  • Does your kid struggle to hit pitches in a certain part of the zone? Would he like to make more consistent contact (fewer swing-n-misses)?
    If so, this video will help!
    In it we're going to cover 3 secrets to for a more consistent swing that ALSO has fewer "holes" for the pitcher to exploit.
    Tip #1 is especially important for me to share with you. It's so simple, yet so effective for helping you increase that batting average, reduce strikeouts, and generally just dominate at the plate!
    In fact, it's so important that when I'm scouting players, I've begun looking at it as a key indicator to tell me what pitches (and pitch locations) the hitter can hit and which ones he'll struggle with.
    (which means savvy pitchers can use this knowledge against you too!)
    Hope this video helps! Click here to watch it
    Oh, one last thing.
    I'm trying to put out better videos that will help more coaches, parents and players. Can you help me out by either (1) give the video a thumbs up if you like it and want more like it, or (2) if you have a suggestion for improvement or future video topic request, leave a comment to let me know how we can make videos that better meet your needs.
    Best,
    Doug
    Description - This video will discuss 3 concepts (bat angle, bat / body direction, and timing) that can be seen by most Major League Hitters. Most hitters struggle in at least one of these 3 areas, and upon improvement will find simplicity and consistency with their swing.

    Last season Guerrero Jr made a major change in his timing. Previous to last year, he started his coil when the pitcher's hand was coming up and about to release the ball. He was almost always late and rarely pulling a middle to in pitch. Last year he started his coil when the pitcher broke his hands like Judge and Yellich and many of the other great hitters do. Guerrero Jr hit a ton last year and was pulling lots of balls out of the yard. About 3 years ago we had our hitters start when the pitcher broke his hands and being on time improved greatly.

    Very helpful! My high school son is a very good practice hitter but is having a mediocre season against live pitching I think because of point 2. In games, for some reason, his body and bat direction leans pull side and he misses a lot of outside, off speed pitches he hit last year. He doesn’t realize that he’s doing this but it’s apparent in video. In practice he hits everything up the middle and opposite gap. If you pull off you either miss or foul off pitches that are hittable. Very frustrating

    I've been trying to improve my swing over the summer as it's my Junior year and I'm not producing like the other guys in my grade. There are lower classmen who are better than me and I want to do everything I can to improve at the plate. I've watched Videos from Tony Gwynn and now I'm watching your video. Thank you for showing us tips that can make dreams come true for so many people.

    Fantastic video. I've been working with my daughter on her softball swing. Immediately, I see #1 and #3 are problems for her that I will help her to fix. Ur instructiona helped me b/c you clearly stated rev up as the pitcher is getting ready to throw. Starting early. I think this will be a huge difference maker. Any tips to help youth get more comfortable in the box during games? My daughter gets a bit nervous. In practice she's hitting the ball but in the games she struggles. More like she's trying to work out a walk vs taking some big cuts. Thanks alot!!!

    Hello Doug, it would be a miracle if you could still remember me. Billy Piella and I went to a spring training game in 2010, I think you played for the Pirates in that season. Hope you are fine, I still play semi-pro in Europe. If you have any more tips for me, I could go over it with our young players. For some things, I swear to hear Billy, the best coach who has ever helped me. It was really cool to talk to you in the stadium back then, one of my highlights and I still tell the story to my teammates. All the Best, Hubi (catcher from Austria)

    I was looking at some of your highlight reels, you have a very strong arm. What was your top MPH throwing across the diamond?

      Thanks man that's nice of you to say. I never clocked my throws across the infield but I hit 90 mph off the mound. What about you? What's your story?

    Good stuff. Should your hand path and extension be different for inside and outside pitches?

    • @dylanbrookbank1935
      @dylanbrookbank1935 4 года назад +1

      No. If you're on time, the outside pitch is simply letting your hands follow the hips and driving the ball as it crosses the plate(not before), to drive it middle away.

    Hey Doug, I see there was a 5 year gap in your MLB career...….what happened? Injury or just took that long to work your way back?

    • @ProBaseballinsider
      @ProBaseballinsider  4 года назад +2

      Spent a lot of time in triple A, LOL. And yes there were some injuries mixed in there too. Cracked knee, pulled oblique. Got hit by 95 mph in the eye that cracked cheakbone and separated retina. Thankfully those all healed. Just grateful to be able to play so long
