This is right up my alley! I used to bait hooks on a fishing boat when I was a kid. I worked my way up from apprentice to journeyman and then master baiter. I was a master baiter right up until I got married. Even now, though I don’t fish as much as I did when I was a kid, I still do it just to maintain that muscle memory.
BCtruck, rebuild, repair, repurpose You should take a trip to Johns and give him a hand. As busy as he is im sure he could put you to work. Hire you out down at the dam as the chief master baiter. Make a little side cash.
I would but Ive been kind of busy with my new gig. I dont want to give to much away here or else everyone would start doing it,but it involves a speedo and a brass pole. The real money isnt in dancing so much as it is selling eye bleach.
BCtruck : Apprentice , journeyman , master baiter , chief master baiter , keeping your skilled a hush hush ! WTF ?.... Mann..... you can have all my bait ! Everytime I mess with these baits , I get the stinky fingers ! My wife get annoy & agravated when I get the stinky fingers . Wanna know where I been & what I been doing or whom im with ! The bitch is crazy I tell you ! Please take all my bait please ! Stinky fingers NOT worth the aggravation just to go fishing I tell you ! You must be single ..... fingers must smell clean all the time , your lucky !
Hey John I bought some of your shad from the tackle shop in South Point a couple of weeks ago. I'm not a big fan of frozen shad,it seems like it gets mushie but the shad I got that you packed was fresh just like it was just caught. It caught us a 16 and a 13.5 lb flats that night. Thanks for all that you do.
Woah I got frozen bait from the tackle box and it's a crazy coincidence that I'm watching this video now. I caught a channel cat in Winfield on his bait.
Thanks for this. Now I understand why some bait I have bought in the past was soft and mushy while the same bait type of another brand is still quite solid.
Hey this is some very handy info for me! A lot of times I don't want to spend a lot of time fishing for bait before I go fishing, and I have a stretch of shoreline where I can grab up a bunch of small green sunfish ahead of time. If I could freeze them up in 'trip sized' bags I could just grab and go! I'm gonna try this! Don't have a vacuum sealer (yet) but I'll try with regular freezer bags first.
Nice job! You hit all the important points in a direct and straight forward manner. Our politicians could learn a lot from you. Thanks, job well done and appreciated. Kerry
good tips! ... tried to do this in my kitchen, but the wife threatened to dry me off and vacuum pack me ... so I set up shop in my back yard instead :-)
I'd say good for at least a year and I've never heard of cutting the bag a little but I'm going to try it for sure thanks for the tips I learned a few things
Good video. I use to catch them shad and put them in a small cooler with ice. Then i would put the small cooler in the freezer. Anythime I was going to use the shad I would take the whole small cooler with me . When finish I would put the small cooler back In the freezer. I was able to catch cats with 1 and a half year old frozen shad with my method.
Nice video, I was catching some shad today and a guy came by and wanted to buy some, I had no idea what to ask for them , so I just gave him a double hand full. Could you give me a idea on what I should charge. Thank you for your time and videos.
Hey John. Hope you're doing good. Would you please tell us how much salt to put in our slurry? I'm getting ready to try and catch some skipjack for the summer and I want to do it as best I can. Steve Douglas didn't mention it in the video I seen. I haven't watched Chris's video on it yet, but I will try to find it. Thank you!
AWESOME video never thought about doing that to shad. I fish a lot with shad. But yours look fresher then mine. Where are you out of and do you sell your bait in Missouri or Oklahoma Love all your helpful videos
Ok thanks I've always used blue gill and creek chubs around here. I haven't done any river fishing but after watching these videos I'm gonna start. Hopefully on the regular dude guided fishing trip
No salt? Interesting. Mullet runs are drying up here around Florida, thankfully I got about 15-20lbs frozen mullet in my freezer. I'm watching videos now because I heard they get soft and mushy if you don't pack them with salt. I packed them with salt after rinsing them off with a hose in the driveway, then packed them in freezer bags (didn't dare to use my wifes vacuum sealer lol).. I'm wondering if they will be useless when thawed, or hard and rubbery like they say when you use salt.
Now do you put them in the salt water ice mixture as soon as you catch them like they don’t go into a bucket they go straight into the salt ice water mixture I understand you salt water and ice but I don’t know if it’s once I pull them out of the river or lake or creek do I put it in the salt water ice mixture
A tip I have learned when using my vacuum sealer is after I have made a good seal I seal a second seal(not vacuum) a half inch away so I will have a double seal in case one fails.
Im new to freezing bait, sorry if this is commonly known, but curious to know if you its ok to re-freeze bait you don’t use after taking it out on a fishin trip. Assuming its kept in a cooler on ice the whole day, can you vacuum seal it back up and freeze it again?
I wouldn't leave them in the water/salt solution for more than an hour or so. I move them to another cooler with just salted ice after they are frozen in the water solution. Leaving them in the water too long will make them start to loose their color, at least that is my experience bro.
Salt on ice will work bag before putting them in there salt on meat breaks down protein makes it soft I throw them on the concrete till they stop moving don't wash slime off don't vacuum pak just zip lock

