    • @christopherleubner6633
      @christopherleubner6633 3 месяца назад +5

      Yup we kept lots of those for fuses at a junkyard to ignite the thermite shearing charges. For that mixture add about 30% by weight of potassium perchlorate and use course aluminum chips as the fuel. It burns the metal you are wishing to shear. Was used on stuff too difficult to cut up as is with a torch directly.

    As kids we would tape sparklers together in a certain way and use them to remove small stumps and scare pests away.... One day my buddies and I decided to tape 1,000 together.... It shattered ours and my neighbors windows.... The neighbor lady ran out screaming she just heard a shotgun right outside her window. The one buddy severely doubted it would do anything but we had done it many times before with smaller amounts. Thermite is no joke.

    We have seen some tannerite filled hollowpoint slugs that were capped with 22 blanks, but what else can you get away with legally?

    So I noticed tou had a small clay planter for a "measuring device". But typically when you want thermote to burn through something you put it in a crucible with a hole in the bottom to concentrate and contain the molten metal in one small area. Sometimes a clay planter can be used as a crucible. The older thicker ones work better than the dollar store paper thin ones.

      Ordance Lab attempted several mixes of thermite, they had trouble burning paper inside a thin office cabinet. Solid metal acts as a good heat sink so while you heat it red hot and potentially melt a little on top, melting through requires a refractory shield, like in thermite welding for train rails.

    what if you put the thermite in a tube with a slightly narrowed end?
    or if you put it in a springloaded, shaped container to keep it under a constant pressure as it burns away?

    • @DeskPop

      also I'm afraid I didn't explain well enough, since I'm awful with words. I meant for there to be an exit, like a slot where the thermite would be shot out as it burns. the spring is more to give it a minimum pressure, so it doesn't just sit and burn in place. spring outside or separated by a piston, pushing piston into the thermite.

      @@CaptnApathy It sounds like you're describing devices from "The Great Thermite Debate". @NotTheRealRustyShackleford sounds like the same thing I saw, but not the same name. One of the devices did need something to keep pressure though, because it was leaving through a slit the same length as the device, not a nozzle.

  • @edi9892
    @edi9892 5 месяцев назад

    I wouldn't call it impossible, but there's a lot of work to be done in getting a functional formulation. It should be possible to make microscopic pellets that themselves contain compressed particles of aluminium and iron oxide which in turn are probably 50-200nm in size. These pellets would need to be held together by a burnable plasticiser which probably has to work with less than 10% mass percent. Even then, what's the point? You have molten metal running down metal bars! That won't cut through it! Unless your target is horizontal and not rounded...

    Add some sodium or potassium perchlorate if you want shearing mixture. The perchlorate should be in excess and aluminum must be course. Used this mixture to cut up scrap at a junkyard. Mainly because we had a bottomless amount of aluminum turnings and rust, leaving the perchlorate as the only component that we had to buy. It actually burns the metal rather than simply melting it. We used it sometimes for direct shearing, sometimes to prep for cutting with a torch. Usually used for scrappling large heavy assemblies that would take up too much space in the bins.

    you need hotter igniters, maybe add a loose sleeve to them packed with raw material as it ignites easier to increase the heat into the mixed goop

    How about trying something else, have you ever;
    Made stump killer and sugar rocket fuel. Try the cooking recipe. But mix you're two ingredients together with the rocket fuel. Be careful please make a video.

      PS don't put it in a close tube and light it up, you probably won't need magnesium to light it. I'm not giving out exact recipes.

    2:01 and those are for? Seriously those things won't do crap to protect you from anything but the smallest of sparks, also if they are made from anything synthetic they are worse than nothing, get some good welding/foundry gloves if you want any protection at all.
