Ich habe dieses exzellente Video, und die ganze Reihe, leider erst jetzt entdeckt und sofort abonniert. Selbst praktiziere ich zwar kein Shotokan, sondern Goju-Ryu und einen moderneren Karate-Stil, aber das Video zeigt einmal mehr, dass, natürlich trotz gewisser Besonderheiten, alles ein Karate ist. Aufgefallen ist mir das bereits vor zwei Jahren, als ich in Deutschland ein Seminar von Ian Abernathy besucht habe. Auch er praktiziert Shotokan, hat in dem Seminar aber klar aufgezeigt, dass auch das Shotokan über effektive Nahkampftechniken verfügt, wenn nur die Distanz verkürzt wird. Es freut mich, dass dieses Video von einem deutschen Sensei zu ganz ähnlichen Ergebnissen kommt. Vielen Dank dafür!

When we shorten the distance and use the techniques and bases less used in the Shotokan system, it will obviously look like you are executing Goju Ryu, Shito Ryu etc. but in reality, within certain less explored situations such as the Shotokan, such as open-hand techniques, short bases and a short distance, soon accuse us of not using Shotokan!
This is a mistake of the small-minded majority. When we use the Shotokan within the realm of close-range fighting using open-hand techniques and seeking fluidity in movement, it will always look like Shotokan's ancestral styles such as Okinawa styles and even southern China styles. Thank you very much for your comment. Unfortunately, Shotokan practitioners work far too less with close range, or don't work with it at all. If you do it, many claim you're practicing a different style.
In our Shotokan katas there is everything you need for close range fighting.
Good to have people like you who work against this limitation of our style.
