This is an alternative version of the Arcade game Street Fighter 1 which allows the player to select the enemy/boss characters.
Sagat is the second Thai enemy opponent and is the final boss. He is a non-selectable character in the normal version of the game.
===== About Sagat =====
Sagat is known as "The Emperor Of Muay Thai" in his homeland. He gained the title after defeating a powerful fighter named Nuakan, a fellow Muay Thai master. As a result, Adon asked Sagat to take him as his student, in which he did. Later, Sagat was challenged by a man named Go Hibiki, who was Dan's father. During the battle, Hibiki took out one of Sagat's eyes, to which he paid for with his life. In the first World Warrior tournament, he was eventually defeated by Ryu.
Gameplay-wise, Sagat is one of the best characters to use in SF1. His Tiger projectile inflicts around 70% energy depletion, and his Tiger Knees come out fast and has priority over probably everything in the game. His "weaknesses" are that his basics are generally short-ranged, and the fact that he cannot jump.
It should also be noted that his standing basics are almost identical to his SF2WW counterpart's standing basics, using exactly the same buttons.
==== Sagat Trivia =====
---- In SF1, when he gets defeated and is laying on the ground, his eyepatch has come off and is seen next to his head.
---- Sagat is the only enemy/boss character to reappear in the sequel SF2WW.
---- In CvS2, Sagat's face in his Capcom Groove artwork looks extremely similar to his SF1 in-game portrait. It's most likely based on it.
---- He references his SF1 winquote in the CvS series and SSF2THDRemix.
---- The SF3 series are the only Street Fighter games where Sagat has not appeared in.
---- He is most likely named after real-life Muay Thai fighter Sagat Petchyindee.
---- In the 2D games he has appeared in, his eyepatch will of course keep switching sides depending on the side he is facing.
---- In CvS2, when Sagat has the S-Groove, his chest scar glows when he charges meter.
===== Additional Information =====
---- Against some opponents, there is a flaw that briefly freezes and stops Adon and his opponent from doing their jump-in's properly in the pre-fight "intro". After the freeze, the fight begins as normal.
---- In this version of the game, most of the enemie's / bosse's "special moves" are performed by holding Down or Down-Back or Down-Forward and then pressing a [P] or [K] button. Interestingly, this indicates that the enemy jumping strikes are a set routine/move, instead of a free move during jumping. It also explains why you cannot perform any strikes while jumping with them.
---- Despite selecting the enemy characters, the portrait of Ryu (1P) or Ken (2P) is always used for the versus screens.
---- When playing as an enemy character, after you win a round, the winning text will still say that Ryu or Ken won the round.
---- You can still play the 'break-the-boards' bonus games as an enemy character. However the enemy characters often do not have sufficient moves to reach/break all the boards.
---- Obviously the other bonus game where you time the karate chop will always be Ryu or Ken.
---- When you complete the game with an enemy character, it will still use Ryu's or Ken's portraits for the "king of the hill" victory message.

This is where it all began. Who would've thought that this game would develop into a sequel that ended up setting the tone for virtually all other future fighting games?

Even Sagat's normal attacks hurts a lot.
it always irked me the horrible body proportion they gave to Sagat in the legs especially (VERY long laps, super short shins!), but he still caused me fear in those lovely 80's when I had to face him.
Poor Sagat. He didn't pass the second and fourth bonus level.

All the buttons being press, hold and release to activate; whenever you do a special move (like a Hadoken, for example) it’s: ““Down”, “Down+Forward (while holding “Punch”)”, “Forward (while simultaneously releasing that same “Punch” button)””.
Only the real OGs remember this in the arcade 😅
I kind of like how the knockouts in this game are less dramatic.

Pretty sure it was a mechanic that made you recover from hitstun much faster after reaching a low health threshold

Tiger Shot has a lot of endlag, especially when compared to the instant recovery of the shoto Hadouken. This is of course a balancing decision since Tiger Shot also does a lot more damage, comes out faster, and travels twice as fast, as well as being more difficult to jump over.

Krazilad99v2, have you played Yie Ar Kung Fu? This game was based off of Yie Ar Kung Fu, so that was the reason why the AI characters were not allowed to be playable. I always thought it was possible with a cheating device. I was too chicken to play the first Street Fighter game, because it was too hard.
Yes, I've played many versions of Yie Ar Kung Fu... if I remember correctly it's the one with Buchu as your first opponent right? I never really experimented on that game.
@@Krizalid99v2 I like how you did the trick or hack on some of those games making all the AI characters playable. The reason Capcom did not want to remake Street Fighter 1 was because it will not sell well, and they did not want to make the AI characters playable (even if it helps it sell well), because it ruins what it was originally planned for, because it was supposed to be like Yie Ar Kung Fu and Karate Champ, and making the AI characters playable ruins the chance of being equal to those games. Karate Champ seems to bear a similarity by adding bonus rounds in, but the fight is different. Yie Ar Kung Fu is kind of equal, but there are no bonus rounds in. I saw someone was hoping for mods of Yie Ar Kung Fu where the AI characters are playable, but I will let you finish what you are working on. What are you using to make those AI characters playable?
I didn't create the mod to make the CPU opponents playable in SF1, a person by the name of Yumeji did.

Why did Sagat's last boss?
That was the idea for the first time Capcom did Street Fighter. They probably have not thought of Vega (renamed M. Bison in the American version). When Capcom made Street Fighter 2, they kept Sagat in. Was Sagat supposed to be the last boss again in Street Fighter 2? It's possible, because some of the games have used the main villian as the last boss again and again. While making Street Fighter 2, Capcom probably thought of a possible moveset that would make an opponent harder, and they did not want to add that move to Sagat, because he did not seem to have a move that could go well with it in the first game, so Sagat was the semi-final boss, because he was the final boss in the first game, and then made Vega the final boss, because they made him have movesets that make him more difficult than Sagat. Even though the original Street Fighter 2 game did have you fight the Shadaloo members, they were not playable, but the later versions had them as playable characters, and one of the later versions added Dee Jay, T. Hawk, Cammy, and Fei Long, and Akuma was added in the last Super Nintendo Entertainment System and Sega Genesis version, and the last version (available on Nintendo Switch) added Evil Ryu and Violent Ken in. Why were the names of Mike Byson, Balrog, and Vega switch around? Capcom was afraid of a lawsuit from Mike Tyson for having an American boxer named Mike Bison in, because it copyright infringed him, and he already told Capcom not to put him in anymore Street Fighter games, so to hide it, they switched the names of the three new Shadaloo comers around in the American version, and just had the name M. Bison with M being unconfirmed what it stood for. I only saw it necessary to switch the names of M. Bison and Balrog around. I wonder why do it on all three newcomers of Shadaloo.

@@becaliteodora3285 I do notice that more moves got added in the later Street Fighter games, but I think their moves were based off what style they originally went by, because there's a reason why Vega became the last boss in the second game. Street Fighter 4 had alot of moves added in. Street Fighter 4 was my favorite, but it was not the easiest. It was harder than the Street Fighter 2 and Alpha 1 and 2. I think it was harder than Street Fighter EX or whatever the name of the one on PlayStation 1 was called. I think Street Fighter EX was not popular, but I still liked it, except for how hard Akuma was. I also hated how hard the hidden opponent in Street Fighter 5 was, and he was too hard, regardless of what you set the difficulty to.
