Just to clarify! Mexico has no interest in being a military ally of Russia. The Russians are insane for saying this. I was joking when I said The United States would take the Baja if Mexico attacked us. This is all an absurd scenario which is why nobody in the mainstream media is even talking about this.
Also, the Russians' map highlighted Nicaragua, not Guatemala. My mistake!

As soon as Russia completely failed to move into Kyiv and control the country, Russia lost.
The original plan was taking "back" Ukraine.
Toughest part hasn't even come, trying to maintain an occupation.

Hello from Arizona! The idea of Mexico becoming militarily hostile toward the USA is as ridiculous as the USA invading Canada (more than we already do with tourism.) Mexico and the USA are important trading partners, not adversaries. Last year the New York Times reported, "For First Time in Two Decades, U.S. Buys More From Mexico Than China." I have had laptops made in Mexico, and was happy to have them.

Unfortunately, the US and the EU have made the same mistake in bailing out the key Communist countries, Russia and China, in the 90s instead helping building up the economies of their neighbors. NAFTA actually was a good plan, but China got involved and loured manufactures away from Mexico.

I also think that the political effects of this will likely be gone after a few years with a normal Russian president. Trade would continue and borders re-oponed rather quickly, depending on the state of democracy in Russia.
The things that will really hurt Russia long term is their crippled supply of working adults, economy and money. The demographic was looking grim before the war. All these destroyed refineries will cost billions to re-build. Export streams for many products were cut and the importers found new deals. It will be a long process until Russia can get back to high export levels. The russian military was shown to be rather incapable. There will be far fewer buying for Russian weapons. Russia will also have replenish it's own military assets out of their own pocket. Noone will specifically financially aid Russia.
The econonomic downtrend in Russia over the next few decades will be a sight to behold, even if Russia is not politically shunned anymore at all.
