You guys did notice right? That right after nick played his advantage and right before they voted, Kara and Allison and Alec nodded to each other signaling to change their plans, which was to vote for angelina instead of christian. And that play also triggered Dan to play his idol, which the idol nullifier comes in to play. So every advantage was of great use. David’s are really really smart.
And another thing, it didn’t matter who nick picked for the steal a vote. He could’ve picked any goliath and it would still be the same outcome. He picked allison to send a message to her and kara and alec how the davids dont trust their indecisiveness and that they didn’t even need her vote. I thought you guys would get it.
Nick needed to play the vote steal... Alec and Kara went in there voting Goliath-Strong. Alec and Kara didn't change the way they were voting until Nick Announced he had a vote steal. The vote steal was the catalyze for them voting for Angelina. The Davids ask for them to vote that way to prove their solidarity and willingness to flip from the Goliaths (Alec & Cara)
I want to include Alison in this too, because she was definitely in on this plan as well. I know Nick stole her vote, but I think it was because she was the least obvious choice and it would throw everyone off that she was someone to potentially work with
I think they stole Alison's vote because they were tired of her being wishy-washy and say hey if you don't want to be with us then tell us, don't try to lead us on.
Yeah, it was a power move. They pointed a gun at her and shot Dan who was standing behind, making the bullet pass very close to her head. There was a bit of humor in it as well, like them making a decision for her, instead of waiting for her to flip. I do think that the real reason is because it was more entertaining to try to trick Dan. It's a no-loose resume point. If Dan plays for Allison it looks like they tricked him and he looks like a fool. If he plays for himself it still looks like they fooled him to play the idol for himself by making Allison such an obvious decoy.
Ken Danieli Analogy: A comparison between two things, a correspondence or partial SIMILARITY. In effect, a simile...so stop, we are both not wrong. It’s a comparison to two unlike things, such as a RUclips post, and your being an asshole ....look it up. I did
Great show, as always. Thanks Rob & Stephen! Two things... I don't think Dan could have played a second idol, after the nullifier was played. They had finished the 'round' where Jeff allows idols to be played, and had moved on to the 'reading of the votes' round. He took it from the voting urn. So no more idols could be played at this point. At least that's how I interpret it. As they were heading to tribal, I was thinking the right play would be to use the nullifier on Dan, and pile all their votes on him. But then I would have had Christian play his idol. It's highly likely the Goliaths will go for him again (which they did do). This saves the steal-a-vote for next week when it's still just 5-5. And they can also go idol hunting again, the next morning. I know there's a possibility the Goliaths choose someone besides Christian, but the chance was slim, and it completely removes a possible rock draw next week. Thoughts anyone?
the situation reminds me of when there is a tie, you and the other person can't vote so by definition once the round is done, it's done...therefore for example if there is a tie, you can't then pull out an idol to play, the round is done! Otherwise, Jeff would say, "we have a tie, so-and-so and so-and-so can't vote, but if either of them have an idol you should play it now. So then, once the nullifier was played, Jeff woulda said, the nullifier nullifies the idol, if you have another idol and you want to play it now is the time. Jeff never says, if you have 2 idols in your pocket, now is the time to use it...many have gone home with idols in their pocket(s)!
I get what you are saying and looking back it’s probably the right move, but when you’re actually there and don’t know what is going on for sure, you have to take the for sure route. If they play the idol on Christian and they decided to switch to Carl the game is over for them
Dont forget that by using the vote steal right in this tribal, the Davids get 3 extra votes from the Goliaths next week. I don't see next week it is 5-5 but 8-2. Then I think they should flip on Christian by top 7 or 6.
I appreciate the replies/thoughts from everyone, but I'm still not convinced that they were right in using the vote steal over Christian's idol. I feel like many of the Goliaths have gotten tunnel-vision on targeting Christian. Mike keeps banging that drum - Dan & Angelina had joined in that mindset. And even Alec and Alison have joined in the paranoia. All the intel the Davids have gotten, points only at Christian as a target. The Goliaths felt in control (with the numbers), so it wasn't even a vote against Davids in general - they are just threatened by Christian's charm as an end-game threat. Because of that, I feel like it's a
I think Kara had to take out Dan because 1) Of him, she became a threat because showmance 2) He didn't want to work with others, holding her back 3) She needed to have an accomplishment if she makes it to the end

Here’s the thing with the vote steal: Nick took the vote from Allison (takes the vote of a waffler), but also caused Dan to question whether or not he would use the idol on Allison. He even leaned over to Kara and asks, “Should I use it for me, or for Allison?”