BCtruck, rebuild, repair, repurpose that would be big money. The markup on that I bleach must be tremendous!

I usually catch them in a cast net below a dam.
Great tips brother! Thanks alot
Thanks for the vid brother! Any thoughts on removing them from the cooler, lay flat and freeze, then package? Would that decrease the quality? Larry

AWESOME video never thought about doing that to shad. I fish a lot with shad. But yours look fresher then mine. Where are you out of and do you sell your bait in Missouri or Oklahoma Love all your helpful videos

Awesome man! Have a good week!
A tip I have learned when using my vacuum sealer is after I have made a good seal I seal a second seal(not vacuum) a half inch away so I will have a double seal in case one fails.
Every cat in the County is circling his house.
Good info
Good Tips My Dude!
Can you refreeze shads several times and they still be good.
Well I been doing almost right thanks for the video
Thx for the tips!
Im new to freezing bait, sorry if this is commonly known, but curious to know if you its ok to re-freeze bait you don’t use after taking it out on a fishin trip. Assuming its kept in a cooler on ice the whole day, can you vacuum seal it back up and freeze it again?
I have done this before. Bait quality will decrease after each freeze but it will work
How can get some of your shad bait ship to me?
How long can the bait set in the salt mix before I get home to prepare like u were doing? Thank you
I wouldn't leave them in the water/salt solution for more than an hour or so. I move them to another cooler with just salted ice after they are frozen in the water solution. Leaving them in the water too long will make them start to loose their color, at least that is my experience bro.
Regular Dude Fishing thank you
@@RegularDudeFishing Off Shore baits have baking soda added to the brine to keep the color.
Great video man. Im not too far from you we shoould get out for some bank fishing sometime
Whisker Stix Fishi
How do we contact you about bait sales? I think I'm local but not completely sure. Thanks!

Can you do that with pan fish
I cat fish right off the back in ashland ky I was wondering how to get ahold of you to buy bait
what kind fish will that bait catch
Nice 😎😎😎
You’re the best
U should keep the slime. Slime is the only way for catfish to find you bait. It is the magnet that attracts the
Cats.

👍👍
Brand of vacuum machine plz
How do I go about buying bait from you
How do I buy bait from u
Why not salt them? That way they would make a better bait as they stay firmer on your hook too.
thanks
Pro tips =}
How do I contact you?
You’re so cool
The best thing is not to freeze the baite just throw away if you got some left from your fishing fish only like fresh bait
I would buy some skipjack if you would mail it to please I'm in s.w.okla.
I want to buy some bait
I’ll get you to 100 comments
Fishing : - )
Cool thanks 👍 aw
Frazier fish good.
I just might drive to Ohio just to buy a bag,, lol
John, check my channel man, indo similar catfish videos but sometimes carp. Thats what we have here..
Salt on ice will work bag before putting them in there salt on meat breaks down protein makes it soft I throw them on the concrete till they stop moving don't wash slime off don't vacuum pak just zip lock
The salt kills the bacteria on the skin and helps preserve the meat. Dried fish is salted and it is not soft.
Does your wife allow ? It's her kitchen in the end 😝
Nice video like it good tips brother
