    all other tutorials have shown me only to aim for expansion forward in the stomach, which i found ineffective as i didnt allow expansion in the sides and back as shown, forfeiting so much of my capacity. I'd be willing to bet i was even creating tension by employing abdominal muscles to restrict expansion in the other directions and to try so hard to direct it all forward. with this change i went from holding an s for about 20 seconds max to 40 which is huge for me so th0nks h0mie

    Hey Doug are u doing the Nay exercise wrong because the other vocal coaches usually do it with the “bratty high larynx sound”

    • @Dougzed
      @Dougzed  6 лет назад +2

      I'm not doing it wrong in this example, just a different version of the same scale. Doing it with the bratty high larynx sound creates a certain result.
      I don't want people to do a whiny bratty high larynx sound when following this video.

    also im not sure if this is weird, important, or relevant whatsoever but are you wearing a perfect fit shirt? im only asking bc im analyzing that part in which you breath in such a way that your back expands, and I just wanna know if maybe your shirt is getting the way of something

    Does breathing correctly also keep your voice from straining while singing? Or is that something different?

    • @Dougzed
      @Dougzed  5 лет назад +11

      That can definitely prevent straining or atleast reduce it. The more supported your voice is the better it will function

  • @angalmeida29
    @angalmeida29 5 лет назад +1

    Just a question while u have the support on , it also means that the stomach is taut with the breath inside like a tyre right ?

    so when you take the breath and hold it, that feeling when you hold it, is that how it should feel when you're singing? and what should I do if I try breathing this way while singing and i get fatigued like not just my voice but my stomach, how do i know how tense in my stomach is too tense? im just really confused right now cause ive been trying the exercises in this series and im noticing some improvements but then thats for like a few seconds, but then i just get fatigued and its harder to sing higher notes i used to be able to, i can barely even sing lower notes without being fatigued, also when you say to close your chords like if you were to lift something heavy, how tense are they? like how closed? i feel like im closing them too much and thats causing strain as well, and im sorry about all the questions, if you read this and respond, but im just seriously stressed out right now and really unhappy cause i just have no idea whats going on, ive been doing different exercises for over a year now and im just getting worse and worse.and its just super frustrating cause like i used to not be soo good, then i did exercises for months and months and noticed a huge improvement, i was barely ever getting fatigued and high notes like in You Kill Me (in a good way) by sws was actually freaking easy and now i can barely sing a thing and i have no clue why and it just sucks that i cant enjoy singing anymore i just dont look forward to it anymore because of these problems ive been having.

      I am planning on making a dedicated video in the future. Do your best to find your voice and sound like YOU! I am realising more and more copying other vocalists is one of the fastest ways to make singing frustrating.

    • @Dougzed
      @Dougzed  6 лет назад

      When your stomach tightens your throat can tighten with it. This is the difficult thing about learning from RUclips- there are many factors and these exercises I share might do different things to different people. You can send me a voice clip with your issue if you'd like and I can assess you :)

  • @yangliyeh5510

    It takes some time for one to realize that
    1.singing can’t be learned
    2.singing is a multi-dimensional subject, don’t ever think you can understand or simplify it using some random keywords on RUclips
    3.record your singing and go back to listen to it after a while, this is for you to be more aware of what your voice really are, turn down volume of the playback to better expose the strain in your voice)
    4.you can tell whether a singer is bad easily but you can only tell whether a singer is good by listening to his or her live performances(recommend using fancam or rehearsal to search)
    This skill needs to be developed during childhood, once fixed, the room for improvements are drastically limited.
