    Yes Dr. Lewin replied to every e-mail. I'm not sure if he still does (he's 80 years old now), but he did for me a few years ago.
    I saw him say in an interview that he rehearsed each lecture several times before he presented it to his students.
    I e-mailed him to ask if he meant before he gave a new lecture for the very first time or every single time he gave a lecture.
    Because I couldn't believe that after he had given a particular lecture 20 or 30 times he would still feel the need to rehearse it.
    I didn't really expect an answer, but he replied that he rehearsed for every single lecture each time he presents it!
    His lectures are like stage performances and he was certainly dedicated to his craft during his decades of teaching.
    Respects to you professor!

    dear professor, it is for people like you the world is a better place amidst all the chaos. Had lost the love for physics (that intuitive thinking when I was a kid) due to the strangling equations and half hearted concepts which nobody cared to explain properly. it is for you that after such a long time, I sense that willingness to know about physics. thank you so very much for your lectures.i hope you come to India again to inspire the kids out here who are just chewing on equations and missing out the fun part of physics. we need teachers loke you. thanks

      soura poddar, exactly sir! There is no love for physics. Engineering is preferred over such an amazing subject due to dreams *shown* of better salary and a comfortable lifestyle, not having to work as much later but just the 4-5 years. My interest was completely in physics but ended up taking up engineering due to lack of awareness on the scope of the subject and where the purpose of life lies: in work. There are a million others. Prof. Lewin, I enjoy your videos as much as I enjoyed Prof. Feynman's biography. Just wish more like you were all over the world.

    He is wonderful. A truly fascinating character. Such great demeanor and humility. So much to learn from him. I'm a junior assistant professor in a seemingly unrelated field and I find so much inspiration in his words, his approach, and his passion. We need him in this world for many many years to come.

    Dr. Walter you are amazing...you are physics ...finally , my phy. love was satisfied by your lectures...thank you for an infinte inspiration ..intelligence can finally resonate ...we know there is no zero gravity but it is good to live as if a lift pulls you up and call it a flight....not much can teach physics or explain light...either traped in darkness but you sir by interference a fringe of bright....by the right way and simple words no, by the name of Newton, could there be a force to fight... as you love physics inturn physics loves you back(Newtons 3rd law alright)...charge your capacitors and resiset by ohm ,no stoping the voltage amplified....from mechanics to electricity to quantem to light ...and much more so we are never thru..at last from a fan may the mass.c squared be with you... :)

      Well yeah but I'd be honored to actually meet you and that's the best excuse I could come up with to get your non-digital autograph. It's hanging on my wall, for what it's worth.
      although my copy of For the Love of Physics sits there uncomfortably unsigned, too...
      don't worry, it's just wishes and goodwill, I live too far from you to actually bother you. I send you my digital handshake, appreciation and even a high five if you'll take it.

    I'm a ten year old boy, but I have a question: Can you fall down in space? I don't know if this is related to physics, and thank you for your amazing lessons. ♥︎♡♥︎♡

    • @lecturesbywalterlewin.they9259
      @lecturesbywalterlewin.they9259  8 лет назад +1

      +Ngan Ngoc You can fall down when you are on the Moon or on Mars. You cannot fall down if you are in the International Space Station as you then have no weight. If you are in a spacecraft of the way to Mars, during your 6 month trip you cannot fall down but after you have landed on Mars you can fall down.

      I've been calling the big G in his law of gravitation the Cavendish Constant, after Henry Cavendish who first measured it. Newton didn't set it up as an equation, but as a proportionality, and measuring the universal constant was not in Newton's conclusions of that law.

      honestly easily. currently I'm studying at ucla, but I supplement with some of the same textbooks that are used at MIT. when I watch the lectures, I can tell from when the students participate that many did not do their pre reading, and that at least a few of those won't end up knowing the material very well.
      by studying the way I am rn I actually ended up getting the top score on both midterms in my first mechanics class at ucla lmao

    • @derekxiaoEvanescentBliss
      @derekxiaoEvanescentBliss 6 лет назад

      just enjoy what you're doing and make sure to do a lot of problems and understand every step you choose and youre probably at the average in any MIT class (aka better than half of the class!!!!)
