  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) offers hundreds of different managed services across more than 30 global regions. With this great power comes great responsibility for managing cloud resources. In a complex enterprise environment, where many engineers and developers have access to many different AWS accounts, it's easy for "resource sprawl" to happen. Resource sprawl can lead to risks for both cloud spend and data security. In order to maintain controls over cost and security, it's important for cloud teams to put safety guardrails in place, to control which services and regions are accessible to engineers, along with sets of rules to determine what "compliant" resources should be configured like. AWS provides a variety of governance services that enable these guardrails to be defined and enforced across an entire AWS Organization. Let's take a high-level look at some of these services in this video, presented by Trevor Sullivan, a Solutions Architect at StratusGrid.
