I think they're missing the biggest lasting effect for London - a (comparably) much better funded, cleaner, and more operational public transit system. Funding for this is the biggest advantage and something NYC desperately needs.
Train service will not improve. Also the buses and trains are still dirty. Congestion pricing will not make trains cleaner. Thank goodness this is getting repealed by the Trump administration
I like how she mentioned that with less cars needing roads they repurposed streets to be pedestrian plazas. NYC could definitely use more of those, Europe has them everywhere.
It's an interesting debate. I like the idea of express lanes the cost of which fluctuates with congestion. That works brilliantly to help all lanes (including the fee lanes) move better. That is probably not feasible in the city. So price incentives can work but penalizing everyone who crosses into the city seems excessive... Public trans doesn't work for everyone.
saw less cars, but also saw way less people walking around the city. while its nice to drive with less traffic, but paid also $9 for the privilege which will go to $15 in a few years. Prices of groceries in the city are already starting to increase. Also remember new york city self inflicted how much congestion was in the city by expanding tlc plates to unsustainable levels, decreased speed limits, changes in traffic patterns and cutting funding for nypd agents
Saw less people walking around the city? It's January, the tourists have left, and it's been freezing, raining, and snowing. Every year this is the worst month to walk in NYC. Come back in April and check again. Either way most of the people you see walking on the sidewalks aren't commuting here by their personal cars.
@@pkal244 it is no way all tourists because previous January there were way more people on the sidewalks going to and from work, people from outer boroughs, date nights. Yes there are less people from other months but compared year over year it is significantly down. Friday and Saturday nights the restaurants and bars are not nearly as full.
@@Gadgettime if a $9 charge is the single thing preventing them from coming here then chances are they weren't going to spend much money anyway. I love the more open roads and can't wait to start cycling to work downtown again.
It's a TAX. Call it what it is! Hopefully Trump will put an end to it! All these Democrat bills that gouge the citizens to benefit politicians needs to stop
Why do these people always try to compare other countries to the US I would never understand that to save my life and you doing nothing better to make it better
He should get rid of it. Most NYC residents oppose congestion pricing. The MTA wastes billions extra on projects whilst service doesn't improve and then complain that they are broke
Paying per use is universally accepted for public transport, but not for road space. Weird.

All the fees are taken up by unions. Train services will not improve

In New York it’s a money grab. New York already has congestion pricing it’s called Lincoln Tunnel and Holland Tunnel..it’s a great con.
Who cares? It noticeably reduced traffic and that's what actually matters.
@ didn’t you notice they increased congestion and traffic with the removing of driving lanes..zzzzzz
Of course the woman who is getting paid with the fees that the city is collecting says that it's working.
3 BILLION
Yall could take your car to any borough....EXCEPT Manhattan 😂...and look, it's working.
Wow, Chicago is #2? Traffic gets bad, but it's never as bad as LA. Where is LA on this list?
Next: Congestion breathing. Unnecessary jogging consuming extra oxygen should be priced too!

So you wanna take money out of my pocket to buy a bus to make people pay to ride at a cheaper price
Scam

I notice that too, less cars less people. Toothpaste almost doubled in price.

Ultimately the rich drivers benefit. Go figure
All OK🇺🇿

Very effective Trump get your hands off

Did you not ask the english in London how it had worked long term pros and cons
We have a well funded reliable public transport system, air is cleaner, and cycling is a lot safer.
I’d rather live in Kansas
