In this video I will breakdown how Tool Assisted Speedrunning (or Tool Assisted Shots) has helped players like Nape shatter the skill ceiling and take Rocket League places it has never gone before.

As long as people remain honest when using TAS and uploading clips, more power to them.
That run was awesome to see not just because it was a really good use of TAS but using the ever evolving map as part of your play really made me go "Hang on..."
5:40 As a longtime viewer of different TAS content, this final shot show how well it's used there. TASer's usually go bonkers when possible, famous one is the autoscroller from Mario, really loved to see the creativity there, showing stuff that may have 0.000001 odds

This is super cool! I don't play much Rocket League as it's not my type of game, but I love seeing this cool time in the community. I hope this develops further because the clips I've seen are super entertaining

I'm generally not a fan of TAS in terms of a clip to show off since I would rather watch someone like Evample show me possibilities in actual gameplay, but those combo player shots are actually pretty cool. The switching back and forth one in particular was interesting to watch since you could see the play style change.

This is utterly insane, my mind is fucking gone. Whoever doesn't find TAS impressive either don't understand or are jealous, this is nuts the size of planets
If your new to TAS but interested I'd definitely recommend watching some of the CGDQ TAS runs of different games to see some of the craziest/coolest things that can be done with the tool and a team of talented people.
RL TAS has really gotta be thought of and admired like a perfectly choreographed Rube Goldberg machine playing out. Very exciting potential for sure!

The combination of passion, skill, creativity, and dedication is admirable and I’m on team tas.
How I play pretend rocket league with my rulers at school:
Knowing that the map was redesigned ongoing for the shot makes it seem a bit more like line rider or the w-only track mania tracks but still entertaining to watch
Watching a live clip is like watching the Olympics. Watching a TAS clip is like watching a superhero movie. They can coexist and be successful.

As long as the videos that use TAS make it clear that its being used, I have no problem with it and think its definitely one of two paths for the future of RL freestyling.
TAS is huge in track mania. it's so funny people using it do Nose bug then Ubur Bug across the entire map

The TAS team play idea is actually revolutionary for rocket league. If we can find a way to make it more accessible it could really change the way we train and analyze gameplay

TAS runs can also bring out new mechanics humans will use. in trackmania the well known noseboost has his origin from a TAS algorithm. its not a skill people are using frequently but it has a special place on some maps when going for the world record!
In a way this reminds me of the MW2 trickshotting days in where people would use slow mo in modded lobbies to fake sick clips, editing the speed afterwards in Sony Vegas
Besides his skill in TAS, he has a pretty nice microphone on stream

I’m surprised more people didn’t know what tas was. I’ve followed speedrunning for a while where tas is frequently in the conversation. I do realise though that speedrunning isn’t a very big community and is quite niche.
2:05 What a lot of players still miss is that TAS have been available for many many years and were originally used to fudge with 8 bit games for the NES.

the cars need a whole new, bigger, more complex, taller environment to ball in. they could also use "Distance" Wings, so as to swing thru the air and chain stunts together, but the wings would also have a meter that fills when your flip resets

I don’t know about ya’ll, but I’ve only heard of TAS being used to show the potential in single player games, not multiplayer games with a giant player base. This is huge!
TAS is often used in MarioKart and Trackmania, which is shown in the video. They are multiplayer although the TAS focuses on the singleplayer part.

i will say there is no way to say how much skill is in a tas shot because you can work on it for an infinite amount of time. But what we can all most agree on, it is entertaining asf.