But by voting Dan out they flashed the idol and got rid of someone they wanted gone from the previews episode. Dan wins immunity challenges and finds idols
i was scrolling through the comments looking for someone who realized why Dan had to be voted out. it does not matter if he is a dumb as a rock player the fact is he is a comp beast and a idol whisperer, his ass had to go!
IMO the most glaring mistake the Goliaths are making is underestimating Davie and Carl, while overestimating Christian. I think the Goliaths didn't have much connection with those 2 after Elizabeth, but they were so eager to pull the trigger against the perceived threat in Christian, even though they can trust him if a Goliath insurgency comes. If they had split the vote between Carl and Davie and make the Davids feel that they're involved, they will still have the numbers, and still have Davids in their back pocket. But they destroyed that bridge, and now the Davids are trying to get revenge, one advantage at a time.
Carl might have played it, but i do not think it was his strategy - i am wondering which one of the David's came up with this scenario, it was brilliant!
Even if he did the idol nullifier still will get him -- IMO his wrong move this vote is not strategizing with the Davids so that he may not be a target for them.
@@zjzr08 I can imagine a player, sometime in the future, playing two idols. The first idol to cancel out the nullifier, and the second idol for immunity. Assuming that the nullifier does not nullify all idols played for that person.
Awesome episode. The Goliaths are waffling too much, you either jump on board or you don't. It's easy to be indecisive when you theoretically have the numbers, but that can also infuriate all your potential allies since you're really not committing to anything. Might be the reason Alison was targeted by the vote steal, Davids probably getting really annoyed because she doesn't seem to be able to make up her mind at all...
S. Jetson I agree Mike is playing so boring... also Allison’s ephipany that she must make a move and then to have another ephiphany the best play is too cruise... There are so many people who would love to play Survivor and these players are just playing so safe.....Please people play Survivor..... I would love to play , myself.....
I really couldn't think of any other way this vote could be better. It doesn't matter if Dan plays an idol or not, because he has the nullifier on him. The steal vote was perfectly used because it's one stone hitting two birds: voting out Dan + putting a gun on Allison and her little alliance with Alec and Kara. Next week there's a high chance that it's gonna be 8-2 and the Davids even has an idol. It looks like the Davids even outsmarted you guys and the comment section has well pointed out how the steal vote was used just right. Not gonna lie, I was confused at first too and not until reading others' analysis that I understand their long-term plan. In a longer term, I really don't think the Davids made the impression that they are 5 strong because they are all Davids, I think they came across working together because they are all in the bottom. They are smart enough to see themselves not able to win over Christian. Again, like you guys said, the Goliaths switching to the Davids hoping that the Davids will eventually eliminate one of their own is very very risky and I would be scared as hell to make that move, but I believe it is a better choice than still trying to work as a Goliath team.
What's going to be interesting is when it gets to the point in the game where the David's inevitably have to turn on one another. Nick and Christian are clearly Final 2 and I think they'll (especially Christian) feel a sense of solidarity with Davie. That leaves Gabby and Carl at the bottom rung of the alliance. If the Goliath's weren't already turning on each other, I'd say they should try to get those two to flip, but it's probably too late and to many bridges burned to do that now. But there are still idols to be found and (in Christian's case) played, so anything can happen. Gonna be an exciting end to a great season.
Just a rule question. Say Dan didn't play idol last week and still held 2 idols.. Would both of his idols been nullified.. or just one and then can pull out idol 2 and be safe again?
12:56 THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT I'M THINKING. Yes, Dan won't be voted out. But at least you didn't have to waste idol nullifier. By stealing Dan's vote, it'll make him feels insecure and plays the idol. But of course the main target is not him but the person who is the least expected like Allison or Kara. This move reminds of Edgardo's elimination back in Fiji.
