Seder, well that was a survivor. Lord have mercy. I’ve never heard of someone living through so much, let alone an old man like that. His life is one to be emulated . To be such a good man like that is my dream. Selfless and kind, full of generosity. God bless all folk like him.

I hope this story gets out in the Huntington area. I’m sure 99% of the people living there have no idea about it. It literally was lost history before this video even though it was one of the top stories in the nation in 1937.

Try running 2 small thumper kegs / doubler .... It will smooth out the burn and give you a triple Distillation on one run .... I use 2 half gallon mason jars !!!!

I haven't gotten so thrilled about just sitting down to listen to someone telling me stories about anyone or anything! So now it is Arnett Booth, goody! Holy Crap! Now that old Dr. had a true will to live! ALL of that over a little bit of money. Arnett bit the hand that fed him & he got what he deserved! That was great JD!
My family lived in the Appalachian mountains for 150 years. My dad was born in a cabin on a mountain top in Wolfe county Kentucky. I enjoy these stories & pass them on to my daughter.
My Daddy was born on a mountain top in Peery County, KY, on the hottest day of the year in 1933. His Daddy was the first person to put a generator in the coal mines of KY. I can't even imagine working in the mines.
@@erinprattmiller3734 we have relatives in your county too LOL My family were farmers (and moonshiners or preachers, sometimes both). Though for the life of me I don't know how they farmed that land. One of the cabins my grandfather lived in is under a lake now.

Why I like this channel so much. I remember as a child ohh about 5-6 years old. I and my dad would sit in the car and listen to stories from the 1940's. Because we had no TV at that time. These stories would make you see everything the story would tell. Now JD has filled that gap because he has the same way of storytelling. So Thank you JD you do such a great job here. If I weren't disabled I would come up there just to meet you and shake your hand. 👌👍

Amazing story, I was born and raised in Huntington, I have pictures of my great grandma and mawmaw walking 4 th avenue with their Sunday best, big ole pretty hat w/flowers and all..lol. I tell ya one thing it sure has changed over the years. Thanks for the stories, man. All these names are the same surnames of folks I grew up with and related to. It's wild to think that, more than likely, some of those hometown folks with the same last names are in some way related and when you really think about it. It wasn't that long ago. My pawpaw would've been a teenager when that hanging took place. I wish he was still around to ask him about what he remembered. Love these stories , keep em coming, brother.
This is my 5th video I am watching, I love hearing stories like rather it has civil war in it. Civil war we all know but other stories of people we never heard of before, some start out in 1821 or 1861 or Maybe 1896 depending on the year the story begins. But these people we never heard of they left them out of the history books. Thank you for telling us these true stories and you tell it well

My great great grandfather was the assistant deputy warden for moundsville his name is literally carved into the steps leading to the prison. I bet he’d have a story about these men. My dad tells me about all the stories he told em as a kid and he secret drawers in his bedroom filled with shanks and confiscated contraband from the prisoners. Assistant deputy warden Doty
And the streets were far safer back then, too. I grew up in South Carolina in the late 60's and early 70's. We lived in an old, turn of the century farmhouse without a/c. We left the doors and windows open at night for the cool air to circulate. No one ever harmed us! You couldn't pay me to do that again. My doors stay locked 24/7 now.
That poor fella truly did go through hell. Bless his soul. I've lived in Huntington wv my entire life and never heard of this before. You did an amazing job! I can vouch for Wayne County being remote. Every one refers to it as "out Wayne."
I knew a WW1 vet who'd survived 2 gas attacks. He had some lung damage. But his foot never fully healed. He was 80 when I met him. The area where the gad hit his exposed foot just blistered and peeled fir all those years. His boot had split.

And the streets were far safer back then, too. I grew up in South Carolina in the late 60's and early 70's. We lived in an old, turn of the century farmhouse without a/c. We left the doors and windows open at night for the cool air to circulate. No one ever harmed us! You couldn't pay me to do that again. My doors stay locked 24/7 now.

I knew a WW1 vet who'd survived 2 gas attacks. He had some lung damage. But his foot never fully healed. He was 80 when I met him. The area where the gad hit his exposed foot just blistered and peeled fir all those years. His boot had split.
