I feel the guitar and snare really cover up a lot of this song. Still love it, though.
Simply amazing! The only critisism i have is the sound of the rythm guitar. I like my rythm guitars too have more power. So what i usally do is the classical way. Copy the guitar recording, create a new track and paste it at the same place as the original so it gets a more thicker and powerfull sound. Then i go into the EQ and start mixing afterhand.

yeah i agree with this. it seems that bands who use this djent sound all have very similar qualities, enough to call djent a genre. they use many syncopated rhythms, constant changing time signatures and dissonant guitar soloing, as well as djent. its definitely becoming the name in which people refer to for that certain style of music.
It has become a genre. One that uses the djent "technique" very much, I don't understand why people refuses that so stubbornly, it all makes very much sense.

the djent sound, is an onomatopoeia of the sound, but specifically, its an onomatopoeia of the sound of a staccato-played, palm muted and highly distorted guitar chord (usually a power chord.)
djent was originally not a style, but it is becoming known as being a style of music, because bands who use this technique usually have very many similarities in their styles of music.

For as many "Djent" bands as there are and how specific the sound is it's easily its own genre. The fact that its an onomatopoeia doesn't matter, Thrash is an attitude, Glam/Hair is a look, Classical is an era they're all genre' aren't they?. What the name IS doesn't matter it's simply to describe a large aspect in a particular form of art. I'm still waiting for people to gather this(and high doubts many will) so they can stop having this flame wars over the word and listen to the music.
Actually its quite possible to like one version of a song over the original. Its just a matter of taste.The melody is the same but this is easier on the ears imo :) But to each his own.

It really isn't badly mixed at all. Okay in some places the lead riffs need to be louder and the harmonies could be mixed better but the kit sounds great. It compliments the low end guitar parts and the cymbals cut through at just the right frequency. Maybe it's your speakers? Just a thought though! Everyone's ear is different!
Its relative and opinionated. I feel its a genre because of how widespread it is and how specific the tone needs to be for you to achieve the onomatopoeia.
