    What if I relocate the oil cooler and turn it by 90°, so both connections are handing to the right side. Do any problems occur when doing so? For example oil cooler drains all its oil and runs dry when turning off the engine.

      We have not tested this, but rotating the cooler should not have create an issue. Thanks!

      @@mishimoto Thanks for the quick reply. I will see and test with water before I install it. Maybe I can install it regulary so I dont risk anything. I have to check later when I remove the bumper.

      In case anybody needs to know that too in the future.
      It actually drains back into the pan with both connections to the right side. Even tho both hoses are slightly higher than the connections.
      Does not bother me alot, since I can change oil complety before I track the car.
      I'll still have to figure out how much oil it drains back, if not all. Oil changes might get bit tricky with the correct amount of fluid.
      Regarding oil pressure at the start, I will increase the cranking time from 1 second to like 2-3 to make sure it can completly fill the oil cooler before the engine starts.
      Overall, after my first test drive with 140+ mph continously my engine oil did not exceed 200°F. I used the 200°F thermostat.
      So far I am really happy and can not wait to try on track.

    When doing a oil change how do I remove the old oil from the radiator? Is there a certain way I have to drain the oil out completely to put fresh oil back in?

    • @mishimoto
      @mishimoto  3 года назад

      If you would like to remove the oil from the cooler, you would need to remove it from the vehicle.

    • @geraldwalker4655
      @geraldwalker4655 3 года назад +1

      So I would be cycling old oil from the radiator with the new oil I would of just put in

    • @mishimoto
      @mishimoto  3 года назад

      Yes, the amount of oil left in the system wouldn't have an effect. on the longevity of the new oil.

    Will this fit on the LT1 model, since it has the LT style bumper? Or will I have to make my own ducting.

      Shouldn't have any issues

    Are there any extra steps when installing the thermostatic one?

    Is this a good replacement for a street car with my old engine cooler needing to replaced?

    • @mishimoto
      @mishimoto  2 года назад

      Yes, we would suggest running the thermostatic kit if you are daily driving the vehicle.

      The OEM cooler is not removed for this.

    What do I do with my old oil cooler line going to the coolant? Mine busted internally and it keep mixing coolant with oil

    • @mishimoto
      @mishimoto  2 года назад +1

      We do not suggest removing the OEM cooler. If you have an issue with it, we would suggest replacing it, especially if it's leaking.

    Do you have a kit for the SS 1LE as well? Or will this also fit the 1LE?

    • @mishimoto
      @mishimoto  5 лет назад +2

      This will fit any SS with the LT1 engine. The 1LE is a handling package that should not affect the routing of our oil cooler.

    • @jasonwang3413
      @jasonwang3413 5 лет назад +1

      Gotcha. I thought the 1LE also had extra coolers. Do you have any customers who have also installed a whipple supercharger? I’m guessing there might be some conflict with the intercooler piping and mounting.

    • @itchyonion3559

      You don’t need it, stock cooler is plenty enough

  • @robertm2172
    @robertm2172 4 года назад +1

    Guess it won’t work with a supercharger do to line routing

    • @mishimoto
      @mishimoto  4 года назад

      Depending on the setup you may have to rework the line to get around the additional components.

      Mishimoto Automotive I don’t think the oil cooler and the 2650 s/c heat exchanger have enough space between the a/c condenser and crash bar

      Hey Ray, for a street driven vehicle, this may not be the first upgrade you'll want to go with. Many of our customers using their vehicles for track duty reported back much more consistent temperatures and a longer day on course!