Throughout the episode, Dan acted vulnerable. Even I knew he was going to play his idol. The Davids took Alison’s vote because they knew she was still voting Goliath. They sent a message to her and the rest of the Goliath Strike Force members they knew. That was a sad audible during Tribal Council.
It's an 'Idol Nullifier', ergo, it nullifies any idol/idols - singular or plural - that the secretly targeted player attempts to use - for himself - during that specific tribal council. SO: since the 'Idol Nullifier' - a.k.a. 'The God-killer'* - gives the player just one shot to use it, on one opponent, while voting at tribal council, and CAN'T be employed AFTER the player presents his idol, means it's a far more difficult advantage to successfully deploy than it appeared to be when they took out Dan. It only worked because Dan let that dangerous info slip to Kara, who in turn told the Davids... because she thought the Goliath/David co-op was on again. But the weak-willed Goliath members - primarily Mike - flip-flopped & decided on tribal unity, but not before Dan's 2nd idol was revealed. AND SO: Even if Dan had both idols, they would've been nullified. But it couldn't have happened. He could only play an idol before the vote... So even if he suspected a Nullifier, and played 2 on himself, the God-Killer slays both Idols. The more interesting question is whether or not Dan's hypothetical 2nd idol in his pre-vote, 2-Idol play - after keeping one idol for himself, and giving the 2nd to another Goliath - is whether that 2nd idol would survive the deicidal Nullifier. It only kills idols played by/for Dan, not idols given to others.
Think maybe they played the vote steal on Alison to gauge Dan’s reaction. If you get the feeling he wasn’t worried about himself, don’t play the nullifier. If you think he will, play it. And heavily lean toward using it if you’re unsure. Steven is right because it’d be very hard to predict when to use going forward too.
I think that they took Allison's vote because she was more wishy washy about her vote instead of Dan who they know is voting Goliath strong. I think it was to send a message to Alec, Allison, and Kara and also for Dan to be triggered to play his idol cause he knows something will happen in this tribal and it's better to be safe than sorry.
My boot predictions 4th Boot - Carl 5th Boot - Mike 6th Boot - Christian 7th Boot - Kara 8th Boot - Davie 9th Boot - Nick 10th Boot - Alison Final Three Gabby, Alec, Angelina
Allison was TOTALLY in on the blindside against the goliaths. When they stole her vote you could tell she had been told about it beforehand-truly, her acting was *horrendous* !!! Great tribal!
selilatte Totally. And the way she immediately goes: “Well I wasn’t expecting *that* !” And kept droning in about wanting to vote so bad to show her allegiance to the goliaths ...I was like “Chill girl! You’re making this all SO obvious!” She’s no Meryl Streep 😂😂😂
I think if the Goliath's decide to stay together (not automatic due to Alec and Kara's vote against Angelina) they should clearly try to vote out Nick. They clearly have to know he and Christian are the strongest players on the David's and you could maybe try to pull over either Gabby, Davie or Carl. Davie's Unlikely to flip (after all he did save Christian) but I think Gabby or Carl would at least listen. They know that they've tried to vote out Christian and it hasn't worked, so if they were smart, they'd go after Nick, cause if either Nick or Christian get to the end, they'll win. BTW, I hope they fail because Nick, Gabby and Christian are my favorite players this year. The David's should go after either Alec or Kara. Mike and Angelia have no chance to win. The only player I really can't figure out is Allison, but it doesn't seem like she's all that popular with the tribe.
@@dffndjdjd I think that's entirely possible, since they (David's) realize Angelina's going to be pissed after the vote and she will be looking for blood. I still think if they (the Goliaths) are smart (especially Alec, Kara and Alison) they'll realize they were fooled by the David's and that Nick was the mastermind and that he and Christian have been behind the blindsides the last 2 weeks. Alec should especially be wise to Nick, because he told Nick the Goliath's were gunning for Christian 2 episodes ago and turned around (with Davie's idol) and blindsided John. Again I hope not, because Nick and Christian are to me playing the best game by far and I'm rooting for them.
