vehicle is way more gooder for podunk and surrounding areas
Overkill on the axles is the way to go. Stuff last longer when it’s being run at 50% capacity instead of 90% all the time. Congrats on the new trailer, here’s to years of trouble free service🍺
Lovely new trailer; you need decent kit with the work you're doing. I'd be oiling them boards up both sides myself though as can't overprotect equipment and vehicles. Next thing we know, Mojo will probably have done it one morning whilst you're out ! Great content as always and nice to see you getting nice stuff :)
Boring...
You should probably show us what you got going on in your shop. I bet it's real exciting stuff!

Good to see you
I can't wait to see the junk, ah I mean treasures, that you will be towing home after the snow is gone. Very nice trailer!
That's some nice fab work. Looks like Puddin isn't the only one who can stack the dimes.

Same to you Stuart!
Congrats MMR on getting ur wrench set-up and mounted for ur new trailer. looks great. Duff supervisor doing his thing.
Thanks 👍
Thank you for guilting me into going back and soldering and shrink tubing all my electrical connections on my trailer!
Glad to help
Awesome! It's nice to see you get something new that helps you keep doing what you do! 😎👍
Thanks 👍
New trailer new shop 2022 and 2023 have been very good to you and Duff dog
