I remember when OMAM RUclips page only had like 10k sub's and I was like why the hell aren't they more famous. Then their pieces of beauty just started playing everywhere and now their RUclips channel has over 500k subs! So glad I watched the full 10 minute catching fire end credits scene so I could discover this band! Their lyrics are so meaningful unlike all this other crap people call music. I get whisked away anytime I listen to their music, the vocalist are just so amazing!
I literally adore how genuinely astounding this band's music is. It always has a great beat, an amazing melody, awe-inspiring vocals, and best of all, the lyrics have a deep meaning! Half the stuff we call "Pop" today is crap, why can't we replace it with this kind of stuff?

And in those deepest depths of who you are or who you where, you have lost yourself. And you think, how do get that back. Buy most importantly you wonder, how do I look through someone else's perspective? How does everyone see me. Do they see my mask or do they see my suffering. My loneliness. Edit: To hell with all the people who think it's about setting goals or exploring the unknown. It's message is about depression. And it does it in the most brilliant way. Most of you don't see it. The sadness. The suffering people go through. You are doing fine so you don't care. You keep your head up and choose to see the masks. You choose to see another message. You don't see what is behind it. This is told by her subtle voice riffts, and cracks. The weight of the song.

I know this sounds weird but the vibe i got from this song is a people singing their ancestral memory.Icelanders are vikings who moved to the island of iceland.The pull of the sea called out to them,alluring yet dangerous and they get swallowed by it still risked it all for the thrill of a life worth living.
Every time I hear this song, it makes me imagine this story. It's a story of a boy who wants to give himself to the dark (which is the black water) because he had caused a lot of pain and depression. He's about the let the water cover himself when a girl runs up to him and holds his hand, they were going to go together. (this is when the girls singing comes in) The next part is the boys leaves on a ship, saying he is going somewhere no one will find him. He's about to sail when the girl jumped on board and holds his hand tightly. The boy suddenly feels love and happiness and laughter, after that they boy and girl dance on the ship (when its no lyrics). Then at sunset (the end of the song) the boy and girl look at each other and smile.
The reason is because amidst all that gloom, there is ray of hope. It comes as part of a phrase only once in the entire song. That I think is the key to the subliminal happiness. I won't spoil it. You'll have to find it for yourself.
I legitimately thought that the lyrics were "swallowed by a vicious asphalt sea" because asphalt is black and I was so rudely awakened by this lyric video. XD jk this is great
this song speaks of how we should live life. the mystery is no longer there. it is for some but life is to safe now. everything seems to be just a Facebook like or RUclips video away... things need to be scary and unknown
They don't seem to have a music vidio for this a song, a good one would simply be a small sailing boat heading out from Rekjavic to sea, from there they are batters my storms and heavy rain while lightning flashes in the background, you would not see the crew but you can make out there silhouettes at times hanging over the side of the boat to keep it upright. At the end of it all the weather is calm and blades of sunlight pierce the clouds with mabye the cliffs of Dover in the background to show where they are.

I found this song last may after a back breakup with someone i loved alot we would still be together but she moved and she gave me one last hug before she left and we blocked each other like we said we would to make it easier and its been over a year now and it still hurts 2 girlfriends since and breakups they werent the same as my girl just saying if you really feel love for someone you'll know and never let her/him get away always case after them