I think the idea of stealing Allison’s vote was to lure them to thinking they were going to vote her out and maybe Dan would play the idol for her. In some way it worked, as we have seen as Dan asked Cara if he should play it for Allison or for himself.
Andrew G She’s already said in her confessionals that she’s closer to Gabby than anyone else on the island and that her allegiances are starting to switch. She’s been wanting to flip for a while. I think Gabby told her beforehand what they were gonna do and that was her final push of “Ok let’s do this thing!” (Get rid of Dan and flip the game) And the reason they chose Allison to steal a vote is cuz they wanted to protect her from too much blowback, they were protecting her, NOT trying to hurt her.
She tried to stay strong but I'm sure after this vote, she is really hurt from more betrayal. She's in the bottom and has to think were her moves need to go. Her only ally might as well be Mike. We see Carl is upset with Gabby next ep. We see Carl is willing to get rid of people he doesn't like
47:10 "Survivor isn't fair, life isn't fair". Well no, but that's a terrible argument. I mean, why would you add more unfairness? It's like saying "Hey, there's led in our water anyway, what does it matter if we add more?"
There’s no way Dan could have used the second idol; you can’t use an idol after votes have been read. In the future, players will probably be allowed to play 2 idols for themselves to nullify a nullifier
Is it me or is production not giving Carl a good edit, knowing he was going to play a nullifier, 1st one in the game ever!!you would think he would have got at least a confessional. All the extra we got of Carl was him not being able to compete for beer. Prod is trolling him for any reason?
Seasons where have more numbers and pick off the smaller numbers one by one are boring seasons! Equally boring is sticking to the original tribal lines ... Seasons where people shake it up like millennials season!
Gabby is triggering the very last nerve on my body. She whines about everything and she’s like “us davids, blah blah blah”. Im a fan of underdogs but GOD she’s not a david. She’s a whining goat. She’s the Hannah (millenial) this season. Like keep your mouth shut everytime theres an idol played. God! And she’s crying everytime. Do you see Davie or Carl cry everytime? Please vote out Gabby. I want a David to win but please not her. But at this point i wouldnt be surprised if shes on the final 3. She’s a David Goat afterall.

The Goliaths are currently not showing they are the brightest...
Allison was TOTALLY in on the blindside against the goliaths. When they stole her vote you could tell she had been told about it beforehand-truly, her acting was *horrendous* !!! Great tribal!
That's interesting i never thought of it that way
I agree. For someone who speaks in a monotone way to suddenly have so much range in their voice...I'm with you on that!
selilatte Totally. And the way she immediately goes: “Well I wasn’t expecting *that* !” And kept droning in about wanting to vote so bad to show her allegiance to the goliaths ...I was like “Chill girl! You’re making this all SO obvious!” She’s no Meryl Streep 😂😂😂
even if kara didn't suggest that dan had another idol, if dan plays his, christian probably plays his and then Davids still send a Goliath home.
Andrew G Naw, Allison was in on the plan, that was obvious
Andrew G She’s already said in her confessionals that she’s closer to Gabby than anyone else on the island and that her allegiances are starting to switch. She’s been wanting to flip for a while. I think Gabby told her beforehand what they were gonna do and that was her final push of “Ok let’s do this thing!” (Get rid of Dan and flip the game) And the reason they chose Allison to steal a vote is cuz they wanted to protect her from too much blowback, they were protecting her, NOT trying to hurt her.
Andrew G No, but I can use that mixed with her horrible acting skills at tribal and put 2 +2 together that it’s obvious she knew.
I can't figure out after two votes were she was mentioned as a target by her alliance Angelina stayed with them.
She tried to stay strong but I'm sure after this vote, she is really hurt from more betrayal. She's in the bottom and has to think were her moves need to go. Her only ally might as well be Mike. We see Carl is upset with Gabby next ep. We see Carl is willing to get rid of people he doesn't like
Alec and Allison does not seem like that they can pull votes... Currently it does not seem to trust any of the Goliaths
Their plan was the best thing to do to destroy the goliath side. Taking allison vote wakes her up. Make some moves
Dang it I missed this...
Not everyone knew about the super idol, either.
Every move was calculated, it seemed like it was scripted
